This skeeter Barnes in Kearney NE unlike other Skeeter Barnes restaurants has altered it's gluten free menu do the (inability to maintain a gluten free fryer). The sweet potato chips that are listed at all other Skeeter Barnes locations are labeled gluten free; however the Kearney NE Skeeter Barnes sweet potato chips are no longer listed as gluten free. I was made aware by the manager that they use their dedicated gluten free fryer for wheat barring foods when their normal fryer is not working and therefore have altered the gluten free menu for the sweet potato chips because they can no longer insure the chips are gluten free.

I have Celiac’s and this place had a GF menu with a lot of choices. I had brisket and my husband had the steak tenderloin. Both were amazing…For sides, most are GF and the server brought extra for me to try. Steamed veggies are not their specialty so stick with the amazing salad, loaded mashed and coleslaw.

I’m giving it 2 stars because my husband liked his (he’s not celiac) I ordered salmon and a baked potato, salmon was blackened and VERY dry! I left most of it, will not be returning!

Worst experience ever. Raw burger on wilted lettuce with “steamed” vegees that tasted like they were served after being microwaved from frozen. Plus there was a sick baby coughing on me from the next table over and a really loud party that I could hear from four or five tables over.

Great restaurant! We ate here twice on our way through Nebraska. Gluten free items are marked on the menus and the employees are knowledgeable about gluten issues.
It's hard to find restaurants with a dedicated gluten free menu especially in the middle of nowhere. (Sorry locals, I'm a Chicagoan.) This place had a big selection of gf items from every category on their menu. The hostess/waitress, Brooke, was very knowledgeable about their homemade BBQ sauces and assured me my dinner and drink selections were gluten free. I had their steak and bacon wrapped shrimp combo. The meat was very flavorful and seasoned to perfection. I almost felt bad dipping it in their medium BBQ sauce. The shrimp were really good too. The BBQ Bloody Mary was a perfect concoction. Not too strong plus the added kick of BBQ sauce was a great touch. It was even garnished with a slice of crispy bacon to boot! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone just passing through Nebraska.
A lot of GF options. Country/farm atmosphere was "homey". Our server was very friendly & concerned about my gluten sensitivity/allergy. However, the kitchen wasn't so cautious & sent my burger out with a bun. We were in a hurry, so I just removed the bun & ate it anyway. We would go again.

Nice menu chooses, clearly define if GF. I had the grilled salmon with the peanut coleslaw.. My husband had the Hawaii chicken. Next time I would order the Hawaii chicken, had great favor. The cole slaw could be better if it had been mixed up better.

The service was fast. There was a table of 20 ahead of us & our waitress was quick on her feet & rushed our order so we wouldn't be pushed back. The food was very tasty & home style.
There were lots of options on their menu other than salads.

Always accommodating for gluten free food and drinks!
The menu was clearly marked for gluten free items. Our server; Kaylee ; was very helpful. Food was good.
They have a good gluten free menu, and really great food. I am very picky about BBQ and absolutely loved the pulled chicken and potato salad.
The staff is knowledgeable and the food is always great!!

I've been there a few times and it just doesn't work for me. I've gotten sick every time. One time, they brought my son's gluten-free meal to him along with a cookie. Then, they were going to just take the cookie off and leave him with the contaminated meal. Of course, he (a 4-year-old) was thrilled to wait 20 minutes for more food.
Also, they say the fries are safe, but they are cross-contaminated due to the frier--don't do it! I got sick! I think there may be a lot of cross contamination going on there. Bummer too, because the food's good.
