I cannot speak highly enough of the Dojo... this unassuming start up restaurant is located inside an old elementary school and has some of the best sushi I've had in years!
Brent the owner is on the line with T preparing all the sushi as orders come in. He wanted to do something different and realized that there was a need for gluten free sushi. Currently there's only 4 things that they cannot do gf simply bc they come already marinated in soy (eel, rish roe, pickled wasabi, and wakame salad). They only use gluten free tamari so even the eel sauce is safe.
The miso soup was out of this world; i barely got a bite bc the kids devoured it. The poke leaves me speechless; perfectly balanced with sweetness from fresh mangoes and creaminess of avocado with tuna and rice... so so good. The nigiri was perfectly cut and incredibly fresh. They have all the standard rolls and a lot of new and different ones I've never seen. And the presentation and attention to detail takes the experience to the next level.
I highly recommend this place! They are destined to succeed.

I have been here twice and both times I had a wonderful experience! It is inside an old elementary school, so no your GPS did not lead you astray.
Owner is incredibly knowledgeable about the ingredients. They use separate gloves and equipment for celiac rolls. GF not marked on menu, but you can always ask. They only have GF soy sauce, so the eel sauce is okay to have! I always make sure to stop by. Love the garden roll!
Cannot have: tobiko, pickled wasabi, eel

They definitely know how to prepare food for people with celiac! Most of their menu is gluten free, they only use tamari, and they use a separate cutting board. The place is inside an old elementary school!
Things that aren't gluten free: tobiko, eel, pickled wasabi

When ordering take out make sure to clarify you would like tamari, they are currently processing out gluten based soy sauce and until then take out comes with only soy sauce unless asked for tamari.
Thrilled to find this place while staying on Long Lake! Dojo uses tamari by default, so the vast majority of their menu is safe. I wish more places would do this to make those foods more accessible. Staff is beyond friendly and knowledgeable. Most of all their sushi is incredibly fresh and delicious! This place is fantastic, can’t wait to go back!

OMGGGGG! This place is AMAZING! The food went above and beyond in regard to flavor, all the prices for fresh, on the spot made sushi made complete sense! Affordable for multiple price ranges also. Owner was friendly, greeted us at the door and provided conversation and answered questions. Place was clean and authentic! Menu was 95% gluten free, staff was knowledgeable about gluten free and communicated thoroughly! Such a great experience!

Fresh and delicious SUSHI convenient to Long Lake, Lake Ann, Interlochen and surrounding areas?! YES PLEASE!! And for those that are GLUTEN FREE, the chef only uses Tamari (gluten free soy sauce), and the only thing off limits is (of course) the unagi. The atmosphere is simple, friendly, and fun. We LOVED it and will definitely be back!
