The Original Pancake House

Very disappointed with our visit. Normally visit the locations in MN and order blueberry GF pancakes (they aren’t paper thin and have the blueberries cooked with them) This location the pancakes cakes were paper thin with cold blueberries just sitting on top. Was told batter wouldn’t accommodate being cooked in… Husbands sausage patties were not cooked all the way through. Not the experience I was hoping for.

The gf pancakes were delicious. They offer real maple syrup. There was a nice variety of menu options for me to choose from.

We were very nervous about eating here as there was only 1 review. We called ahead and were informed that the staff would clean the griddle before cooking any GF food. The waitress was not very knowledgeable but promised to be careful. The side of bacon needed to be sent back b/c she forgot to indicate it needed to be cooked separately. Overall the food was fine and my daughter did not get sick, which is the most important aspect of eating out for her.

Excellent breakfast place , have eaten here and at other locations in this chain with no issues

Got sick from the veggie sausages and it was completely awful. Not gluten free friendly.

The gluten-free pancakes were solid and appreciated. They have fresh blueberry syrup also which was terrific.

OK here's my honest review going to the Original Pancake House with Celiac. They have several gluten free options, which is super cool. They can make any pancake gluten free, however, I have no idea what ingredients are in their add ons for pancakes and honestly I'm not sure the wait staff fully knows either. Due to that lack of confidence, I ordered plain GF pancakes. They tasted excellent and I highly recommend. The caveat is how sensitive are you and how willing are you to take a legit chance in potentially getting glutened? They do cook the pancakes on a separate griddle, but they use the same cooking utensil as regular pancakes, so the potential is there for cross contamination. I would avoid the waffles because they are cooked in the same waffle iron. I took a chance on the pancakes and I think I will be safe. I would stay away from ANY sides as they are cooked on the same griddled as the gluten foods. If I get glutened I am confident it is because I did not ask the right questions related to meat prep BEFORE I took a bite of the ham I ordered. So if you decide to roll the dice on this one and hope against hope because you just want to have a "normal" meal out with your family because celiac is HARD, I would recommend sticking with straight up GF plain pancakes.
