Very knowledge about gluten. GF toppings are in separate containers. Requested aluminum foil on the pizza pans. Pizza was excellent. Best gf pizza yet!
I love going here for pizza! The price is great compared to other places with GF pizza. I've never run into any problems here and all of the employees have done a great job with taking care of my GF needs. I highly recommend this place!
In theory, their GF pizza plan might work, but in reality, the are just to many chances of cross contamination. They use the same pizza pans the regular crusts are baked on and only scrape them instead of scrubbing them or having a separate GF pan. The guy slicing the pizza uses the same tray and blade on every pizza. He has no way of knowing if it's GF unless he looks at the order tag. I'd recommend this place for people with gluten intolerance, but not Celiacs. The pizzas are delicious (but not worth the risk).
Dedicated bowls of sauce and toppings on gluten free dough that doesn't taste like cardboard.
Delicious gluten free pizza and fresh ingredients. Staff Immediately changed gloves and took measures to avoid cross contamination.
Best gluten free pizza I've had yet, and a very well trained and pleasant staff. When we told them we needed our food to be gluten free for allergy reasons (which seems to be the phrasing most likely to be understood by restaurants), the employee immediately changed his gloves, and explained to us about how everyone on the line would be using fresh ingredients and separate utensils to keep our pizza safe for us. What a pleasure that was! And the pizza was so good, with a thin crust that actually crunched, and really fresh tasting toppings, including the option of vegan cheese. If I lived here, I would absolutely be a regular.
I was so surprised when the server asked if I had a preference or an allergy when I ordered. When I stated allergy, she immediately changed her gloves and got my toppings from new containers. What a surprise! if I lived in the Tallahassee area, I would visit here very frequently.
These folks are incredible! They scrape and clean the working surfaces before preparing the GF pizza. And, they pull the toppings from a non-contaminated area. When I commented about the thoroughness of their process, the young man in the prep area said, "It's because we care."
Although the effort for gluten free is there, this place does not know what it means for cross contamination. They use the same sauce spoons for all the pizzas and so you watch them touch wheat dough and then use the same one with the same sauce on the gluten free one. All the sides are just laid out and they are not fresh. I understand that to make the food process faster they do it this way, but all the sides were getting into one another. It was messy. For someone who has to be very careful about what they eat (for me I am gluten and dairy free) this is not the place for them. If gluten free is just preference then you will probable be fine. They are short staffed so everyone was stressed and really could not put effort into making the food right. This place was dirty because everyone was so busy trying to keep up with orders. The salad making station was just as messy as the side station. The effort was there, with keeping the allergy gluten free crust in a different place, that was nice. And they did switch gloves so that was good too. This place just isn't there yet with their food prep places. I would suggest to them, to hire more people to keep up with the business and to really make sure that things are being cleaned up. Also to have the gluten free pizzas made in a whole different and separate station. So all your sauces and spoons are separate and the sides what you just touched stuff with wheat hands don't come into contact with the gluten free options.
The pizza is good but you have to carefully watch them. I watched them use the same spoon on my pizza as they used to spread toppings on the wheat pizza. We went back over to ask them to do a new pizza. I think the girl making the pizza was new, the others seemed to understand immediately when we asked. I didn't get sick (since they made a new one) but won't feel comfortable here unless I watch the whole process to ensure mistakes aren't made.
Super tasty crust, crispy and delicious! Ordered the BBQ special pizza, which was amazing. They wiped the counters down and asked if this was for an allergy or preference. I have severe Celiac disease and had no issues at all. It was even good reheated.
Good thin crust gf pizza! They asked if gf was an allergy or preference....changed gloves, wiped down counter, got ingredients from fresh containers. Gf Greek salad too!
This place has great gluten free pizza. They were super careful about cross contamination and the manager Eli was very knowledgeable. Once he asked me if it was an allergy, (I said it was because I needed them to be very careful) they changed their gloves, retrieved toppings from the cooler below instead of using what had been used on top, and it was cooked on its own tray. They were careful to mark which toppings I could have (pepperoni and sausage were not GF) and the pizza was loaded! I ordered chicken with onions and tomatoes with a pesto sauce (even though the tomato sauce is gf too) and it was delicious. The crust held up and I even ate it reheated the next day. (which I don't normally do with gf pizzas)I definitely recommend people try it. The only downsize is that the pizza is a little expensive, but for me, the gf pizza gave me two meals so in the end, not too bad a price. They also have an "individual" size which is smaller but I didn't order that. I guess if you don't want leftovers you could try that size, plus it would save you a bit of money.
Delicious pizza with lots of options. And SO FAST! Your own personal pizza is ready within what seemed like only 10 minutes. But food handling as far as cross contamination wasn't great. They had a separate tub of cheese and separate pans for my fiancé's gluten free pizza but then the guy making our pizzas proceeded to touch my crust (with gluten) and then my fiancé's crust. Overall I was impressed just think the staff needs to be a little more careful!
Pretty good GF pizza, though they don't deliver. Protocol includes separate pans and utensils, and a glove change. No reaction from cross contamination, which can sometimes be difficult at a pizza place. Service was a little slow, so giving it four stars. They didn't have our online order ready, but quickly made it when we got there. Good tasting crust and lots of options for toppings.
Great tasting pizza and fun place to eat. Only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because many of their toppings are not GF. For example the pepperoni is not GF. So just be warned to check topping GF list before building your pizza. Flagged as not celiac friendly because they did not appear to use different pizza trays or cooking space.
I am a frequent regular and only had one very minor incident where the back end used the wrong knife to cut the pizza. There was a lot of turn over at the time. When I informed the manager, he retained everyone right there in front of me! Also, make sure they disinfect the area. They usually keep my pizza airborne and use ingredients from other areas of the kitchen just in case of cross contamination issues. I go once a week and have been for a year now! Not bad!
Excellent GF pizza with staff who paid extra attention to the needs of someone with celiac, and took proper precautions to avoid cross-contamination. Pleasantly surprised me when they used totally separate toppings for the GF pizza! This is a new go-to pizza joint for us!
Maddio's pizza is some of the better GF pizza I have had. The ingredients are fresh. The best part is that the servers know how to prepare your pizza in as clean an environment as possible. They wash hands, change gloves, and even get the toppings from other dishes than are normally used for non-GF pizzas. It is a very kid-involved place, so it can be loud, busy, and sticky in the dining area. FYI.
Gluten Free Pizza
We love the Uncle Maddio's chain, and this brand new store in High Point did a great job for us. When we said we needed to be gluten free, we were asked if it was an allergy. We said yes, and the employee immediately got to work wiping down the prep area and changing his gloves. Meanwhile, the manager chatted with us about their procedure and how careful they are to avoid cross contamination. All the ingredients for our pizza were gotten from unopened containers under the counter. Our pizza was delicious, and we enjoyed it so much we ordered a second "take and bake" pizza to take home with us for the next day! We had no reactions at all. Highly recommended.
I've gone several times and have been impressed each time. They pizza is very good and they are very cautious when preparing it. They wipe down counters, change gloves, and use separate toppings (kept in sealed containers in a refrigerator under the counter) when they make gluten free pizza. There are lots of gf toppings for pizza. They also have gluten free salads. The staff is very nice and friendly, and take a lot of care when preparing gf food.
They have a whole procedure they teach all of their employees. Regardless of how long it takes; they change gloves, wipe down the counter, get new toppings, and announce that it's gf to prevent contamination. They also have daiya cheese for dairy allergies. Very impressed!
Very good pizza and used excellent gluten precautions - wiped down counters and changed gloves before making my gluten free pizza. Also took my topping from separate containers to avoid cross- contamination. They have lots of sauce and veggie options for the gluten free person, but the one draw back was very few meat options; no sausage or pepperoni. They do have steak, chicken, and grilled tofu. I was able to enjoy a tasty jerk chicken pineapple pizza.
Went there Tuesday best pizza I have had in North Carolina. They keep ingredients separate and have a special pan for the pizza. Loved it so much we brought friends last night, I ordered build your own salad. The lady changed her gloves ( they did that with the pizza too) and it is made in the back away from everything. Every one was very nice about it. Very impressed. Our friends liked it too
Summer staff?? Has not been properly trained to handle gluten free pizza. Staff member used the same ladle to spoon on sauce and spread onto non-gluten free dough returning ladle to the sauce container and immediately using the same utensil and sauce from the same container onto the "gluten free" pizza.
We stopped here on a road trip through the area. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their policies for avoiding cross contamination. My celiac three year old loved her pizza. It was one of the best gf crusts we've tried. This place was very family friendly. We would stop here again if back in the area.
I am a very sensitive Celiac and when I called ahead to see how they handled gluten free orders, I was impressed at their thoroughly described protocol. When we visited to actually eat there, I was also impressed. They're very careful, they understand cross-contamination and they take very seriously any "allergy" orders. I wasn't going to write a review until I knew how I reacted, but I didn't even get a hint of sickness from contamination or anything. This will probably be our family's go-to gluten free pizza option!
I am amazed I'm the first to rate this excellent place for celiacs! When I went, the young woman behind the counter was training someone. As soon as I ordered, she asked "allergy or choice?" And when I said allergy, she showed her trainee how to wipe down the counter, change his gloves and ensure nothing else was near my (delicious) GF Greek pizza. Lots of choices of toppings, dough made fresh daily (in a dedicated area), and the crust was actually nice and crispy, with no weird chewy texture like so many other places. I will definitely be back!
