Updated review 4/7/19 I asked for a gluten free crust because of a gluten allergy and the employee changed gloves immediately, asked what toppings I wanted, and proceeded to get fresh toppings from under the counter. I watched as my pizza went through the oven and as it was coming out, a different employee placed my pizza on the same cutting board where a regular pizza had just been cut! He even cut it with the same cutter. I immediately told him that my pizza wasn’t safe because he contaminated it. He stated he was given no indication that my pizza was for an allergy. I’m so glad I watched the process or else I could’ve been very sick. Another employee immediately made me a new pizza. I make it a habit of watching pizza places like this one and Blaze to ensure they’re not contaminating me. I was just disappointed that this happened at Uncle Maddio’s since I’ve always had good experiences there.

Great GF crust!! I think they use the same oven so maybe not celiac friendly.

I found a piece of charred pineapple with stuff on it from someone else's pizza under a slice when I picked it up. I had already eaten some before I found it, and I am still having pain from it. I would have said something, but this is the second time lately they have glutened me. I wish it hadn't happened because their pizza is so good! I don't know if they are under new management or what has happened, but be cautious if you eat here and have Celiac.

This place is great!! Just don’t go when it’s busy!! They do SO much to avoid cross contamination but get annoyed with all the steps they have to go through when they are busy!!

They are always willing to use ingredients from separate, unused containers. The only ingredient not gluten free is the meatballs. The best pizza with the best options on sauces and toppings!

They seemed knowledgeable but really unenthusiastic about helping. My asking questions was inconvenient. The pizza was “meh”. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Went here on a Saturday just after they opened to lessen any confusion. The guy making the pizzas, after I asked for GF, asked if it was for celiac! I was really impressed. he has a premade crust that was thin but tasted fine. the sauce and cheese was taken from the back of the toppings area so that lessened cross contamination issues. All the toppings I asked for were taken from containers stored in a separate location. I felt quite safe here. This was in Knoxville, TN.

This place gets it right!! They go above and beyond to make your pizza DELISH & SAFE!! Fresh gloves, food in separate containers so there is no cross contamination!! I would give them more stars if I could!!

Love this place. The pizza is awesome. when you go in just say gluten free allergy and they clean the counter, change gloves, and provide lots of toppings from a separate fridge. they place your pizza in a pan to go through the oven.

These guys went out of their way to prevent cross-contamination. The pizza was fantastic! I wish we had an Uncle Maddios near home. We will definitely be back!!

Excellent place to eat. Cleaned the surface before prepping my pizza and kept the toppings in separate containers. Tons of topping choices. Plus, great taste! My family loved the regular pizza too. And...not extra pricey! Will eat here again!

Very good pizza! That being said, this location, after asking if your dietary needs are allergy or preference, the staff will further press you for more details. As a diagnosed Celiac sufferer for many years, I understand the importance of these details, and I have an such an appreciation for it. However, I feel berated by the interrogation they put you through. There's often a long line and you might as well announce with a megaphone your medical conditions after the line of questioning they impose. The corporate office needs to train the staff to just go ahead and take all the appropriate precautions when someone says yes to the allergy question and no to it just being a matter of preference. I appreciate the diligence they're trying to put forth, but not everyone will feel comfortable putting the nuanced details of their medical diagnoses on display just to order a pizza when they've already expressed they need it to be made free of any cross-contamination.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! If you ask for Gluten Free, specify if it needs to be "allergy" or "preference". They WILL gladly take it seriously, and their GF pizzas are SO excellent! Can't say enough, I'm very glad I live near this restaurant!!!

Great gluten free pizza!

Stopped by the same location twice on our way through town. Had the Jamaican Jerk chicken both times. They do maintain a separate area and had no hesitation following an allergy protocol. Great food, service.

Great dinner while visiting Highpoint University. Counter service and great efforts with safety precautions. When we told them it was for celiac, they wiped down all counters, changed gloves, and pulled out all fresh topping containers from inventory. Pizzas were really tasty on thin crisp crust. We tried the chicken bbq and margarita pizza. They also had David’s GF brownies!

Stopped by after a visit with my kiddo to the Discovery Place nearby. Located in a strip mall. Fairly quiet when we arrived and the person helping us was super nice. He immediately said he’d change gloves, offered to grab ingredients from below, and was very helpful. They offer gf crust and gf cauliflower crust. I had gf and it was crunchy and tasty. Good spot for a faster bite to eat.
