Had the rotisserie chicken which was really good. I didn’t have a problem with anything afterwards. I just stayed away from the family portioned sides

I ate at Zehnders last night and told the waiter I have celiacs and can have no gluten they have gluten free options. I ordered the rotisserie chicken and a salad with lettuce and cheese only and was up all night sick because I was glutened and am still sick today this restaurant is not safe for celiacs. I really wish restaurants would get onboard. this is why I am so scared to eat out I have had celiacs 3 years. Sucks

Had the rotisserie chicken and was advised which sides from the family style meal were GF. The onion soup was specially made with GF bread.

Heard many people say they can eat safely in the basement at Zehnders. Not the case for me. Chefs weren't that helpful. I had the roasted chicken and a side of cottage cheese. Within 15 minutes of eating started to not feel good. I should have known better we watched the chef that made salads use the same hand to cut Lettuce then dig into the croutons. Why I passed on eating just a salad. They also didn’t give me much info. Just a sorry, you can't have any sides or a roll.

Staff was very knowledgeable. Advised not to order buffet or family style. Four plated options clearly marked. Ordered the lamb chops and baked potato. Was delicious. They also brought me out homemade gluten free bread they made there, cottage cheese, coleslaw and cranberry relish. Which was wonderful to have all the options. Found out their bakery has certain days and one baker to make gluten free goodies and bread. Make sure to stop at the bakery downstairs to see what is available. Would eat here again.

We had a nice chicken dinner at zhender’s. The server was not very knowledgeable about what gluten free options they had. I was able to find the information online and shared it with her about what I could have. I ordered the French onion soup without bread and at first she brought me a regular soup but I double checked when she brought it and realized her mistake. I then explained that I will get very sick if she brings me something with gluten in it and she seemed to take it a bit more seriously. Once she brought me the right soup it was very good! I had the rotisserie chicken instead of fried chicken, a delicious dinner roll, the cabbage salad (the most delicious Cole slaw you will ever have), the cottage cheese had huge cheese curds in it which was amazing, I asked for a baked potato instead of the mashed potatoes, and I added the sausages with sauerkraut which were even better than the chicken! Overall I had a great experience and did not get sick from this meal but use caution and make sure you double check that everything is safe.

Downstairs in the bakery, in the weekends, they have gluten free bakery items! Bread, rolls, buns, cakes, cookies, cupcakes- all gluten free, individually wrapped and delicious!

Ate here tonight and had the Michigan Cherry salad with chicken on it. Was very good. Waitress was new, but was really nice and took my restrictions seriously. Gluten free bread was delicious. Was glad I looked at the menu ahead of time.

Went with family who wanted the gluten filled chicken dinner. Waiter was very helpful with GF options, menu has a few things marked. I got the Vidalia Onion soup. It came with a GF roll inside and melted cheese on top. Delicious! Also ordered the Michigan Cherry salad with grilled chicken (only on lunch menu) and it was delicious too. Waiter also brought a side of GF rolls which were warm and pretty good with butter and cranberry jam.

I saw chicken livers on the menu (I’m one of those weirdos who love them) and asked the hostess if they could be made GF. She checked with the chef and was told they could! Later I told my waitress that’s what I wanted when I gave her my spiel. They came with mashed potatoes on the menu. After ordering I asked her if the mashed potatoes were GF. She checked and they were not. (I think I taught her a lot about Celiac Disese through this process). So she offered me a baked potato. It seemed like she really took my requests/needs seriously and double and triple checked everything with the chef! I did not get sick 🥳

Had the chicken with veggies and also had an adverse reaction an hour later before we left Bronners.

Absolutely recommend- great Gf menu even had gf French onion soup that was delicious. Staff was very attentive to gf needs.

There are only 5 options on the gluten free menu. I got the salad and it was pretty good. The salad was the cheapest option at $14. Food is good but not sure if I'd come again because of the price.
I ordered the rotisserie chicken and sautéed vegetables from the gluten free menu, and it was delicious! I actually liked it more than the fried chicken I used to get there before my diagnosis.
They have a small gluten free menu. I had the sausage with sauerkraut and it was delicious. They even have special gluten free bread they can bring to your table. It was amazing. The bakery even has gluten free goodies.
Waitress was very knowledgeable!

Not a ton of options but the rotisserie chicken was delicious! We ate in the Z cafe in the basement which has even less items than the full restaurant upstairs.
Their non-breaded chicken was very good. They were able to substitute it into the famous chicken dinner, although it did severely limit sides (the Hubbard squash is held together with gluten, and there’s gravy and stuffing and bread). If you’re patient enough and have the self control, it’ll give you more food than ordering the rotisserie chicken off of the GF menu. That being said, if you aren’t overly hungry, the GF rotisserie chicken entree is very good (note that the veggies are cooked in butter. If you are dairy free, TELL THEM. We assumed that the veggies were steamed, and paid the price for our assumption). Overall, the food was very good.

I went here over the July 4th weekend. I was impressed with the quality of their food. I had beef tenderloin with Portabella mushrooms. This was delicious instead of just edible. I was surprised when the waitress brought me out hot gluten free rolls. There gluten free menu is short but options for everyone.

Our waitress was friendly and knowledgable. GF menu quickly upon request. I ordered my own plate even though the family style broiled chicken is GF. My GF son wanted the family style...we both ate and did not have any after effects of cross contamination. I am always weary of this and one of the reason I ordered a specific plate from the GF menu. Happy my son enjoyed his without getting sick as well.
The staff is NOT familiar with Gluten Free options, and what few they do have are not worth the price. They served our two GF dinners about 30 minutes after the regular dinners. It was a very poor experience.
All that being said, if you are not gluten free, it's a nice experience.
They have a gf menu, but I went in knowing the food choices would be less than those of my family, but was still saddened by the quality. I wanted the chicken but our server came back after ordering to tell me they were out.... Of chicken??? Their speciality?? So I went with the Sausage and sauerkraut. If was bland and forgettable. They also didn't include the veggies and the starch that the menu said came with the meal. When I asked the server said they didn't come with the meal and I didn't feel like arguing. He did bring me a baked potato but it was kind of cold. Huge letdown for what was supposed to be one of the best restaurants in town. Also, it's obnoxious that they offer GF bread down in their bakery, but won't give you some when they give it to everyone else at the table and you are paying $20+ a plate and already not able to eat many sides. I did get a brownie from the bakery after dinner and it was decent. I'm a celiac and didn't get sick.. But I will go to the barivian next time!

First they could not find a Gf menu, I had to ask 3 different people before I got one. As she brought out the bread, cheese and pate I asked for a Gf option. She said they didn't have any. I showed her the back of the GF menu where bread and biscuits are listed. She told me they were in the bakery where I could purchase them. The people with me were almost done before my cherry chicken salad arrived. Sadly the little bit of chicken was ice cold, dry and crusty (obliviously OLD). The dried cherries were hard and the "hand shaved" Parmesan cheese was absent. :( I sent it back then to add insult to injury I couldn't have dessert with my friends unless I went down to their bakery and purchase something to bring back to the dining room. If Zehnder's has a bakery on site, with GF items, why aren't they available to guests in their restaurant! I would check out their bakery, the GF items are wonderful, just skip the restaurant!!

Good food, short but good GF menu, most od the sides were gf. Bonus - they offered me about 6 different gf dessert options. I left full and happy!

I just wish they had more options on their lunch/dinner menu...
Although the staff was friendly and knowledgable about gluten, I was extremely disappointed in the food preparation. There were limited menu options, all of which were quite pricey, and I had to send my salad back twice due to cross-contamination. The first time I found a potato chip and the second time i found a crouton, both of which were buried in the lettuce. Luckily, I did not end up getting sick, and our waitress was sympathetic and felt awful, but I will not be coming back again.
