Outstanding experience and fantastic food. Eclectic tapas menu with great cocktail list. Literally the whole menu is gluten free except for the naan and toast that comes with the shrimp. But it’s on the side and can be replaced w a gluten free flatbread. So pretty much entire menu safe if you just watch the bread. Amazing service as well. Highly recommended for normal night out w friends if you have Celiac!

The food here is outstanding and menu is marked and 90% is gluten free… BUT… the hummus is served with regular gluten containing naan, even though the dish is marked gf. My own fault for not clarifying when I ordered… but sharing so no one makes the same mistake!

I have Celiac Disease and am extremely careful about where I eat and make sure I communicate thoroughly with the staff. Zhug has been a wonderful and safe place to eat. The manager has Celiac and they have a dedicated fryer (try the Yemenite fried chicken!). Amba is owned by the same chef with the same restaurant manager.

Just finished dinner, and it was FANTASTIC. So many choices, and 95% are gf. The only things that are not gf are the regular Naan (but they have gf Flatbread that is really good), and the toast points in one dish. They even have a gf beer and cider options as well as several choices of wine. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Took myself on a solo date here on a Monday night whim, and WOW was I so glad to have gone. #1 nearly the entire menu was gluten free, including all three dessert options. #2 unlike a lot of places that offer a gluten free dip with a sad/unappetizing bread substitute, Zhug makes their own gluten free bread, which I was assured was celiac safe by my kind, knowledgeable server. It was some of the BEST gluten free bread I’ve ever had. I ate the bread with a lamb/hummus dish and it was excellent, and I don’t particularly care for bread or hummus usually! Since I went at the end of the night they had run out of a few menu items which was disappointing but completely understandable. Disappointing because I was tempted to try everything on the menu!! I am not one for restaurant sundaes for dessert but the ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had, refreshing and full of flavor surprised and textures. I went to Cleveland to visit a friend, and I’m looking forward to my next visit for a lot of reasons but especially for the chance to eat here again!! Don’t miss it.

We try to come here at least once each time we visit Cleveland. The menu is clearly marked and almost everything is gluten-free. I can’t say enough about how incredible the food and service is. Its small plate approach makes it easy to try a variety of dishes. I love the GF flatbread with Muhammara dip (made with red bell pepper, walnuts and pomegranate molasses), the hummus and the curry chicken bites. You won’t be sorry you tried this restaurant especially if you’re up for something unique and memorable.

This must be what it feels like to be a normal person going out to dinner! The food is incredible, almost everything is gluten free, and the server was knowledgeable about celiac. Heaven!

I came here a year ago from out of town, knowing nothing about this restaurant. I thought I’d written a review after eating here, but I didn’t. After re-visiting this establishment, I recognize that the reason that I did not write an original review is because this restaurant is so perfect, so unbelievable, so delicious, that I entered a fugue state upon leaving and had no words to describe the sheer ecstasy that is dining here. So, I will give you a few thoughts/quotes from this evening:
This hummus is stupid. [See synonyms at: heavenly, otherworldly, the most delicious chickpea I’ve ever tasted.]
Idk if this gf pita is a house recipe, but it’s better than anything I’ve ever eaten.
*Shakes head, unable to speak, wondering how food can taste this good.*
We should have gotten married in this restaurant.
Gluten-Free Reader, I warn you: After you’ve eaten here, all food will be disappointing, forever.
Usually, this is where I list what I ate off the menu, but I don’t want to sway you. The right move is to come back over and over until you can eat everything. Because you can. Eat (almost) everything. No substitutions. No explanations. Just miracles.

FANTASTIC. We eat at a lot of great spots and this is the best meal we have had in months. 100% gluten free knowledgeable. Tons of choices. Amazing flavors. Go here.

I did not have an issue the one time I ate there. I would specify that you are ordering gf so that they are aware. For example, they were prepared to swap the normal pita that would come with the hummus for "gf bread" (corn tortilla). Food was good and I would like to eat there again. The waiter seemed knowledgeable about cross contamination.

Tasty menu. I love the saffron and date braised lamb. I enjoy the smaller sized dishes because it means I have room to taste more goodies with each trip. The curry fried chicken doesn’t taste too strongly of curry. It was good. Crispy on the outside. Juicy in the inside. The dipping sauce is scrumptious as well.
Quite a bit of the menu is gluten free. They have corn tortillas to dip in the za’atar.
For anyone who is avoiding oil… They are able to make all the salads without oil. The cauliflower can be made without oil. The pickles can be served without the tahini.

The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about celiac and cross contamination. Only 2 items on the menu were not gluten free. They have a dedicated oven and seperate kitchen space.
