Jimmy John's does not have gluten free bread for sandwiches, but you can order a sandwich wrapped in lettuce called an 'unwich'
Jared and the staff atJimmy John's make sure that my roast beef sandwichWhich was actually a lettuce wrapWas made safely. They went out of their way.

Usually I have pretty good luck at Jimmy Johns locations having a GF protocol/being conscious in general but this one was bad. It wasn’t a busy day but when I went in and asked for an unwich/explained I have a gluten allergy, I saw right away the lettuce wrap was set on the counter and brushed up against a baguette there. I told them I was really sensitive and asked if I could have a different lettuce wrap (nothing had been put in yet) and the employee threw the lettuce into the garbage and started a new on on some sandwich paper (clearly annoyed and angry). He never changed gloves and didn’t speak to me. I will never go here again.

My husband and I ordered from here tonight in a rush to get dinner. I have only eaten out 2x since being diagnosed, and I am always so nervous to tell someone about celiac’s. I mentioned it immediately when I called, and, I suspect it was the manager who I spoke to, assured me they have a separate area and protocol for gluten-free. He even thanked me for mentioning it up front so that they could alert the rest of the staff before I finished placing my order. I felt fine ordering and when my husband picked it up, the person I’d spoken with showed him the special area to make sure he knew it was safe, and placed my order in a separate bag.
I can’t speak to all locations, but I did have a very good experience at this one!

You can eat here but be on your toes!! Like most Jimmy John’s, you can go a lettuce wrap for most sandwiches. However, offering possibilities can be overcome by bad execution.
We had 3 orders ( 2 regular, one celiac), and 2 got TOTALLY messed up, despite us being the only customers that morning. Manager was very conscientious and helped intercept & redo the orders. Wrong meats, wrong sauces, wrong added items!!! We highly suspected a language barrier with the sandwich makers may have been in play, but the person entering the order also hit the wrong entries when taking our orders!
In the end, we got the right items and did okay avoiding reactions ( but we were using GluteGuard as a pre-meal enzyme…great product from Australia. Not to be confused with USA sound-allies).

They were open to changing their gloves but told me about 8 times “we can’t guarantee that it’s gluten free”, trying to get me to not order. I got it anyway and was fine! I worked at a Jimmy John’s for 2 years and if you do an Unwich with no mayo (ask for mayo packets on the side), no spreads, no lettuce (bread crumbs get trapped in the lettuce bin a lot), insist that they change their gloves, and ask them to be careful, you should be good! A quick and tasty lunch :)

Let me start by saying any Jimmy John’s I go to I never get sick when I order their unwich ! The unwich is their only gluten free sandwich and I DO NOT miss the bread it is lettuce wrapped and seriously delicious I would suggest adding their oil and vinegar and some Italian seasoning they have makes the lettuce tastier ! They also have a gluten free potato salad and list everything on their app and website including any allergens and gluten !

The Unwiches are typically a safe thing to eat. Their cheese at Jimmy Johns contains wheat. As long as it’s made without their cheese, the unwiches are safe.

food was decent for being in a lettuce wrap but they pretty deliberately don’t avoid cross contamination, so if you’re especially sensitive I wouldn’t chance it.

Like most fast food restaurants you have to be careful with cross contamination. However, just like at any Jimmy John’s they have an unwich which is just the regular sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. Very delicious, healthy, and a great alternative!

I told the employee i had a gluten allergy, and asked if they could change gloves to avoid cross contamination. He said yes, and i paid for my food. Nobody changed gloves. the guy was working with other subs and grabbed my lettuce wrap and pickle and cross contaminated everything. Needless to say i threw away my food, didn’t even risk getting sick. Go to Jersey mikes down the road.

Jimmy John’s has added salads to the menu so we went here for my very sensitive celiac daughter. They did a great job. New knives, new gloves, and a clean new cutting board.

The staff at this Jimmy Johns was wonderful and took such precautions to make sure my meal was safe. They have the ‘Un-Wich’ which is a great solution (I don’t eat much gluten free breads or grains so this is a great solution.)

Not safe for celiac but if you're only gluten intolerant and not worried about cross-contamination then the unwich (lettuce wrap) is good

Went for a lettuce wrap. Explained that I had Celiac and asked if they would mind changing gloves. They told me that they would not. Also said they would not make my wrap over fresh paper. Said they were specifically instructed NOT TO for people with gluten issues. I emailed the manager, and sure enough, that is their policy. If you tell them you have a gluten allergy/Celiac, they will NOT make any accommodations. No clean gloves, no fresh paper. I don't understand it, but obviously will not be back.

This one is tough….unwich is a great option for a tasty treat…..but hold the cheese and guacamole! Also mayo is spread on bun then put back in mayo jar so get the packets on the side. They will happily change their gloves for you, but that doesn’t mean all of the veggies that are in the containers haven’t been touched 20 times by contaminated gloves previously. If you are sensitive to cross contamination this is NOT the place for you sadly.

Lots of options here, as anything can be made as an “unwich” with lettuce. I’ve never had an issue. Just don’t forget that the cheese contains small amounts of gluten from barley!

Took a lot of care with my unwich and even was worried about my chips as her previous allergy clients have eaten any chips. The manager went into the back and checked the ingredients to make sure because her bag didn't list ingredients on it.
My food was made on a separate line with glove changes and fresh ingredients.

I got an “unwich” with turkey, tomato and guacamole. When I told them I was allergic to gluten, they changed gloves and put down extra paper to prevent cross contamination. They said that the cheese had gluten to prevent sticking, and used mayo packs too. I had no reaction later from the food.

Jimmy John’s does not offer any GF bread. However when I requested extra care when handling other items to avoid cross contamination, they were very mindful of that and I am very appreciative. I subbed a lettuce wrap for bread. Same great taste! JJ is something I’ve been missing since having to become GF.

The do not have gluten free bread. They have an unwich, so you can have any sandwich but in a lettuce wrap. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I have always asked for them to change gloves when they make my food, every time they have done it. I also ask for no mayo to avoid and cross-contact. They put down extra sandwich wrap sheets to prevent cross-contact with the surface they use to make other sandwiches. I have celiac and never gotten sick from eating here.

This location is not celiac friendly! The manager, Josh, does not understand cross contamination. He was using the same tub Mayo that he had used for breaded sandwiches. He is also rude and unapologetic. Do not recommend
Update:
Here is the reply I received from corporate:
Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. We can not guarantee no cross-contamination will occur as we prep most of our meats, cheese and veggies in-house. We do what we can to provide safe sandwich-making environments, but we do not change out all products in the cold-table. I'm sorry for the frustration and your feedback is shared with our teams.
Best regards,
MICHAEL BASZIS

JJ consistently is great about understanding the need to avoid gluten (I just tell them I have an allergy and they usually seem to get it) and change gloves, prepare carefully on a new paper surface as an un-wich (lettuce wrap). Thankfully haven’t had problems with CC. I also had the regular chips but be careful about the bbq chips. They have barley malt and I’m assuming that’s not safe!?
