We ate breakfast yesterday at Andy’s Restaurant in Crystal Lake. The owner walked us through the menu and procedures in place.
Gf toast-Udi’s put in broiler…not toaster…so no cross contamination
Gf hashbrowns-made fresh and cooked on a separate part of the grill that has a divider that is only used for hashbrowns so no cross contamination
All of their breakfast meats are gluten free…ham on the bone, sausage, bacon
Gf French toast, omelettes, skillets, eggs, scramblers, etc.
Lots of gf sandwiches…no deli meat. The turkey is roasted there, etc. Reubens, club sandwiches, etc.
Tuesday’s they make homemade vegetable soup that is gluten free
Friday’s they are open for dinner and they have lots of varieties of fish, etc. Fish will only be broiled to prevent cross contamination…not grilled or fried.
Closed Monday’s
Highly recommend!! Very attentive and knowledgeable. Food was delicious 😋
Sorry for the messy plate…I had already started eating before I remembered to take a picture for the group 💗 it

The owner Angie was very knowledgeable and accommodating- even telling me which days to come for GF specials (Fish on Friday’s- broiled; Tuesday’s for GF organic vegetable soup.) While they don’t have a GF menu- they do have GF buns and bread and put the toast in the broiler. No GF fries, but the hash browns are homemade and GF. The food was fresh and tasty and I felt safe eating there. So glad to find another safe place to eat nearby!

To anyone who is gluten-free, this is a place to stop at. Even though their menu is not Advertise that way we were able to accommodate two people for a meal. Just ask the server to help you out with items. Our family enjoyed a delicious breakfast. This place has a hometown feeling and made us feel welcomed. Ask for Jaime as the server she was outstanding, quick, efficient, mindful of our needs, and funny. Everything that came to the tables nearby looked yummy.

My mom and I regularly run errands in Crystal Lake, but I usually just wait to eat until I get home. I decided to give Andy’s Restaurant a try while we were in the area and I’m SO glad we did! The owner, Angie, was so helpful and explained how the kitchen handles gluten free orders, bringing up the “important questions” without me even having to ask them. I was able to get the vegetable soup (served on Tuesday’s) and a turkey melt on gluten free bread with hash browns. It was fantastic and I feel great the day after. This will be one of our go-to places now even though we don’t live super close.

I had the best experience here. I tried this restaurant for the first time today and it was delicious. The owner stopped several times to make sure I felt safe eating there and after I ordered she went back to make sure the chef was extra careful with my order. I had gluten-free french toast, they use Udi's bread and it is prepared in a separate mixture to reduce criss contamination. I will definitely be going back.

Knowledgeable staff and owner! They are aware of cross contamination! They don’t have a gf menu but they can go over options with you!

They are awesome, weve been a few times and never anything bad. Everything is delicious to boot.
They do have gluten free bread and hamburger buns. The owner, Angie is trying real hard to accommodate those that are gluten free. They are trying to get some gluten free pancakes as well. You can have French toast. I’ve been told they keep gf orders separate on their grills. Even the hash browns that are gf anyway are fixed on a separate grill.
Always good food have eaten there for two years now, never any issues.

Andy’s is a wonderful family restaurant in Crystal Lake. The food is fantastic. They offer gluten free bread and buns and have various gluten free options. The owner makes it a priority to take precautions to avoid potential cross contamination and is very helpful to offer menu suggestions.
