They have an extensive GF menu from flatbreads to tostados! Not your usual, 4 salads and a couple of chicken dishes and a couple of meat dishes. I was shocked to the point that I couldn’t decide what to order!😄 we were lucky to have an incredibly knowledgeable server who pointed out a mistake in the menu knew where there was some cross contamination. Natalie is a gem!

Extensive Gluten free menu. Top quality seafood prepared well. My favorite is their specialty “Yucatán Peel and Eat Shrimp” (it comes with GF flatbread for dipping in the spicy, lemon sauce). Fun atmosphere with outstanding location right on the harbor. Large outdoor bar and dining area is available on the dock level often has live music and is dog friendly. You can even arrive by boat and dock at the restaurant. If you don’t have a boat, you can enjoy watching the procession of craft through the harbor (everything from small inflatables, luxury yachts, working fishing vessels, and even the pirate tour boat). It can get crazy crowded at peak times and they don’t take reservations, but definitely worth the wait. I have eaten here often over the last seven years and have never been glutened or disappointed. A great Southwest Florida dining tradition.

Watch out! There is a big Gf menue but there was gluten found in our food. Also, They served a GF dish with a piece of wheat bread on top of the food. Just not careful!

The food and atmosphere were great, and the initial impressions were that the restaurant was taking gluten free seriously. Gluten free menu, the server was knowledgeable, and there were gluten free alternatives (we had gluten free bread as part of an appetizer). However, I discovered a penne pasta in my rice-based gluten free paella. To their credit, the server and manager both immediately recognized that this was a big error. They apologized, took several items off the bill, and gave me a gift card.

Overall, my impression is that the restaurant is trying to get this right, had done some training, but has some sort of gap on training or procedures in the kitchen that needs to be closed. Hopefully they can do so; I chose Doc Ford's as one of the few places in the area with a credible gluten free reputation and the food was very good. Thankfully I noticed the pasta before taking a bite so I avoided being glutened. However, I can't recommend the restaurant for celiacs until they fix their cross contamination control.

Great environment, great food, great service! There was some confusion with the kitchen and I had to send the food back but the waitress was super nice and understanding. After getting the food correctly, I did not get sick. Staff was knowledgeable about celiac—love that!

2 of the 4 of us are gluten free and enjoyed our meals, my daughter had a hamburger and I had the blackened grouper sandwich. The buns were way better than I was expecting, not your standard frozen GF buns. My husband (not GF) had the shrimp tacos and said they were really good. We’d definitely eat there again.

Ate supper here because I was so impressed by the GF menu that I saw online. It was super crowded so I was glad we made a reservation. However, I had to ask my waiter twice for the GF menu when he came to our table take our order (he came twice before he finally brought me the menu). Ordered the mozzarella tomato salad, shrimp & grits & 2 drinks (mojito & Sanibel sunrise which was super sweet). Food was brought out by a different person (not our waiter who I informed of my severe gluten allergy). The food tasted ok, not the best I've had but it was good. The problem was getting woke up at 2:30 am with belly pain & diarrhea. Was very disappointed!

The gluten free menu is huge and our waiter reassured me that anything ordered off of there would be prepared gluten free as if the person has celiac. I ordered the shrimp appetizer and it came with gf bread (did not expect this so I was nervous and waited to eat so I could ask and he reassured me again) Also ordered paella and split with my husband, plenty of food for the both of us, with awesome service and view. What a wonderful experience. We drove 30 minutes out of our way because of the gluten-free flatbread options (and, well, we love Doc Ford's and don't have one near us... yet) and the rest of the menu did not disappoint. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and sensitive to the celiac issue, and she had some great suggestions. The gluten-free bread option here isn't typically Udi's crap (sorry, guys, but, well... we all know it isn't the same) — it's a sort of unleavened (I know no GF bread is technically leavened) and actually tastes good. Not, you know, like doughy bread, but more like a soft flat pizza crust. I'm pretty sure it's the same base they use for the flatbread. We shared an order of the Yucatan shrimp and it was no issue (and no uncharge) to get half the accompanying bread GF and half gluten-filled (for my husband). It was a non-stressful, delicious evening I can't wait to repeat. Thank you, Doc Ford's!

So heartbreaking. Last night we went to celebrate my nieces bday. We have had many successful meals here. This time everything we ordered GF tested as gluten found with our NIMA. I double tested. I tested GF items we brought to make sure the device was working correctly and it was. But EVERYTHING that was prepared as gluten free was found to have gluten. My daughter who is 9 was in tears with disappointment. The manager was very kind and said she would work with the kitchen to correct this issue for the future.

I've ate here 6 to 8 times in the the past several years and never had any issues. Probably the safest place to go in F.M.B., and they have a huge gf menu.

Was able to get a mojito with gluten free rum, the bartender took the time to read my phone for which rums were GF and made my drink accordingly.
