I have eaten here twice, have gotten sick once and the time after I was fine. I saw them change their gloves which was helpful but was skeptical about cross contamination with placing foil on back bar with crumbs. Just be sure to let them know you are Celiac and to keep an eye out for their protocol!

USE CAUTION! I ate there last night. The girl who took my order was aware of Celiac Disease and assured me they change gloves and use caution. I explained I get violently ill and for how long. She told the first person at their backbar/counter of my Disease (I hate to call it an allergy). As I rounded the counter I immediately noticed how their back bar was full of crumbs and knew I would have to watch them to ensure the crumbs did not touch my food. She put the aluminum down and the bowl on top of it as usual. Then another worker came over, pulled the foil out from under the bowl, flipped it over and waited on my patties And then wrapped the foil over my bowl. I knew this wouldn’t work because now BOTH sides of foil had touched the crumb backbar/counter. I told the manager that I couldn’t eat it and why. He threw it out and made me a new one. The worker that moved the foil then rolled his eyes, shrugged and threw his hands in the air. He clearly has no idea how this disease and cross contamination will affect a Celiac. A person I was with told him that was unacceptable behavior & that I get very ill. Then he yelled at her. Five Guys is generally so good about their practices but this just proves we have to be our own advocates.
Excellent! Always get a burger lettuce wrapped and u can get their fries too. They are careful and wrap the lettuce nicely so it's not a huge mess to eat. I have eaten here probably 100 times and never have I gotten sick!
Yes
Order taker asks about allergy and informs cook staff. I like that I can see them following the protocols (change gloves, clean grill, etc). Dedicated french-fry fryer. Good food.

Refused to even serve me they said they can’t prevent any cross contamination even though the only gluten containing item in this location is the buns. Wouldn’t change gloves or utensils or anything just told me no.

April 26, 2014. These guys handle the 'Allergy burger' very well. Ask for it by that name, they'll know how to treat your food prep. They have a dedicated frier and make a mean lettuce wrapped burger. I always order extra lettuce and they don't fall apart. I never have an issue with cross-contamination at this chain.

They were so careful when preparing my burger and french fries. They do not have gluten free buns. The fries are safe to eat. I order a burger without a bun and bring in my own bun.

Ordered burger with no bun. Guy was helpful in answering questions. They hard a list of ingredients for different sauces. And marked it was for allergy on the order.
