The gf dessert chocolate torte was gf amd delish! Based on the other reviews and getting confirmation after calling that the fries were in a dedicated fryer, we decided to dine here. We tested the fries twice with a nima tester and both times they tested positive for gluten which was a real bummer.

The service here was terrible compared to the Kona location. The server didn’t know anything about celiac/gluten free, but we ate fish and chips based on the reviews here and didn’t get sick.
It’s worth the drive to Kona for service, but the menus are the same.

While their online isn’t clearly marked, we have Fosters a chance, and I’m so glad we did!! I had just been telling my boyfriend while walking to lunch that I would die for some GF Fish and Chips, well they had it!!! And they have a separate fryer for all the GF options!! I was blown away at the taste, from the fish to the fries(I upgraded to the garlic truffle fries 🤌🏼) this was my favorite meal while visiting the island because I felt normal again, eating fried food without a care in the world!! I will be returning to Foster’s anytime we visit the island!!!

Great food and service! They take gluten free seriously. Wait staff and the owner (who we spoke with) are knowledgeable. They have a dedicated fryer for the fish and fries. I’m glad we found this restaurant. The fish and chips were delicious and so was the flourless chocolate tort.

All the fish and chips are made gluten free in a separate gf fryer! I ate them twice during my stay in Kona and they were wonderful.
What was EXCELLENT was the fresh fish of the day - the Ono!!! Wow wow WOW!! I choose to substitute the garlic mashed potatoes instead of the white rice - and the chef did an excellent job with my fish, potatoes, and crisp nicely seasoned veggies!

Gluten free options on the menu and the server knew what he was talking about but the food just wasn’t very good… had the Cajun fish tacos and the calamari and it was just sort of bland despite being gf :( no reaction so though so I guess that’s a plus?

Tasty food, reasonably priced for the area given portions and cuisine! I had the fish tacos and was satisfied. Limited GF options (maybe 5 or 6 dishes). Menu does say all burgers can be made on a wrap, but doesn't specify further. None of the sides are labeled GF.

We are here 3 out of our 7 nights in Hawaii. Not only do we have 3 GF people in our family but I also have nut and seed allergies and they were great with everything! The food was awesome with really good portions and the service was fast! We had the fish and chips, the fries (delicious), the fish tacos (good but spicy) and the ribs and chicken. All very good!

This restaurant quickly became our go-to lunch & dinner spot. The staff and cooks are very knowledgeable about gluten allergy needs and the need to prevent the possibility of cross-contamination. They have a good selection of gluten free entrees, appetizers and desserts. Every meal was delicious and I had no reactions. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was really good with no reaction. There were quite a few gluten free options. I wouldn’t return to this location because we had a really, really rude waiter. We have our 10 year old wheat allergic son order his food so he can understand how to order with his allergy and alert others to his dietary restrictions. He’s been doing this for years and does a very good job at it. The waiter was very rude to him when he asked a question about the menu to clarify if an item was safe (basically acted annoyed my child talked to him, didn’t answer the question, and when I tried to answer my son’s question told me that his time was precious and we were wasting his time then walked away and came back 10 minutes later, again reiterating that his time was precious) . We chose a non busy time to eat (2pm) because we understand that trying to figure out gluten free menu questions can be hard during peak times, so the restaurant was not crowded. The waiter continued to make condescending comments to my son and my party during the meal every time he came back to the table. My child was sitting in his chair and not being loud or disruptive. This place has a children’s menu so it wasn’t like it was an adults’ only place. They had a gluten free chocolate cake and also sorbet on the menu so we’d planned to stay for dessert but our experience was so bad, we were all ready to go. There is another location in Kona and I would definitely go that one next time.

I ordered the fish and chips 😭 I'll never miss an opportunity to get something fried that's gf. Server was very knowledgeable. Fryer is separate. The fish was a little too crunchy, but amazing for someone that doesn't get to order fish and chips. My wife got the shrimp and grits which were also great. Mushroom app was also really good. They have lots of drinks including cider. Overall, it was very good.

The server was friendly and pleasant. The fish and chips was good but only 3 mid to small pieces of fish. The side of coleslaw was very tiny. Same size container as a small ketchup cup. The 1/2 rack of ribs was a bit dry but had a good amount of meat. Overall a bit pricey for quality and amount of food you get.

Went here for my 18th birthday a couple nights ago and ate the BBQ Ribs and chicken as well as dessert. All fries are made in the gluten free frier as well as the gluten free items. Anything gluten is made in a separate frier! 👍 I have severe celiac and asked the waiter to put in a note on the order. I did not get sick.

The restaurant is in the “King’s Shops” outdoor mall directly across from A-Bay’s. The menu has items clearly marked as GF and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They are a little short staffed at the moment, which will likely add to your wait times. But don’t let that deter you. My son who has celiac disease had the ribs. He LOVED them. The rest of the members of our party had the crab cakes, buffalo chicken sandwich and the Fish & Chips (the latter was also GF). We all loved our meals. The food was really fresh and tasty.
In fact, we enjoyed our meals so much that we visited the restaurant’s location in Kailua the following day while we were touring Kona. While it was a different location, it had the same quality food. My Celiac son ordered the Fish & Chips that his younger brother ate the night before and loved it. The rest of us has burgers and sandwiches, all of which we’d order again if we went back.

Restaurant within the outdoor shopping area at the resort.
Food is typical American/bar food and tasted delicious. Limited gf options, but the staff is all great at answering questions about their gf practices. All of the food tastes great and no complaints at all!
The fries are GF! Be cautious of the paper straws as they do contain gluten.

GF items are clearly marked on their menu which is nice, however I still felt off after eating the catch of the day, so I think cross-contamination isn’t considered. The alcoholic drinks were tasty, but the calamari appetizer was probably a 3/5, but the catch of the day and the burger my husband got (not gf) were at best 1/5. Over cooked and over seasoned. I don’t recommend.

Fosters was a great find! Their gluten free options are limited but their gluten free fish and chips and fish tacos are delicious. I felt comfortable with our servers confidence and knowledge. The questions i had that she couldn’t answer she went and asked. They have cider and spiked seltzer for adult drink options as well as wine. I didn’t get sick and went back a second time during our vacation. I would highly recommend Fosters.

Ordered fish and chips aka fries. Very good. No wheat flour in the place. All friers are used for everything, but they only use cornmeal as their flour base so it's good to go. Celiac and very sensitive and did not have any issues. Food came out quick and delicious.

Good for standard GF options (burger without a bun, salad, etc.). They have GF fish and chips that were coated in corn meal and pretty good. The fries are also safe from cross contamination because only the GF fish is fried in it. HOWEVER, you really have to be on it when receiving food. Their wait staff is more knowledgeable than their cooks and I had to send food back on two separate days (my salad included croutons and then my burger came out with sourdough bread). They were really apologetic and replaced it both times. I didn’t feel sick after eating either so their re-fire was good.

Lots of items marked on the menu, EXCEPT MOST OF IT IS NOT SAFE FOR CELIACS!! We were told everything goes into the same fryer. No dedicated fryer? The reviews we read that made us choose this place said there was. This eliminates fish and chips, which doesn't matter because a member of our party had it and it wasn't good. The staff didn't seem to be very knowledgeable. The ribs were finally verified to be safe. They were smoky and just ok. Just be extremely careful if you try this place although I can't recommend this one. We were disappointed. This location was so much better as Three Little Pigs and the Koa Tree.

Amazing! I have not had any good experiences here in Hawaii with food being that I am Gluten Free.... Well, I just found GF heaven! They are so careful, knowledgeable, and the food is amazing! They use as many locally sourced food products as possible. But that just makes it even more amazing! Ask for Jahi when you go! Talk about an amazing person, but also so amazingly knowledgeable! Has a great dining experience! We will be back a lot!
