Pulled pork and potato salad. They marked allergy and no reaction. Delicious and non gluten people were happy to get to eat here with me.

I've always loved Joe's KC but recently got a really bad reaction about 3 weeks ago and am still recovering. Unfortunately I have to eliminate this place from my go-to indulgences now. And hopefully they will be more attentive to cross contamination for others but it's definitely not safe for celiacs.

We’ve enjoyed going here a few times. They ask if ordering gf if it’s an allergy or preference. If allergy, they tell everyone down the line so that they can ensure safety all the way through. I’m gluten sensitive and my son has an allergy - he’s very cautious and has had no issues wearing here. Gf bun this time was dry, so I’d skip that but the meats and fries were delicious!

My NIMA Sensor came back with Gluten in the fries after being assured they were in a dedicated fryer. Good news though, my burnt ends and ribs were Gluten-Free!

It is post covid so EVERYONE is having trouble finding help..BUT our over the phone was all wrong. They put bread on my son’s food. He is our celiac, so he had to trade with his dad to have something to eat. We were really bummed. They did give us an apology when we called and gave us a full refund.

All their meats are GF/DF. We get the beans as those are also. The staff is very good about changing gloves and shouting out allergy.

The seasonings they use on their meats are gluten free. The staff is knowledgeable and will change gloves without prompting. They have gluten free buns or you can order meat by the quarter pound.

Some of the best BBQ I've had! All meats are GF. Fries are safe and not cross contaminated. GF buns. Highly recommended for a safe meal.
We ate here while traveling through town. I have celiac and am very sensitive to cross-contamination and did not have any problems. At a friend’s suggestion, I had the Z-Man (no onion rings) on a GF bun and it was very good. The fries are made in a dedicated frier, so I was able to eat those as well. In response to the reviewer who was concerned about msg, this ingredient is not a valid concern for people with celiac or gluten sensitivity in general. Many celiacs also have other food sensitivities—lactose intolerance being a common example—but that doesn’t mean that all additional sensitivities apply to all individuals with celiac. Here is some background on msg: https://www.glutenfreedietitian.com/monosodium-glutamate/

Staff was helpful and friendly. They changed their gloves and used gf buns. Dedicated fryer for the fries. We'll definitely be back.

I have eaten here for years before I was diagnosed and now years after I still eat there. The workers know how to prepare gluten free. You can either get a sandwich with just the meat or they do have a gluten free bun. Personally I get the bun on the side, take it home and toast it, and put it together. It is amazing that way. The fries and seasoning on the fries are gluten free. They will ask if it us a gluten allergy and mark the ticket accordingly to make sure it is safe. I love going here because I have confidence that I will not get sick.

Loved the z man burger and fries l. Server made sure there no onion rings on the burger

Gluten free option, wonderful food and great service.

Dedicated fryer, gluten free buns (75¢ upcharge), and all rubs, seasonings, and sauces are gf. Aside from all that, their food is delicious!
Staff very knowledgeable, have a dedicated fryer for fries, and the best gluten free buns I've ever had! This bbq is amazing and so many gluten free options (pulled pork, brisket, burnt ends, smoked turkey, all sauces, fries, potato salad, etc). We always stop back to buy some meat by the pound before we leave and I've never gotten sick.
Very knowledgeable. Great food. Almost everything is gf on menu so a great selection. Fries are in dedicated fryer.

Beef brisket & fries were delicious and I feel great!

LOVE Joe's! Food is wonderful. If you tell the person when you order that you have celiac they yell to the whole line that there's an alergy coming through and they all change their gloves. We eat hete all the time, I've never gotten sick. Also we have a friend who eats here because they accomodate his dairy alergy. The fries are GF they have a dedicated fryer.

Very celiac friendly!!!! Best BBQ ever!!!!!!!!
So good! I love this BBQ

Great food and they are careful about cross contamination.

Fries are gluten free! Anything but bread. Always good.
This place is super busy, and prices are reasonable. HOWEVER...the thing that is not revealed or mentioned in any of the previous reviews is that the 3rd ingredient in their Joe's house seasoning is MSG, (Monosodium Glutamate) and this makes people with a gluten sensitivity or allergy extremely sick. It's sprinkled all over their fries, and the chicken is loaded with it. We ordered fries without the seasoning on it and I tried to cut off all the chicken that it was visibly on but I still have a headache from being exposed to it. If you are able to eat here and don't have a reaction, it is possibly you don't have a gluten allergy.

This is my favorite BBQ place in KC, and has been for years! I was thrilled to find out that even though I've had to give up gluten due to an allergy I can still enjoy most of their menu items! Obv no bread, but the sauces, spices and meats and most of the sides are still safe. They always change their gloves and are quick to call out down the line to alert the other staff about an allergy issue.
I called in advance to check if dedicated fryers and the answer is yes! He also indicated that the BBQ sauce and the spices were GF. They changed their gloves and were very helpful when we went there in person. I love their fries and BBQ!

Lots of options, knowledgable staff!
I was bummed for quite some time not being able to eat here anymore. Just found out they went GF with majority of the menu. It was just as tasty as I remembered!

They stated the meats and sauces are gluten free. Ribs and chicken are my favorite. Potato salad and slaw as well. May want to call and see what else they have available.
The best BBQ in town (KS & MO sides) and the safest for celiacs! Flys are GF, sauces are GF, everything can be made on a GF bun or bunless and literally YELL allergy when you tell them and double check with you. I have eaten here for years and never had issues.

At the original location, they are fantastic for those with celiac disease. They take precautions the moment I say I have celiac disease, have a dedicated fryer, and I have never been sick.
The Olathe location was the opposite experience. I didn't get sick, but they rolled their eyes and behaved poorly when I asked them to change their gloves.

Thought we would try this place as it was highly recommended in other reviews, but when we visited the Kansas City Live location, the restaurant manager refused to serve someone with a gluten allergy. He said there was way too much risk and tons of cross contamination in the kitchen. No separate prep space and potentially gluten in some seasonings and sauces. We won’t be back, sadly.

Loved the food! The bun crumbles BUT I can’t remember the last time I had gluten free bbq food. I’ve been here twice, got the brisket and haven’t been sick. They ask when ordering if it’s an allergy vs a preference, which makes me feel safer.
