This is our family’s go-to restaurant. Our family has symptomatic celiac and very sensitive to cross-contamination. We’ve been frequenting this establishment for years. I’ve never had a reaction there. My son loves their sweet and sour chicken. My only non-celiac child loves it and often prefers the gluten-free options. Highly recommend!

I had a great experience here gluten-free wise! Ask them for a gluten free menu before they seat you. The things not crossed out can be made gluten free if you ask! I got a garden salad, sweet and sour chicken and they gave me an extra scoop of fried rice instead of the wonton. I think a soup was also an option instead of the extra rice. I felt like the sweet and sour chicken wasn’t very flavorful but I could get something else next time. It was fun for me to try actual breaded and fried chicken! It was crispy. P.F. Chang’s will probably always be the best gluten free though!!

Love this place! I've only ever eaten inside the restaurant (no online or take-out), and had the same waiter most times. He's super knowledgeable about the GF menu and offerings. Tried many of their GF items and they've all been delicious. Never been sick. I definitely make it a point to visit when in the area or craving good Chinese food.

Asked for the gluten free menu. Ordered “gluten free” food got home and was extremely sick from the food. Either there was cross contamination or it wasn’t gluten free.

I used the online ordering system for take-out but it is not very intuitive. I ordered General Tsao’s chicken GF for celiac and immediately received a call that they could not do it GF. They suggested Tangerine Chicken instead. It was clearly labeled GF and delicious but I was so sick the next day. Not sure if changing the order midway messed things up but I was definitely glutened here. Sad, because I have had success here several times as well as their Woods Cross location. The Woods Cross location DOES offer General Tsao’s GF so I won’t be going back to Sandy.

The GF menu was a laminated version of the regular menu, with the non-GF items crossed off. Although the item I chose, Happy Family, has char-sil (pork including gluten, which they forgot to cross off), the waitress made sure that it was NOT included in my meal. They brought it separately packaged, so my husband could bring it home and eat it. I felt safe eating here, as a celiac. Obviously don't eat the fortune cookie but make sure to read your fortune.

Last year when we attended the Gluten Free Expo in Sandy, Utah, I ate here everyday!
We got takeout 🥡 and everything was labeled with a gluten free sticker. They even provided individual packets of GF soy sauce.
🌾🚫 A wide variety of items can be made gluten free! Upon asking about gluten free options, I was provided with a menu that showed all of the items that can be made gluten free. The items that couldn’t be made gluten free were crossed out.
Joy Luck Restaurant takes gluten free orders very seriously with cooking precautions to eliminate cross contamination issues.
This is not a dedicated GF establishment, so it’s always good to stress about having Celiac and asking about their GF cooking precautions.
Everything we ate was so wonderful and I had absolutely no cross contamination issues!
My absolute favorite item was the mango 🥭 chicken!
Items I had were: Mango chicken, strawberry chicken, broccoli chicken with tofu, house mandarin noodles, house fried rice, creamy egg drop soup and chicken lettuce wraps

I’ve heard Joy Luck recommended many times in local Utah GF groups, but we just tried them for the first time this week and were blown away. We got takeout and online ordering was so easy and set up to mark allergies as well as adding notes to each item. When I went in to pick up our order, someone came out from the kitchen and walked me through everything. Items were bagged by allergen (we have but and egg allergies in addition to celiac), items were all marked individually with their allergen consideration, and he walked me through how the breaded items are prepared to assure me they were both gluten and egg free. When I thanked them, their response was thank you for trusting us! The food was great, and there were no reactions.

Just a heads up they are closed until August 8th for annual vacation.
Bummer for me.
This is my family’s go to restaurant for special occasions. The food is amazing and we have been here several times and we have never gotten sick. You do have to ask the server for Gf food and they will get you a list of what you can have. You can order almost anything from the menu and the best thing is it doesn’t cost more to get it gluten free. I have recommended this restaurant to multiple friends both celiac and non celiac. None of my celiac friends have gotten sick and my non celiac friends say that it is the best Chinese food they have had.

Joy Luck is not a dedicated GF restaurant. I always try to keep that in mind when eating out at a regular restaurant that offers GF menu items. We had a great first experience at Joy Luck in Sandy. We told our server I was a celiac & he guided us through the menu without missing a beat. We ended up chatting with him for awhile after we got our food. He told us they have so many great reviews about their GF food that many people come in believing they are a dedicated GF restaurant & fail to inform their server that they need GF food. He said they deliberately don’t advertise their GF options (which is possible with almost the entire menu) because they are not a true GF restaurant. That said, they do a great job of respecting GF customers. As with any non dedicated GF restaurant, cross-contamination will always be an issue but I did not get sick. I was so happy to finally have an option for good GF Chinese food!

Joy Luck usually does a pretty decent job with gluten-free orders. However, I recently acquired a NimaPartners gluten sensor and tested the gluten-free orange chicken, and the result was that gluten was found. The ham-fried rice did test as gluten free.

I have been diagnosed with celiac disease for 9 years and I have been wishing I could find Chinese food that taste good. Joy Luck was SO GOOD!! I thought I might cry tears of “joy”!! I got the Tangerine chicken and it tasted like tiny spicy chicken! None of the appetizers that are served with lunch are gf but they gave me a free appetizer that is usually served with dinner! Their soup was also delicious! I’m also a camel so I drank lots of water and my server was so good!! Joy Luck was so good to me I will be coming here again!! Id recommend this, its a 10/5 stars joint

I got the hot and sour soup and tangerine chicken. I have celiac so I substituted vegetables for the appetizer (none of which are gluten free). They use potato starch and corn starch for their battered goods, which is great for someone who has to eat gluten-free. The server was very helpful in crossing out gluten-containing items from the menu for me. I hadn’t had Chinese since my celiac diagnosis, and I was in heaven here. I’ll definitely be back.

Great place! The front waiter knew exactly what could be done or what couldn’t immediately and gave me a marked menu to take with. None of their lunch appetizers are gluten free so they give you extra rice. My food was marked with stickers and they still gave me fortune cookies (marked not safe) to read even though I can’t eat them. Would highly recommend and will be returning as I work super close and am so happy to have discovered this place thanks to this app.

Very gluten-aware! Though their menu doesn't mention it, 90% of their menu can be made gluten-free, they use separate fryers, and they have gluten-free soy sauce! Food is kind of bland, but still higher quality than a lot of Chinese food in the area (no "bad" pieces of chicken, where many places you end up discarding a bunch as inedible.) Absolute must-visit for lovers of Chinese food with Celiac!

This location is so much better than the bountiful location. The food tastes better, in my opinion. It's so nice to go somewhere where I can eat Chinese food again. One of the owners has celiac disease, so about 95% of their menu is gluten free. We've even been able to order the lo mein and they replaced the regular noodles with gluten free noodles. We've had the orange chicken, mango chicken, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, and egg drop soup. All gluten free. Really good food!

Waiter who took my to go order knew exactly what options I could eat for lunch. Both lunch soups were gluten free and since the appetizers have gluten, they give you the option of double rice OR edamame beans! The waiter also informed me they use natural flavors instead of adding extra sugar to their dishes whenever possible.
They also have mango sticky rice for dessert!

I had read many glowing reviews about Joy Luck Restaurant in the Gluten Free Utah Facebook Group. A member said that the server was very knowledgeable and marked the menu as what was/could be made gluten free. My husband and I decided to try it tonight for our Date Night. When I called to order take out I mentioned that I had heard that they could do gluten free and he immediately confirmed it. When we arrived in the crowded parking lot and went in to get our order, the owner told us that their family has a member who has Celiac (the same or another has a peanut allergy) and talked with us a bit about how they have worked to find food manufacturers that now have good quality and good tasting gluten free ingredients. The food was quite tasty and we will definitely be going back with our son (Celiac, too). It's so wonderful to be able to eat Chinese food again!
