I am not sure if they changed since the other reviews, but when we went for lunch there were only 2 items in the menu marked gluten free. The bottom of the menu indicated they do NOT have a gluten-free kitchen area.
That being said, my wife had the baked island fish which was delicious and she did not have any reaction (gluten- sensitive). The waiter had knowledge of gluten and indicated what could be modified to be gluten free.
Food was delicious and the view was wonderful. We would go again knowing the limited menu.

Wonderful place to eat! Came again in 2023 and it was better than ever and had more gluten free options. Our waitress was very informed and understood celiac and cross contamination, said they have a separate GF prep area, their grill has a dedicated GF area, and their baked fish items are baked in their own individual pans. GF items marked but they do let you know of quite a few other menu items they can make gluten free. I had their Kimos style baked fish and subbed mashed potatoes as my side.

We have been coming to Kimo’s for three decades and this was likely the best food and experience.
Two members of our party have Celiac. The waitress was very knowledgeable and informed us that the Jasmine rice that came with the fish had wheat berries in it and we could order mashed potatoes or plain jasmine rice. She checked to he certain that the potatoes were not boiled in pasta water, but newly drawn water. We had no problems afterward.
The food was outstanding. The mahi-mahi Kimo’s style had a rich basil sauce and the fish was like butter.
The gluten-free desert was very nice, very “island” like. One caution, the menu does not describe the crust as being macadamia and almond, so if you have allergies, be warned.

Such a beautiful spot to have dinner! I got the shrimp salad which was very tasty. Our server was very knowledgeable about Celiac and guided us through the menu. She alerted the kitchen about my order which made me feel very comfortable. Overall, a great spot!

The server, Sasha, was so considerate about the gluten free options. I had the catch of the day with coconut rice, it was delicious. I also had the mango cocktail and had no reaction after the food. The server who brought out the plates had been made aware that mine was the gluten allergy plate, which was really nice!

Upon first glance, I was a bit panicked that only 3 or so items were labeled as gluten free on the menu. I had trusted the reviews on here (and on YouTube) to guide me to a well-respected, sage restaurant. Fortunately, after talking with our server, we found that many of the menu items were easily made gluten free (like swapping out the type of rice or by choosing tamari instead of soy sauce). Our server was very knowledgeable, and explained that most items aren’t labeled as gf simply due to cross contamination risk. But we felt safe ordering modified meals and really appreciated that they had tamari. We had the sashimi appetizer, baked mahi mahi, and shrimp salad.

Beautiful spot on the water. Top notch service from our waitress Katie. She explained every dish in detail and 100% understood the needs of a celiac and the intricacies of gluten free substitutions. Always a relief and the food was delicious!!

Amazing food! Actually ate here 4 times over a 3 week vacation because it was delicious and I felt extremely safe. Staff was very knowledgeable, they had gluten free options that weren’t marked on the menu, just ask the server! One visit the server delivered the food and said please don’t eat anything on anyone else’s plate because their food wasn’t gluten free or safe for me 😆 Pretty spendy but worth every penny.

Very celiac aware. I ordered a bbq burger without bun (although they do offer a GF bun). Kitchen called down and informed me that the bbq sauce was not gluten free. They offered salad or rice as sub for fries (shared frier). Overall, great experience

Although the menu may look like not much is gluten free, the kitchen accommodations were readily available. A simple substitution of coconut rice made most entrees gluten free. Server was knowledgeable too.

I saw on this Find Me Gluten Free app that the fish tacos could be made gf. The wait for regular seating was over an hour but there was no wait to sit at the bar. When I ordered I specified that I needed gf and requested corn tortillas for the fish tacos. I saw from our receipt that the bartender had correctly marked my order gf, but the tacos came with fried tortilla strips. I asked if they were fried in oil with other items that had gluten and he said yes. There was no offer to substitute for anything else. He did consider fries then realized they were fried the same way. If my ticket was marked gf, I’m wondering why they would add cross contaminated tortilla strips? The tacos were good and perhaps if we had had a server taking care of us the experience would have been different. If you happen to come here and order fish tacos ask for rice instead of tortilla strips.

Amazing baked fish! They have a lot of options if you tell them you have an allergy. This was some of the best fish I’ve ever had. They subbed a salad for the macaroni salad.

I informed my waitress that I had celiac and she was very comforting and reassuring that it was safe to eat. I had the mash potato and the wedge salad. When I ordered the salad she ran back to the kitchen to ask if that would be possible gluten free and came back to tell me the walnuts had to be removed. The fact that she checked and made a change made me feel good ! Food was great and the view is even better !! Definitely recommend but play it safe. I didn’t try and meat because of the grill cross contamination chances.

Staff was knowledge and very helpful. I had grilled fish and mashed potatoes at his suggestion it was great. We had Hula Pie and he reminded me not to eat the crust!
Aside from the waiter saying “I’m sorry that you are gluten free because all of the good things have gluten”, they were knowledgeable and friendly. There were limited food options but they were still careful.
Same owners as Dukes in Waikiki...similar menu. They have two menus. A bar menu and a dinner menu, so clarify when you're being seated. Great bartenders. Will sub gf alcohol for cocktails (if you know what alcohol is GF, had to do my own research based on what was behind the bar). Menu has disclaimer that their kitchen is NOT GF, but ingredients are gf. They call it gluten conscious. On bar menu, there are two gluten conscious options, the shrimp cocktail and the steak wedge salad. Five stars for excellent service. Three stars for only gf options but not many options as far as food prep.

The server was very knowledgeable and recommended the fish. The fish was cooked separately in its own pan and served with a salad.

Had a few gluten free options. I had the baked fish - was delicious. Waitress knowledgeable. Even brought out gluten free soya sauce for the rice.

Love this place!! Best dinner all two weeks in Hawaii. We ended up coming here twice. The servers are very aware of GF allergies and confirms wether or not you have celiac disease. Most anything on the menu can be prepared GF. They will happily work with you to help you find/make an amazing meal. All the servers work well together and they even have designated cocktail waitress to make sure you don't need to wait long to get a refill. Fish is caught locally and is extremely fresh. Highly recommend this place!! Make a reservation ahead of time or come after 8PM. Big shout out to our servers and cocktail waitress Nick, Drew, and Emily.

When I informed the waitress I was celiac she seemed aware of what that was. The manager came out to ensure me that the entire staff had been informed of my food allergy. The food was delicious. View was wonderful. I would return.
Kimo's had several gf dishes. Seafood, steak, and prime rib. They have gf sorbet. It was good. The waiter was knowledgeable about GF
We sat to eat lunch here because the hostess said they had a dedicated GF menu but our waitress said she would not recommend anything due to cross contamination so I ordered a fruit bowl. The manager came by and acted like they could do almost anything gluten free but I did not trust it.

Yes, they do list on their menu what is gluten free, but the food is pedestrian. Nice cocktails and view though.
Gluten free menu with decent options. The lobster tails were incredible!
The gluten free menu is limited, but the dish I had was excellent and flavorful. Our server was knowledgeable of what I could and couldn't eat and what was in all the dishes.
