I was really excited to eat here because of the great reviews. I came for the lobster roll and ended up getting sick. They were out of the gf lobster roll bun so it came on two mini sliders that were old and hard. The lobster itself was very good. The server said the fries could be made in a separate fryer, so that was also a plus. All in all, ok food, overpriced and be careful if you have celiacs!

Overall I give this place a “meh”. I will start off by saying that in addition to being strictly GF, I also don’t eat seafood. That limited my options significantly but that is not the fault of the restaurant. We chose to eat here based on the rave reviews but I was not impressed. There are so many better places in Boston. For example, I asked about a dedicated fryer in regards to the French fries and our server said they did not have one, which is contrary to other reviews. Our server was knowledgeable about cross contamination which I did appreciate. To make my burger GF, they pan seared it and I had no bun. Not terrible but, again, not great. My non-GF husband got an expensive scallop dish that was a very small portion.

This was our first time to any Legal Seafood, and we selected it while traveling in Boston specifically because of its celiac-friendly reputation. We. Were. Not. Disappointed. Everything, from our waiter’s well-versed understanding of our gluten-free concerns, which immediately put us at ease, and the number of gluten free options on the menu (literally ALL of the fried fish is gluten free, plus there were many other choices available), to the quality of the food, were AMAZING! The regular non-gluten-free New England clam chowder was the best I’ve ever had (so your non-celiac dining companions should def try it) and my husband’s brothy gluten-free light chowder was delicious, as well. Grilled shrimp with jalapeño polenta and kale salad, fried calamari with hot peppers, and fried whole belly clams were excellent. They even brought gluten free dinner rolls. The best part was how comfortable we felt knowing they truly understood my husband’s dietary needs so we were completely relaxed, which is rare for a celiac dining out. Only downside? Ice cream was the only gluten-free dessert on the menu. Not complaining, though. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!

At first there was a bit of confusion with the waiter but afterwards, the manager came to see us and assured the fish&chips would be 100% safe. So I had that and they topped it with their onion strings and even served us a cup of their chowder! Totally recommend!

Exceptional! For Celiac sufferers, I cannot imagine a better experience. GF options are marked on the menu and extensive. They have a dedicated GF frier, so you can even enjoy fish and chips or fried clams in GF batter. They also have GF rolls. Our non-GF friends had their food brought out by our server, but all the GF items were brought out by a manager to ensure no cross contamination. Legal really goes above and beyond to cater to GF diners. We would highly recommend to GF locals like ourselves or tourists looking for fresh New England seafood without the risk of gluten cross contamination.

Best restaurant so far for celiac friendly. All fried food uses a GF coating so my daughter could eat almost anything she wanted including the fried shrimp! The GF rolls were delicious. The service was fantastic both our waiter and the manager were knowledgable and attentive.

They do a great job with cross contamination. They cook food in a separate pan instead of on a grill. I have multiple food allergies, so I stick to the grilled items and plain vegetables, but it's well prepared. I may bring my own side sauce for steamed broccoli in the future. The manager brought out my meal and you can talk to the chef or your waiter/waitress to your heart's content. They also made me my own special course when everyone else had bruschetta. I had watermelon with mint and citrus. Tasty and refreshing!

I had dinner here this evening, and my sever was exceptional. The gluten free rolls were great, Salad was wonderful, I ordered the fisherman platter as finding gluten free fried food is next to impossible. They were more than happy to substitute scallops for something else as I can't eat scallops. It was extremely yummy, the white fish was a little boney. It was a very large helping perfect for two or left overs. For dessert I tried there chocolate parfait as it's the only gluten free dessert option other sorbet. It wasn't very good chalky and tasteless which is the only reason I offer four stars instead of five.

great food! staff very helpful and fairly knowledgeable of GF concerns. dedicated GF menu. manager specifically brought out my wife's GF meal, as noted in other reviews. they did have a GF flourless chocolate cake, more like an oversized truffle, that was pretty tasty! we definitely did not go away hungry. loved it! went to am overpriced Italian joint in the north side, and would go back to LSF way before the Italian joint!

This place is HUGE. 2 floors that literally serve hundreds (we asked). The GF menu is extensive & waitress helpful & efficient despite the place being full of people. Wine list is maybe too long. :-) We enjoyed our meal. The GF menu doesn't list dessert but they have a GF cookie box - just ask.

The menu is extra clear with what is gluten free or not. The fry batter used is totally gluten free, and the serving staff is wicked conscious of allergens. Upon alerting the staff of the severe allergy, they took extra note and had the chef who prepared the meal bring the gf plate out. Their caution paid off as I did not get sick afterwards.
