The number of gf options was lessened significantly when our server told us they have a shared fryer and don't recommend people with celiac get anything with a fried component. I then found one piece of something fried in my salad (I'm guessing there was some unintended mixing of ingredients in the kitchen salad station). The good: service was great, atmosphere was nice. I'm just disappointed after reading all the amazing reviews.

I am very sensitive and did not get sick! I had the mango y chile tequila, la sopa de zanahorias, and los taquitos de requesón. The waiter told me that everything marked gf is prepared separately. The food was super good too.

I came to this restaurant based on the reviews on this app. The waiter and chef were very knowledgeable and attentive to my cross contamination needs. I’m very sensitive to even the tiniest crumb that I don’t see. I had a shrimp salad and didn’t get sick. I am happy to add another place to my limited options of restaurants.

I asked my server to mark gluten free on my order after mentioning I am celiac. I noticed he didn’t when he placed the order on the computer. When my food came out I asked the waiter to double check that it’s gluten free. He said no, after checking with the chef. He said the chef said many of the items marked gluten free aren’t in-fact gluten free as they share a fryer. I had to reorder 3 times to get something for sure gluten free. Tbh.. now I’m nervous to eat here.. will update after eating to see how it goes. I wouldn’t say this place deserves the high rating I currently has with that feedback from the chef.

GF options clearly marked on the menu and I don’t doubt that they are taken seriously but… after I told the waiter I had a gluten allergy, he proceeded to tell me everything marked GF was safe and then also told me that the chips and the chicken tacos were gluten free but they weren’t marked on the menu as such. I couldn’t get a clear explanation as to why they weren’t marked.
Will update later.

My daughter has celiac and VERY sensitive-even touching gluten causes a reaction--I was so impressed by the extra care taken to avoid cross contamination! Its not "dedicated gluten free" but this is the next best thing. Im extremely protective of my daughter as hate seeing her glutened but I would let her eat here again👍💜

Wonderful, wonderful food and great service! There are quite a few marked GF items in the menu. I had the Enchiladas Verdes and they were to die for! I highly recommend this place, but recommend making a reservation. We had to beg to sit at the bar to eat. lol

There are many GF options on the menu. We have eaten here several times and never had any cross contamination isssues. The first time we were, there, I ordered an appetizer marked GF. When it arrived, I realized I had forgotten to ask all the questions to make sure it was safe The manager happened to hear me ask and told me they take precautions woth all GF meals and I was safe. The chips are great as is everything else I've had there. To top it all off, their patio dining is pet friendly. I love this place!

Only a few GF options listed on the menu, but they are great and really good margaritas ;-)
Very limited menu for a Mexican restaurant. Not great enough to come back.
The service was great and the food was delicious. Big portions so we ordered and ate family style. The unique margaritas were awesome too!
I originally wanted to go to this joint because my girlfriend had gone before multiple times and had an amazing safe meal. I have celiac disease, and I only attend places that have gluten-free on the menu and have been visited by sensitive friends. If they get sick, I'm not going, but I heard it was really great! So I was excited. That was, until I sat down.
So, like always, we sat down, and when the server came, we told him that we had specialty diets. He made this contorted face like "eh, yuck"and we said to reassure him "It's just gluten free and dairy free, we just wanted to tell you, so you could let the chefs know." He seemed confused, and pointed out to us that the gluten-free items were clearly marked on the menu (Obviously). He then went away and the three of us just starred at each other wondering what just happened. We've all been through this before, where the waiter just had a misunderstanding on what we were asking. So we gave him another chance.
We then asked why the tacos (the easiest thing to make GF) weren't marked gluten-free when other things were that had similar ingredients. He battled with another person in our group saying that it was the sauce in the meat. Now, head scratch here, it's the same meat in the other dishes marked gluten free. He then went on to say that it was "just a little sprinkle" of the seasoning. At this point, the look of confusion was more like terror.
Another person stopped by, maybe a server, and we begged to speak to the manager again, since it had been a few minutes. The first arrogant waiter stopped by again and said, "I heard you want to talk to the manager, but I know the menu from the top to the bottom." You could tell that he was arrogant and thought he knew it all. I told him that we had to talk to a manager because we don't want to get sick. He said "well, you know it's not really our fault if you get sick."Now, I understand why restaurants have the legal clause that it is not a gluten-free kitchen even though they prepare gluten-free food, but it's not an excuse for you to not do your job! Especially if you advertise gluten-free food. The level of smugness from this guy was dripping.
He came back out and told us that the manager was in a meeting and that we couldn't meet with him. We told him were were leaving and I asked for a bill. He said that we didn't have to pay and he understood why we had to leave.
I had never dealt with that level of rudeness, smugness from a server before. All you had to do was send over a manager. In fact, when we left, one of our party ran into her old server and he had no problem serving us gluten-free safely. But at that point, my blood was boiling and I was out the door.
So, thank you, ONE SERVER for wasting our time, energy, and emotions. I understand how to navigate a restaurant gluten-free to stay safe - but do you? You would have gotten a great tip from all of us. We would have been great people in your section. But instead, you let your arrogance stand in the way and managed to turn me off from your restaurant. One that is rated in Find Me Gluten Free. One that is recommended by celiacs. Absurd.
Did not get glutened here, but was underwhelmed by the food. GF options were marked on the menu, but there were very few and they were all seafood and salads. Waiter seemed clueless about celiac. Quality and taste was not equal to the many great Mexican places in town. It's a cute atmosphere, but I won't be back.
I ate chips & salsa, sprite and the garlic prawns dish.
I asked all the questions, dedicated fryer, etc and was given the right answers but ended up getting glutened!!
No
I was so excited to find a Mexican restaurant with gluten free options! They have gluten-free items clearly labeled on the menu and the servers seem to be educated on it. However, I wish I had asked more questions before trusting Mayahuel completely. I ordered the chips and guacamole and a bowl of their (delicious!) poblano soup. I should have been thorough in checking to ensure the chips are made in a dedicated fryer. The soup came with what I thought was a corn tortilla strip as garnish, but when I took a bite it tasted more like a flour strip? I'm not exactly sure, but a day later I am having a symptom flare-up, which I have not had since going strict gluten free. I may try Mayahuel again, because having a place to go out with friends to (without getting sick) is so important to me, but next time I will need to be much more thorough and ask plenty more questions. If I do, I will update with another review. The food was amazing! If you are not a Celiac and eat gluten-free for other reasons, I definitely recommend this place!
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Mayahuel. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, the menu was labeled clearly, and the food was terrific. The only entrees labeled gluten-free were sea food dishes, but this was offset by a range of gluten-free appetizers, salads, and stews. I'm also dairy-free, and the kitchen modified one of the gf dishes to suit my needs.
Ambiance was urban without being uncomfortably 'upscale' or 'hip.' Will return.

Excellent......Food, atmosphere and service!
This was my second visit to this wonderful establishment, both times have been amazing. The first time was brunch and I enjoyed every moment and bite.
The second visit was dinner and was better than the first which was hard to believe. The Totopos con Chile was great as was the Ensalada Tropical and thankfully I got to try the Pozole Verde con Pollo.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, but especially to those looking to eat Gluten Free.
The service was great. Really cool place to go eat. It is definitely full of suites during the day.
The menu was fantastic! The majority of the menu is Gluten Free. My only problem came from the soup the give you as soon as you sit down. There was no ordering of it and when I asked a passing waiter if it was gluten free he said yes, but with no confidence. I didn't eat it. But the rest of the food was delicious! Definitely want to go back again some day!
