Terrible! They had no menu. Told us they had cards unfortunately they are on order. Manager never came over. We had to walk out. The manager should know about their items. Will never go to another Red Robin!
Love their burgers with a lettuce wrap!
Very good atmosphere and helpful staff. I had a pretty knowledgable server, but for anything she didn't know about, she deferred to her manager. Awesome food, and if the staff doesn't know, you can look it up online. They even have a frier that's DEDICATED TO FRIES! Nothing else is fried in it ever to help with allergies (thank God!)
they don't even have a printed menu at the place. Terrible knowledge of gluten free food
Red Robin Northwoods is great, especially if I want to take my rowdy kids. Service is very quick, and they always are careful about the gluten. Our servers have always been quite aware of the importance of keeping things gluten free and can do a gluten free bun or a lettuce wrap. They DO fry batches of gluten free french fries separately. Never had any problems with reactions.
Three stars for a gluten-free bun, but the staff awareness was abysmal. First the host gave me the Gluten-Free Menu which was enormous! Turns out it was just the take out menu. A simple mistake, which would not warrant mention if not for the other problems. There is not a dedicated frier, so ALL the fries are possibly contaminated. The server AND the manager both thought the fries would be safe without Sea Salt. (?) I wanted to order a salad and had questions about that, but the manager cautioned the safety because of strawberries. The server finally admitted she had no idea what gluten is.
Family-friendly!! My fourth time back to have their scrumptious hamburgers on Gluten-free buns!
Red Robin has a gluten free menu and even has a bun that you can eat your burger on, but they make it very difficult to order. The wait staff is not trained. While they have a gluten free menu, there is not a printed version. you have to go online and wade through the checklists of what is effectively a really long slideshow just to see an option, only to have to do it again again to see if you can eat anything else. It is very difficult and tedious, bit to mention disheartening when the wait staff aren't even aware that such a menu exists. if you can get past that, it is nice to be able to eat French fries and a burger with a bun. the bun is okay, not great, but it's still nice just to have a bun. I didn't get sick eating here...just wish I didn't have to convince the people working there what their secret menu contains.
They would get 5 stars except that their beef is not good enough to get top marks. The GF buns are absolutely great. Red Robin's will even sell their buns separately. Bottomless frech fries are marvelous, just marvelous. They will even cook you a batch without salt (in case you are watching your sodium intake). Heinz mustard available on request.
50-50 chance of getting sick here. Love the food, fries are always delicious- but the stomach issues start before I even get out of the restaurant about half the time. I guess I keep going back because I like the illusion of it being truly gluten free. Or maybe I'm just a gambler.
The food took forever- waited over 45 minutes for a lettuce burger. Offered bottomless coleslaw, requested more, and then never received it. Seemed that there really wasn't enough staff to accommodate a normal dinner crowd. The explanation (upon delivery of the food) for the long wait was that the chef put my burger on a roll and the meal had to be redone. That explained why my wife's meal. Was cold :-(
Great experience with their fancy schmancy iPad like devices they use for an allergen menu. It was nice to eat like a normal person.
In 2013 and 2014 I had great service and I was there enough that some of the staff already knew what I needed. Gluten free items and meals were right on and never got sick. Currently in 2015 I have to check when you get them because sometimes there's a mix of gf and not gf. Ie.... Cooked chicken in wrong sauce or wrong but on order to go, but over all very good restraunt and gf friendly. Just keep your eyes open and double check.
First time to Red Robin and it was overall a very good experience! I had a little trouble ordering but the manager, Gary, came over and got things straightened out! His son is gf and Gary knew exactly what I could or could not have. He was very attentive but not overly so. The gf buns are really good! Gary said I could buy some buns to take home anytime I want. Best part is I did not get glutened!
The best Gluten free burger my son ever had. The bun was amazing. The restaurant is very accomodating on making gluten free dishes and they have an IPad were kids can play with and choose their gluten free meal.
Food is stellar with lots of options. Dedicated fryers mean bottomless fries! EDIT 2/19/15: I have to take two stars off, however. Yes, the food is great and yes, there are a lot (*A LOT*) of options. However, be sure your server absolutely knows what your order is when you order it. Every time I have been to this location since I left my previous review in July 2014, they've gotten my order wrong. While I was never in a situation of being served a gluten-containing item instead of the gluten-free version, you really have to be careful.
Food was excellent. Their gluten free bun was so moist, I almost thought it couldn't be gluten free. Their fries and signature blend season are gluten free as well. I wasn't crazy about the GF menu being online and having to look it up on my phone, but overall it's a good eat.
I have eaten here twice without getting sick. However, last time I went I specifically ordered a GF burger but it came out on a regular bun. Luckily, I knew what the GF bun looked like and told our waitress. She was helpful and took it away. They cooked a completely new burger that was delicious. I did not get sick. Fries came out without the seasoning (if you order GF this is standard).
So many things wrong but i will say the main entrees were very good. Drinks were beyond bad, they were atrocious. There was no carbination in the soda. Both my wife's and my drinks were flat. My wife then changed her drink and they got it wrong. They don't have a printed gluten free menu. instead, they hand you an iPad which has allergy information but you need to refer back to the main menu to understand what you're really getting. It's very annoying. Also, some of the menu items that were on the Apple iPad are no longer available, making it further confusing. Red Robin needs to rethink how they handle their gluten free alternatives. I would be embarrassed if I were them.
I've been there 4 - 5 times since I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. The first time, I had a reaction afterwards. I went back again and was fine, so I've been back several more times, all with good experiences. Just be sure to tell your server when you order that you need GF. All the ones I've had seemed pretty knowledgeable on the company policies and procedures for handling GF food. They said they have a separate fryer for the GF fries. They also said that their fry seasonings are GF (maybe they weren't in the past?).
I worked at a Red Robin as a server, and I know that they take precautions against cross contamination, and they also have a dedicated GF fryer. My husband has celiac and is VERY susceptible to being glutened. We have eaten here many times, and haven't had a problem. They also have many more options for GF, and offer GF buns which many places do not. I also know that our local Celiac group meets at Red Robin for some of their meetings, so I would say this place is a pretty good bet for most Celiacs, at least the one where I live.
Awesome buns!!! Gluten free menu is full of options. My order took a little longer but it was only to insure my safety from cross contamination! Very friendly staff and the manager checked in regularly to make sure I was happy and let me know what was safe and almost safe depending on how sensitive I was etc. awesome experience!! And did in mention the buns!!! Best I've had!
They have a designated gf menu with quite a few options. I ordered the chicken bruschetta sandwich with a gf bun. It was delicious. The bun was soft and did not have that "gluten free" taste at all. Being able to have their fries was a big bonus. I left there very happy and will definitely go back often.
The bun was really good. Fries are now made all gluten free. Plus, they put your food in a special basket so they can keep gluten items away. They do not have a separate hard copy menu. I had to pull it from their website. Their items under the nutrition and allergy section does not provide detail of the food. I needed to find it on their menu to see what all it consisted of.
Yum! I ordered a burger with a gluten free bun. YAY! I also ordered a strawberry limeade and it was amazing! Be careful with seasonings and fries- they are contaminated. I recommend!
I went and had the grilled chicken with a GF bun and the bun was absolutely amazing but I would not recommend the grilled chicken.
Great options for glutenfree hamburgers my go too place
Left without eating here today. The hostess was irritated to have customers and the server cut me short when I tried to clarify the prep for my gluten-free order. I felt very anxious about my food after the weird, disinterested service so decided not worth the risk. Won't be back to this location.
The buns are okay and the fries have never made me sick, but you're better off making a burger at home. The food just isn't very good unless you like greasy gut bombs.
I am lactose/gluten intolerant and I had the worse reaction last night. I had the grilled turkey burger, gluten free bun minus the sauce and added the honey bbq sauce. Everything was suppose to be safe according to their allergy menu. I even had the gluten free french fries. With in 2 hours I had the worse gas pains. This morning I am trapped in the smallest room in my house! I have had the same thing at the Newark location with no problems. 😞
Dedicated fryer and unlimited fries
Food is good , if they get it right. Make sure you watch everything that is brought to your table. I have gotten a regular bun more times then I can count .. But then I get my meal for free... So it works for me.
Found a deliberately placed fried onion on my burger. Definitely not there by accident. Told the staff about it, and they took care of it and were super nice about it, but told me that it was the second time that it has happened today. I always have some sort of issue when I come here, and now I know why. The cook staff need to be fired. BE CAREFUL FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH CELIAC. This only fuels my distrust for going to any restaurants.
I work (and live) right down the street from this Red Robin. I don't know why I keep going back. It has always seemed to be hit or miss with gluten exposure-but this time-I am REALLY sick. I just don't think they get (or care) what it means for a Celiac to be exposed to cross contamination. I am done. It's too bad they just can't seem to get it right💀
Ate here multiple times no problem. They have a dedicated fry fryer so no cross contamination. Or so I was told. Today after eating a basket of fries, we found onion ring crumbles at the bottom of the basket. Not going back. I let the manager know that it was very frustrating. Not acceptable in my opinion.
