Everything is gluten free except the bread. Got the chopped brisket potato with bbq sauce and it’s soooo good

After checking several different little places in the airport we decided on this place. All the other restaurants acted like you could get some things but were not knowledgeable at all. I appreciated the previous review that mentioned to make sure they do not put the bread on top. Even though the staff said everything is gluten free including the sauces they can’t tell from looking at you that you need gluten free so of course it’s good to mention that. We ordered one plate with three proteins and it was enough for two of us.

TELL THEM YOU NEED IT TO BE GF. I saw the glowing reviews here and didn't think it necessary to mention it for a menu item that appeared to be GF. But, lo and behold, it comes with a giant slab of bread on top! This was not mentioned on the menu ("brisket plate: served with homestyle potato salad, country coleslaw, and beans with brisket"). Thankfully, I saw her put the bread on and they were able to re-make my meal after I died of embarrassment and apologies profusely.

Staff knew immediately what items were gluten free, and marked a glove change and gluten allergy on the receipt without me even having to ask.

When you’re out in wine country this is the place to stop after being at one of the close by driftwood vineyards (or it is definitely worth the trip out there). I did the all you can eat plate and tried a variety of meat. I ate until I couldn’t anymore. Talk to the servers and they are pretty knowledgeable about gluten. Also, be prepared to wait to be sat because it does get really busy on the weekends.

Staff made it easy to order and understood my allergies. Food was prepped in the back so that cross contamination from the normal line would not be a factor.

Excellent for celiacs. Reassuring. Changed gloves. Knowledgable. After security at the airport btw gates 20 and 21. Uploaded a pic of menu, which doesn't list GF options, but almost everything is GF - see also the screenshot of their allergy info from website.

Yummy! Careful about cross contamination if you let them know about your allergy. Nice option at the airport.

So happy with this place. Everything is gluten free expect the bread, and if you tell them you have an allergy/celiac they will make it from the back to avoid cc. Highly recommended -- I felt very comfortable here, which is rare when traveling.

I ate at the Salt Lick in the Austin airport based on previous reviews. If you identify your need for GF, they will prepare your order in the kitchen on a different cutting board with a clean knife to avoid cross contamination from cutting bread at the serving station next to the cashier. The BBQ sauce is GF along with the meats.

My sister and I stopped at a layover as BBQ is usually fairly safe for me. They made my order in the back. I tend to be quite sensitive to CC and did not get sick. We enjoyed our food immensely. We had the 2 meat platter (brisket and pork). The beans were a bit spicy for us but we enjoyed the potato salad and coleslaw. I picked up a thing of BBQ sauce to take home.

Sadly tested this place (Briskit, pork, beans, coleslaw, potato salad) with my Nima Sensor and even despite a very careful staff, gluten was found so had to pass it off to my non celiac friends. Not sure if it was in the rubs or cross contaminated somewhere by the bread nearby. May be okay for non celiac GF folks.
I had eggs and brisket on a plate. Was sick within 20 minutes.

Dude who rang me up was the sweetest guy ever! Food was amazing. The brisket was heavenly. I found the pork a little too spicy for my taste, but then again I’m just a pansy from up north. Come here for sure

Lots of breakfast options. Just get burrito with no shell.
5 stars for how well they handle GF requests- did exactly what the other reviewers mentioned. Food itself was probably a 3-4 star quality as far as bbq is concerned, but it was still awesome to get in some bbq at the airport before leaving Texas.

Manager cut a fresh brisket on a new cutting board with new gloves. They can't make guarantees but was very knowledgeable. If I get sick I will update this. Obviously not the same as eating in driftwood but seemed like best option in Abia.
I ate pork barbecue, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and their sauce AND I did not get sick. Airports are always tricky and this food did not make me feel terrible. The beans were the best part though, by far.
Good food and good service. They cleaned everything and brought out fresh meat. it's been at least 2 hours and I'm feeling fine. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Austin.
Traveling is so difficult and it's so nice to find a place that has gf food. They said everything on the platters is GF - sides included. The assistant manager happened to take my order and said he would change the cutting board and clean the prep area for me.
They changed EVERYTHING! Even brought out a new slab of brisket to make sure there was no cross contamination. Awesome 🙌

They were so helpful at the Austin airport Salt Lick. They were very helpful - careful to change gloves, clean knives and keep things away from the bread since it was close by. The whole staff behind the counter was totally on top of it! Tasty too!
I walked up to Salt Lick with the intention to grab a quick dinner before my flight. I know their menu in their Round Rock location is all gluten free minus the bread. I asked the cashier at the airport location to leave the bread off of my 2 meat plate. She immediately asked me if I was gluten sensitive or allergic. I told her that I was. She explained that the prep area in the airport location is near the bread. She instructed the man preparing the food to be careful with my allergy. He changed the cutting board, his gloves, and his knife before preparing my plate.
