Vimala’s food is delicious and she cares about GF. A restaurant where a GF person can feel normal. The GF options are plentiful and best in class!

I wasn't a bit hesitant to eat anything because it was order on your phone. When we were able to connect with the servers, I felt a bit better. The food was absolutely amazing!!! The dosa was delicious and filling! I also did not get sick in the slightest. I HIGHLY recommend going if you have celiac. They took my allergies seriously (but, you will have to flag down the servers!).

Decent food but nothing spectacular, and for the prices I didn’t expect to place my order at a counter and get a number but ok. The music was too loud for conversation. Probably better in summer when you can sit outside. GF cardamom brownie tho.
Great attention to detail, even when crowded. I've never gotten sick eating here.
Update 10/28/2018 Cashier told me that the oil is gluten contaminated, ruling out things like pakoras and papadums. I had tandoori chicken and it and the dal tested GF on the Nima Sensor.
I’m always happy after eating at Vimala’s. The menu is clearly marked and all of the entrees are gluten free. It’s great food and the staff and Vimala are very helpful.

Not sure why but I get sick when I eat here, sorry.
There's a good reason why Vimala's is so beloved in Chapel Hill, and that reason is Vimala herself. When we told her we had Celiac disease, she immediately told her staff, who began to clean the grill and prep surfaces. She then went through the menu with us to show which items were guten free (most of them) and suggested a fermented pancake in place bread. She brought everything out family style, and assured us again that everything on the table was gluten free. The service was incredibly fast, and the food was absolutely delicious. There is no reason to miss gluten when you eat at Vimala's.

We had lavender lemonades, idlis, pork vindaloo, tandoori chicken and masala cheese dosas and everything was EXCELLENT. Exceptionally clear on what is safe and not.

Whole menu is GF except breads. They were knowledgable about celiac and I had a delicious eggplant dish with brown rice and don't get glutened. Food is prepared in a different kitchen from breads.

Great Indian food that just happens to be mostly gluten-free . Plenty of menu items are clearly marked GF for your convenience. With reasonable prices and large portion sizes this is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area.

Love it here! Such a great place to eat with more than enough gf friendly options. Skip the breads and fried goodies and you'll still find tons of incredible dishes.
Great selection, food was pretty decent.
I have celiac disease and used this app to locate a restaurant that accommodates my diet. I love Indian food and rarely get to enjoy it out at a restaurant. Vimala's was exceptional. Everyone that worked here was very aware of celiac disease. The food was amazing! I even got to meet Vimala herself! She was actively cooking in the kitchen! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area!!

Uttapam and dips. Wonderful. Lots of nice fried things the kids liked (chickpea batter).
Delicious. GF labeled on the menu. Next time we will ask for them to up the spiciness a bit.
We had a wonderful dinner at Vimala's when in Chapel Hill. A great, friendly environment . . . and the food is delicious. The Gluten Free options are clearly marked and everyone is well versed in GF. Great GF desserts are a treat!
I love eating here. Lots of interesting, tasty GF options that are clearly labeled. Be sure to get a GF cardamom brownie for dessert!
So many wonderful options.
This is my favorite restaurant in the Chapel Hill area. My kids love it too! The staff is super friendly. Gluten-free and Vegan items are clearly marked on menu. Food is delicious (I love Indian food). It is not fast here, but they do prepare everything fresh on site. They use as many local ingredients as possible. Food is excellent. Yum!
Vimala's is amazing - my favorite lunch spot in Chapel Hill. Fantastic food, and the employees are paid living wages. Nobody is turned away for inability to pay. Lots of GF items and many vegetarian and vegan as well.
