Extensive gf list if you ask. Very easy to read! I noticed that gf, breaded chicken nuggets were advertised, but I already ordered. Next time...
Lots of GREAT options for GF! GF bread available as well as GF chicken nuggets for kids! Some staff members, not all, are Gluten certified.I didn't even have to ask them to change gloves. It was noted on the receipt and employee did it automatically. This was our second visit here in 2 weeks. I am sure we will be back next week again.
I have a family of 7, 5 of which are on the GF diet for health reasons (not celiac), but when we mentioned GF, they did there best to avoid contamination. It was quite crowded (lunch time on a Sunday) and I'd recommend coming at a less busy time to really avoid cross-contamination. My oldest son and mom really enjoyed the gluten-free bread and my daughter loved the GF chicken nuggets (cornmeal). My other son had a humungous potato (he ate about half of it). I really liked the salad bar (one of my only options as I'm on a extremely restricted diet). It also has wonderful prices, which for a family of 7 we tend to spend upwards of $70 and this was about $55 which was great! Can't wait to go back.
Excellent service! We stop by regularly and they are always willing to have a manager make mine if I ask. DO NOT have them toast as mentioned above because as we have been informed they do not have a separate toaster. Celiac approved!!!! Happy dining!!
So sad! Jason's has been one of my go to places. According to a sign on the door, they closed March 11, 2014.
The first time I went here I had no problems but the second time they brought out my GF sandwich wrapped and stamped with the "GF" sticker like they normally do but the sandwich was made on a croissant NOT the GF bread. I thought since it was wrapped, stamped and shown on my receipt as GF that it was safe but as I soon discovered two-bites in, it definitely was NOT GF! The manager was very apologetic but didn't even offer me a refund. I made sure he understood the implications of a mix-up like this for fellow celiacs. Luckily my reaction is not extreme enough to require any immediate medical intervention, it just makes me horribly sick to my stomach, but for my fellow celiacs with more extreme reactions BEWARE and check twice when eating here.
Some regular menu sandwiches can be made using the gluten free bread although not listed on the gluten free menu.
Had a sandwich on GF bread and it was yummy! They also have a very nice salad bar with plenty of GF options! My sandwich came wrapped with a sticker on it so everyone knew thru the whole kitchen that it was an allergy sandwich being prepared
friendly, knowledgeable staff. its my go to restaurant for gf eating.
they have a separate area where they make all gluten free sandwiches. even took the precaution of wrapping my sandwich. I read their ice cream is GF. only hesitancy I have is the cones can easily touch the dispenser.
Good job with GF and great bread with many menu options. I have had Jason's Deli in multiple states and never a reaction.
Love the tortilla soup and chicken salad sandwich on GF bread!
While these guys admit they can't do a totally gf environment (I mean, it is a sandwich joint!) they do an excellent job of minimizing risk in the environment as best they can. They change gloves, use packaged chips instead of the same ones the gluten people get, and they try to minimize how much contact your sandwich gets at the counter. If you call or visit you can get additional options for your sandwich beyond what's on the gf menu on their website - I am fond of their salami sandwich and the California Club.
My go to "fast food" restaurant!!
They cross contaminate!
This place advertises itself to be GF, but as soon as you talk to the manager, he looks uncomfortable and admits they are not good enough for somebody with Celiac. It's just for those on a fad GF diet. That's what the manager said to my face while I pointed at the GF sign.
I ordered a salad, playing it safe, but even at Jason's a salad isn't. The staff were seemingly very concerned about my condition but upon opening my take out I saw that not only were there croutons in the salad but also two chunks of bread. After calling to tell them, they offered to make another, also which had croutons upon delivery.
Update: We came back to Jason's for lunch today. Gluten free food was prepared and delivered by a manager- the same person from start to finish. He stayed by us while we checked the order for accuracy. Item was clearly marked with gluten free sticker and brought in to go container to mark it as specialty. Bread is Udi's brand- which we like better than any other commercial bread. Gluten free menu is present in restaurant. Order was correct, food high quality with great taste. We will go back and continue to look for the process improvements offered by Brad. Update: I just got off the phone with the supervisor there: Brad. He's the one who answers to corporate Jason's Deli. I explained to him all my concerns and issues with our service. He has addressed issues and temporarily has only managers handling gluten free orders in an effort to provide safety to us until he is positive that his staff understands why it is such a concern. I have agreed to give them one more chance- and I will update again once we go in. Original review: Jason's has a specialized space including case with knives/prep area. The food tastes great but they don't check orders or know why gluten is such a big deal. A great menu but miscommunication and lack of common customer service reign high here. We've had more than 5 experiences there and 90% of the time there's something wrong with the gluten free order. We've received regular bread when buying gluten free. Management doesn't care about what they are doing or the importance of their area. It's a shame this location is such a disaster, because generally Jason's is great. Just go elsewhere!
Megfroggy is right. I 2nd her review. You can eat a sandwich with bread gluten free. Their menu makes it easy to figure out what's thumbs up vs what's thumbs down. They have a dedicated GF prep area and panini press. Update: I just took away a star since they no longer have a dedicated GF panini press. Also the restaurant is huge which makes it feel a but like a fancy cafeteria. It's still a decent sandwich spot.
Great selection of GF items. Need more GF soups. Two GF soups from other locations not available here. They have improved cross contamination issues and I have never had a problem here. I am not Celiac or super-sensitive though. The menu disclaimer is standard legal boilerplate. They really are eager to help and I eat here often.
Jason's offers a gluten sensitivity menu and asked whether gluten-free was an allergy or preference for me. They have gluten free bread and a salad bad. Seems suitable for those with sensitivity but would probably go elsewhere if you need to avoid all gluten. Jason's put a label on my order that said as much.
