This place was amazing. They have gf menu but my husband had regular menu and they were almost identical. My husband had the gf fried haddock sandwich and I had crab crusted haddock with Mac and cheese. Everything tasted great. Lots of appetizers, main menu food and a chocolate cake that I got to go because I was to full but looks wonderful.

I've eaten here several times and have never gotten sick. They are knowledgeable and always happy to accommodate my diet. The gluten-free menu is extensive. I love their burgers and how their buns don't get mushy or fall apart like so many others do. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that offers a gluten-free bread service (although it is an extra cost) - the focaccia is delicious. Usually I don't have room for dessert, but I did try the cheesecake one time and it was amazing, creamy and decadent. I wish I lived in town so I could go here all the time.

If you have never been here YOU HAVE TO GO!! There is a whole gluten free menu and they are very very cautious with allergies. There are so many options and they are constantly changing up the menu. This is one of the only places I feel 110% confident in eating at because the staff takes allergies so important.

There were so many items we wanted to try on the GF menu! We had the Firecracker Shrimp, which was just delicious and came with a very tasty cucumber salad. The Maxx burger was unbelievably good, and the fried fish sandwich and sweet potato fries were very good. The GF buns on both sandwiches were so soft and delicious, they had the taste and texture of a real gluten bun. So amazing. We also tried the chocolate cake, which was a nice treat. We wish we had a Burton’s closer to where we live, because it was so good and there were many GF items we just couldn’t try this time!

Chose this restaurant based on reviews here, but definitely ended up with cross contamination symptoms after eating the Harvest Bowl minus goat cheese. The hostess made a big deal over offering a gf menu, the waiter’s first question to the table was about food sensitivities, and yet. He seemed pretty flippant when I asked again for assurance my meal was gluten free when it was served. A person at the table who said she was gluten sensitive said she had no problem, but I cannot recommend for those with Celiac.

I had the Mediterranean chicken risotto, which was naturally gluten-free. It was good. The quality of the chicken was very nice. It was tender, and there was lots of it. I had the seven layer chocolate cake which was very good. My husband had the southwest chicken salad, which was very good. I wouldn’t say the risotto and cake were amazing but it sure is nice to have a decent gluten-free option. As other reviewers said, our waiter said they have a separate fryer for gluten-free items.

We were visiting and looking for a restaurant who had gluten free safe options for dinner. What a find!! The meal was wonderful! I actually got to have deep fried fish that was celiac safe! This is my favorite restaurant to go to when visiting South Carolina. Not only is it owned by someone with celiac, but the staff must pass an exam on allergens/intolerances to be able to take orders and then pass a second exam to be able to serve the food. They offer a gluten free menu with a wide variety of options and also serve gluten free food on a square dish to avoid confusion.

Despite being celiac with oat, tomato, lactose, and sulfite intolerances, I have yet to react to anything on the menu. The food is great, the staff are friendly and understanding, and I wish there were more restaurants as safe as this one.

Was asked up front by the hostess if we were gluten free. The gluten free menu is big compared to other places we have tried. The starter bread was amazing and my wife enjoyed the house salad. We both had burgers for our mains, and they were good, but not amazing. I had Parmesan truffle fries for my side that were also only ok. The cheesecake for dessert though was very good.

Amazing experience. I have felt so limited in going out to eat. Then when I attempt to go out I’m always worrying. Most of the times I end up getting sick even after speaking to server and manager about celiacs cross contamination. Or I pass on food if they seem unknowledgeable and watch my friends eat. So to be able to go in sit down and be given kindness and accommodations felt really relieving. They have an entire separate color coded menu. The gluten free food comes out of different shaped plates. A designated Gluten free food runner is the only person who can delivery gluten free food to the table. I felt safe and relaxed for the first time in a long time at a restaurant. The food was very tasty and our server very nice. Overall great experience and will be coming back. I am from the northeast and their aren’t many restaurant options and once that do have GF are all not celiac safe. Plus the workers tend to be irritated by my questions and concerns.

This restaurant is such a safe haven for GF. Upon entering they ask each group if they need a GF menu which immediately set the tone. Great casual choice with a wide variety! Our waiter was great and explained that they do things differently than other restaurants. They have a separate space for non GF food prep..meaning you can order most things! I had a fried fish sandwich and fries. So good! Kids also enjoyed their non-GF food. The waiter was amazing! He asked every question and answered every question that needed to be. But unfortunately, my daughter was glutened. We actually went to Charleston and stated a hotel within 2 miles of Burton's because that was going to be our vacation! She never gets to eat out we figured it was close to the beach and close to a great place to eat, Burtons! Unfortunately, the first day we got into town we went there for lunch, and she was sick within 40 minutes. She was unable to enjoy the rest of the afternoon the evening or the next day until after 2:00 p.m. she was in bed. The waiter was amazing! He did ask every question, and he reassured us time and time again that everything was going to be okay. But the hard facts are she got sick. I love the idea of being able to go somewhere with her to eat out but we have come to the conclusion that everything needs to come from our own kitchen. She ordered the cheeseburger without the bun, french fries, and they made a special dessert for her with ice cream chocolate fudge and Heath bars.

This is the first place I’ve ever walked in that said “will anyone in your party need a gluten free menu?” 🤩 They have a separate GF menu, but it’s almost exactly the same as the main one—just GF! Burgers, pasta, fries, mac & cheese, dessert, you name it, they have it GF! The servers are extremely knowledgeable and told us there would be no cross contamination & the manager on duty would deliver the food to us on a separate shaped plate. 50% sure I got glutened… had the gf bread service, the shrimp & lobster pasta, and a soda. Took a digestive aid and Benadryl and either I took it fast enough or I wasn’t glutened. Who knows? It sucks because they made me feel relatively safe as wait staff was knowledgeable and both waiter and hosts asked up front— without prompting— if I wanted a gluten free menu and if it was allergy or not. There is a possibility this could be a reaction from earlier in the day as I’ve been eating out b/c I’m on vacation. Hard telling. That being said— the bread service was incredible. Pasta was just ok. Will say that they don’t skimp on the seafood in the pasta, which is good for the $38 price tag.

Oh my, this place is SO good!!! Very knowledgeable with a separate gluten free menu that offers SO many selections! My son was diagnosed with celiac disease 10 years ago. He said his meal here, is hands down, the best meal at a restaurant he’s ever had. You won’t regret coming here!

Wow! This restaurant did not disappoint! Great gluten free menu. Dedicated fryer, separate servers brought my meal on a square plate (it means gluten free). I was amazed at the variety of selections. We had the hot artichoke dip appetizer, crab topped haddock dinner and the crème brûlée. I’m a very sensitive celiac, will be very sick within 2-3 hrs. It’s been 6, feeling great! Definitely go to this restaurant!!

I’ve written reviews for this place several times, but I feel there’s an updated one needed as the last time I reviewed it was my first time visiting.

My fav menu items: General tso bowl General tso cauliflower Chilled cucumber salad Signature wings

The dishes come marked as GF, not by a flag but by the shape of the plates they use. (Square for gf, round for not) and almost ever single item can be made GF if it’s not already (I believe everything can be made gf) it’s also great for dairy free! All the serves are nice and understanding. It’s my favorite place. I drive 2 hours each way to eat here almost every weekend.

I was blown away. Not only by the separate GF menu but their process as a whole. Dedicated prep space, fryers, grill - all of it. They even put your food on different dishes and run them separately to avoid confusion. They took such good care of my Gluten and Nightshade allergies, and the staff didn’t make me feel weird for all my questions and needing to be reassured that it IS GF. I left, having over eaten of course - it was delicious, and no trace of bloating, cramping, or worse. Loved this place and will definitely go back.

Absolutely wonderful experience! Our server was Brittany and she was so friendly and knowledgeable. I had the focaccia bread appetizer and chicken cordon bleu. They were awesome! I have never seen a gluten free menu that was so extensive. We actually had a gf menu and had the hostess bring us another because we thought it was a typo.

There a few options around Isle of Palms and .Charleston that understand Celiac precautions and offer many choices we, Burton’s does both. I know it is a chain, but we ate here twice on our trip and both were great. My daughter had many options and did not have any issues.

Eating here was wonderful, and I am so sad we don’t live closer to a Burton’s. The menu is extensive, their allergy procedures are on point, and they encourage you to customize. One of my kids has extensive, complicated food allergies and they were very willing to work with her to make sure she had a meal she enjoyed. I had the fish sandwich which was so good it almost made me cry. (I added avocado which I recommend.) I got the tartar sauce on the side because I have a lifelong aversion to tartar sauce but it was SO GOOD that it won me over. We also had the focaccia which was outstanding. After we declined dessert, our fabulous server recommended a gelato place to us that had options that were safe for my kid with allergies (beardcats) … can’t thank Burtons enough for this wonderful meal. We will be back!

So refreshing to have a large GF menu and know it is safe. The owner of the restaurant has Celiac so the servers were very educated on it. We had the focaccia appetizer and it was delicious. My daughter loves bread so this was a treat. The waitress immediately noticed my daughter had the GF menu and explained how they handled and prepared all the GF menu items separately. All of us loved our meals off of both the regular and GF menus.

Great service and very knowledgeable about celiac. We were offered a gluten free menu by the hostess before we had even mentioned our 13yo daughter has celiac. Gluten free foods are served on square plates and the food was even brought out separately by different waiters to prevent cross-contamination. Our daughter ordered fried chicken tenders and truffle fries and it was delicious. Felt very comfortable eating here!

I am blown away by my experience here! The hostess asked if anyone needed a GF menu before we were even seated. There was a blurb on the menu about how seriously they take accommodating dietary restrictions. My food was delivered to the table separately by gloved hand with confirmation that it was gluten free. Celiac can be so isolating sometimes, especially in restaurants, but Burtons gave me a sense of normalcy and inclusivity. Great job Burtons!

Burtons has a dedicated GF menu with lots of choices. My son ordered the burger and fries and he said it was delicious, especially the bun. Also, the server brought his food out first, then our food was brought out separately. Service was great. We will be back.
