The food was good but not great. The service was soooooo slow. We had to wait about 30 minutes after finishing our meal for the GF donuts, the order for which we placed as soon as we sat down. Not sure we'll come back.

I am blown away by my experience here! The hostess asked if anyone needed a GF menu before we were even seated. There was a blurb on the menu about how seriously they take accommodating dietary restrictions. My food was delivered to the table separately by gloved hand with confirmation that it was gluten free. Celiac can be so isolating sometimes, especially in restaurants, but Burtons gave me a sense of normalcy and inclusivity. Great job Burtons!

When we visit the Sterling, VA area we always eat once or twice at Burtons. Great experience as always and even ate the GF bread appetizer for the first time. Our servers were great and attentive. The chef brought one of the dishes out. Hopefully they open one in the Hampton Roads again someday.

My daughter has celiac disease and type 1 diabetes and she was glutened tonight by an inattentive waitress. She put her need for gluten-free in the reservation (it was an anniversary), she ordered from the gluten-free menu, she told the waitress she had celiac disease when they asked about allergies, and she used the words gluten-free when she described what she was ordering. She was brought gluten bread which she ate a few bites of. She stopped and asked the waitress, who then replied, “oh, that’s right, you were supposed to have gluten-free.” The manager tried to make up for it but it can’t make up for the next difficult 24 hours that she’s going to have.

I was staying at a hotel nearby from out of town and ordered a GF veggie burger. When I got it the bun looked way too good to be GF so I called the restaurant. The team member was super helpful and said if I sent her a picture she could say with 100% certainty whether it was gluten free or not. She confirmed it was not and the manager was so apologetic and made it right by making a new order, throwing in free GF cake, and drive it to my hotel himself! Even though this error happened, the way they made it right really impressed me and showed me they take allergies seriously and this was just an unfortunate fluke!

I’ve been served regular buns when ordering gluten free. I’ve had mushrooms added to my meal when I’ve let the servers know I have a mushroom allergy — added as in not listed as including mushrooms on the menu for that entree.

And I’ve kept trying to like this restaurant because the reviews are so good. But last night I was once again glutened and feeling crappy today. I reconfirmed that each part of my meal was GF when it was served and ordered water. I’ve given up on this place. I’ve been sick after too many meals to ever want to return.

Recently had dinner at Burton’s and was impressed. All my gluten-free food came out on square plates to identify them as gluten-free. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable/trained. I used to eat here, multiple locations, and never had an issue until tonight. Also not one to normally write reviews. Going to keep this short, I have a nut and gluten allergy. Waiter was made aware of this before we ordered and I ensured when I ordered food to repeat this information. I ordered the GF bread which came with pesto and a few other sides I said no pesto explicitly and it came with peso first time around. Then, my salad came and halfway through I noticed a crouton in it. This is NOT the waiters fault. I am sure they mentioned allergies in the ticket for my food. This is 100% a kitchen issue/quality control issue. Very disappointing, will not be coming back.

Terrific with GF and just about any allergy. Every server asks about allergies when they come to the table. I am celiac and went with my friend who is dairy free and has a host of other allergies and they took excellent care of both of us. AND they treated us well and not like an annoyance, which is really great. The food is solid - get the wings - and they have a lovely menu. Great spot. Highly recommend.

I am a repeat customer at Burton’s. I was diagnosed with celiac disease 18 years ago and, by far, this is my favorite GF restaurant. I know that they have dedicated fryers for gf customers as well as a dedicated kitchen area. I go there often and have never had a bad reaction to their food and my stomach is super sensitive! Fir tears, I was afraid to go out for dinner, so stayed at home and cooked GF. Eventually I got brave. Some restaurants were successful, some not. This is definitely a safe restaurant if you suffer from celiac disease or are gluten sensitive. My favorites are the calamari (also my family favorite), and fish bronzed tacos. So many items in their regular menu are also made GF, and their specials can be modified in the GF kitchen-at least every item that I’ve asked for so far. I cannot say enough GOOD things about this restaurant!❤

Great experience. Their website goes indepth on the precautions they take. Very extensive gf menu options. When I told our server that I had celiacs he pulled out a dedicated order slip that's a different color and everything. He went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met. Possibly the most careful gf prep I've ever been to in 20 years of being gluten free. Servers required to take tests to be an allergy expert. Gf food prepared separately and come out on a different shaped plate. Food was excellent. The best sweet potato fries, cooked in dedicated fryer.

The staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating for gluten free (and other allergies). Right when you come in, they ask if anyone needs a gluten free menu. The waiter told us that they take allergy prep very seriously, and someone else brought out my gluten free plate. They have a dedicated gluten free fryer, so I was able to take some of my boyfriend’s fries! (We asked for them on a separate plate.) I had the orecchiette pasta. The pasta was a bit over cooked, but I loved the sauce and the stuffed zucchini. They have a lot of gf options! Even cocktails are listed on the gf menu!

Burton’s continues to be our family’s “go-to” place. As locals, we know we will always get a really good, safe meal. Can get pricey, but the GF fried calamari makes everything better!

This place was amazing. They have gf menu but my husband had regular menu and they were almost identical. My husband had the gf fried haddock sandwich and I had crab crusted haddock with Mac and cheese. Everything tasted great. Lots of appetizers, main menu food and a chocolate cake that I got to go because I was to full but looks wonderful.

I've eaten here several times and have never gotten sick. They are knowledgeable and always happy to accommodate my diet. The gluten-free menu is extensive. I love their burgers and how their buns don't get mushy or fall apart like so many others do. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that offers a gluten-free bread service (although it is an extra cost) - the focaccia is delicious. Usually I don't have room for dessert, but I did try the cheesecake one time and it was amazing, creamy and decadent. I wish I lived in town so I could go here all the time.
