Contemporary American restaurant known for premium food, extensive gluten-free menu in Burlington & warm hospitality.

On safety—Burtons Grill takes many precautions in safely serving gluten-free guests. Hosts ask if anyone in the party needs a gluten-free menu before seating. Servers inquire about food allergies or dietary restrictions when greeting the table. Cooks wash their hands & change gloves before starting any allergy meal. Special sets of purple cutting boards, chef knives & utensils are set aside in the kitchen to prepare only gluten-free food & they are washed/sanitized in between every use. There are three separate fryers in the kitchen, two of which are always dedicated gluten-free. Gluten does not touch the charbroiler. All gluten-free/allergy food is served on square plates to designate them as such & they are delivered to the table by a manager or certified allergy specialist.

I have personally have celiac disease and am very careful every time I go out. This past Easter my family and I went there for Easter brunch as they are known for their gluten free menu and allergy policy. Well 48 hours after that brunch I proceeded to have a reaction and have been sick for 3 days. I called Burtons spoke to a manager and explained my situation and hoped it wouldn’t happen to anyone else and I was brushed off and told my dish was naturally gluten free. An hour later I got a call that they talked to the chef and kitchen my food was mishandled and had gluten in it. They offered me a gift card for my problems as I’ve been sick for 3 days unable to leave my house. Please be careful here I don’t trust them and I do not want to see anyone else get sick !

Daughter has celiac. And we all are GF now. Best GF burger I have eaten yet! Hands down. The bun was not like traditional GF buns. The fries and tenders are in its own fryers. They have their own GF menu. The GF are on square plates so they know to take special care.

As always, Burton’s had excellent celiac protocols and we enjoyed a delicious meal here this past weekend. We shared a bread starter (warm rosemary focaccia with a few dipping sauces) and fried calamari. We chose salads for dinner but they have varied options from sandwiches to burgers to fish tacos to pasta - all safely GF. Dedicated fryer. Love Burton’s!

Greeted by being asked if we needed a gf menu at the front entrance. Food options were absolutely awesome and food was delicious as always. Asymptomatic Celiac

Update: Corporate reassured me that all was well.

I’ve been dining at Burtons for years. Love it. They are fantastic with allergies. Until now… This is an email I just sent to their corporate inbox. Awaiting response. Will update once I hear more.

The Problem: During my visit last week to the Burlington, MA location, I was informed — very professionally and kindly by both our waitress and the window manager — that the introduction of a new menu item (spring rolls) dramatically increases the chances of cross-contamination. These spring rolls, as I was informed, are now fried in a shared fryer with both the formerly gluten free chicken wings, tortilla chips, and onion rings — all items that are marked as gluten free on the menu. Your restaurants are now commingling gluten-containing and gluten-free foods in the same fryer, which is something your restaurants have been a leader in avoiding. You have set the standard for allergy precautions. Now, however, our order of chicken wings, Buffalo chicken dip, and a Maxx burger was now a tremendously risky order for someone with Celiac Disease. The staff did an excellent job notifying me of this and helping me to reorder a safer meal. I am hugely thankful for them.

The Requested Solution: This note is not to call for reprimand of the staff (quite to the contrary, given their excellent service), rather I’d encourage Burtons as a corporation to reestablish the excellent allergy handling protocols it has had for years — the protocols that make people like me comfortable and draw us to your business. Please work with your restaurants to have a dedicated fryer for containing gluten containing ingredients only. This would leave all other fryers safe for those with allergies.

We were greeted kindly and asked about allergies by the hostess. Our lovely server, Kelly, I think, reiterated that and said she would write down severe allergy. We had gluten free focaccia bread, nice! And I had Mediterranean chicken risotto, which was delicious! So many choices! So good and no issues!

I will never eat here again. Twice in the last two months I have received tainted food. The first time it was a piece of pasta on risotto. Tonight it was regular pasta instead of gluten free. The manager refused to take responsibility, saying it wasn't his fault. No remorse.

Amazing! Sat at the bar as we had no reservations. We were immediately greeted and asked about food allergies, as was everyone else served near us. Our food came out separately as my hubby isn't gf, from different directions. I asked if they had dedicated area for allergens and was told yes. I'm not CD, but severely intolerant and was fine. Our friends whose children have peanut and tree nut allergies also eat here without difficulty. And might I mention, the food was delicious???

I’ve been eating at Burton’s since being diagnosed Celiac 4 years ago and never had to worry. This was my first visit to this location. I informed my server of my need for gluten free and my burger was brought out on a square plate ( which is how Burton’s identifies allergy plates). I was suspicious of the bun and had my non Celiac partner try it who confirmed it was not gluten free. We sent it back and the manager who brought out my meal apologized profusely but for a restaurant praising itself on allergy accommodation this is an alarming mixup especially since it appears the last reviewer had the same problem. I’m lucky we caught this before I ate it and got sick but this definitely erodes my confidence.

This place is supposed to be the gold standard for celiacs but I’m not sure. We told the waitress at least 5 times that our son had celiac and his order needed to be GF. She repeated it back to us. Yet when his burger came out, it was not on a GF bun. They apologized profusely (although didn’t credit his meal). Anyway, the lesson is, if you have celiac you always have to be vigilant.

Outstandingl - had dinner here last evening with our family and hubby (who was diagnosed with Celiac last year) enjoyed a fantastic dinner. His GF menu was almost equal in size and choices as the regular menu. He enjoyed fried calamari for the first time in over a year. The whole family enjoyed and we ordered extra for the table. Not only GF, the calamari were extremely tender. Everyone, including our 7 year old Grandson, enjoyed a great dinner. Our server Nick was great as well as being knowledgeable about Celiac. We so recommend this restaurant and t will be our go to spot when visiting our children who live in area. Thank you Burtons!

First thing the hostess asked, after how many people in our party, was if anyone had a gluten allergy or sensitivity. This started out our dining experience on the right foot! They have a full separate GF menu with appetizers, soups and main courses. Not just a couple choices! The server also asked first thing too about allergies. We ordered the GF calamari as an appetizer ...EXCELLENT! Highly recommend ordering! My main course was the breaded fish sandwich with fries, this was a messy sandwich and needed a little extra tarter, but it was great. The kids menu choices were a little pricey for what was provided. We arrived for our meal about 20 minutes before closing (since we had to find a gf place, of course). They were extremely accommodating and didn't give the impression that we were a hindrance which we knew we were. All of the staff was fantastic. Highly recommend this restaurant!

This place was amazing. They have gf menu but my husband had regular menu and they were almost identical. Lots of appetizers, main menu food and a chocolate cake that I got to go because I was to full but looks wonderful.

I am blown away by my experience here! The hostess asked if anyone needed a GF menu before we were even seated. There was a blurb on the menu about how seriously they take accommodating dietary restrictions. My food was delivered to the table separately by gloved hand with confirmation that it was gluten free. Celiac can be so isolating sometimes, especially in restaurants, but Burtons gave me a sense of normalcy and inclusivity. Great job Burtons!

I've eaten here several times and have never gotten sick. They are knowledgeable and always happy to accommodate my diet. The gluten-free menu is extensive. I love their burgers and how their buns don't get mushy or fall apart like so many others do. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that offers a gluten-free bread service (although it is an extra cost) - the focaccia is delicious. Usually I don't have room for dessert, but I did try the cheesecake one time and it was amazing, creamy and decadent. I wish I lived in town so I could go here all the time.
