Got sick after eating a "GF" pizza here and it didn't even taste good.

I had a salad from them which was good...but their gluten free pizza crust was disappointing, the taste was off and wasn’t enjoyable.

You may have better luck with their pasta but unfortunately their pizza might get you sick. They take a lot of precautions against cross contamination with their GF pizza but unfortunately they don’t go far enough.
Are the GF pizza crusts stored individually and separately- check
Do they put the GF pizza crust on aluminum foil to prevent CC in the shared oven - check
Do they prepare other gluten filled pizzas in the same area? Unfortunately yes
Do they use the ingredients for GF pizzas from shared open containers in the same space where they prepare gluten filled pizzas? Unfortunately yes
Does flour get everywhere when they prepare gluten filled pizzas? Unfortunately yes
Ive eaten here a total of maybe 3 times. The first time I didn’t get sick and had a great experience but the restaurant was empty. The next time I went, I got sick. I figured I’d give it a third try as maybe the second time was a fluke, but it wasn’t and I got sick again. All 3 times I got pizza. It’s a shame because the staff understands cross contamination, enough to implement the steps I mentionef above. But their efforts just don’t go far enough unfortunately. Until they can prepare gluten free pizza with non-shared ingredients in a non-shared space, I won’t be going back.
No
The staff is amazing. Gluten free pizza, pasta and calzones if you ask. Great salads!!! Total win!!
They have gluten free pizza and pasta and will take necessary precautions to avoid cross contamination
Yes
I've had the gluten free penne vodka it was really good and the portion size was decent. The gluten free pizza is was ok, very small and plain. I could probably eat at least 2 of them.
Yes
The pizza is bomb. I recommend getting mushrooms, chicken and ricotta. Otherwise only pasta though so selection is limited, but best pizza around
Gluten free pizza is good. Asked about cross contamination and pizza is cooked in same oven using same board to pull the pizza from the oven as other pizzas. They state the heat will kill off the gluten but be reminded gluten can't be killed off by heat as it is s protein. So cross contamination exists so warming for sensitive celiacs.
Best GF pizza crust I have had. Their hot wings are good as well. They get my business every time I visit Jersey/NYC!
Yes
Great pizza!
Great pizza and baked ziti. The only reason this place gets 4 stars is the wait! The wait staff are not very attentive and it takes forever for the food to come out
I enjoy! Plus is brick oven! :)
John's has gluten free pizza and pasta. Crust was way better than most gf crusts I've had.
Have eaten here many times, but this was the first time eating here since I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I read reviews that anyone with celiac should avoid the pizza due to possible cross contamination. Well, I was craving pizza and I know their non gluten free pizza is amazing so I decided to give it a try. And let me just say I live in NJ so I had to drive well over an hour to get home so if I had a problem this could be huge. Well, NO ISSUES AT ALL and the pizza was delicious. I am so tired of the pre-made gluten free pizzas I get at pizzerias near me and THIS WAS NOT THAT. So happy I decided to take the chance.

I asked if they used a separate tray for their GF pizza. They told me no, but the oven was so hot that it would burn the gluten. đ did not eat here for that reason.

I had eaten at John’s previously but not since being diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease in 2015.
I ordered a takeout gluten free pizza with pepperoni and requested it extra crispy. The crust was fresh, airy and impeccably crisp. It had the perfect proportions of sauce, cheese and pepperoni making it truly delectable. The aromatic zest was truly mouthwatering making each bite better than the previous! It was the ideal size (10”) and left me satisfyingly full but not feeling like I ate too much. Overall this gluten free pizza was truly amazing and has earned a place in my top 3 gluten free pizzas of all time. I highly recommend it and will definitely go back there again, two thumbs up!!! đđ

It pains me to not rate them highly, because before my celiac diagnosis Johns was one of my favorite pre-theatre restaurants. But it really isn't Celiac safe. Although they offer GF pizza and pasta, they are upfront about the fact that they don't take any precautions to avoid cross contamination. And the flour is flying around because they make the dough fresh on site, so there isn't much they can do. I had an excellent salad, but even that felt a tad risky in this environment.

They have a yummy gluten free pizza. They also have gluten free pasta on the menu. Cross contamination though. I’m sensitive to gluten so a small cross contamination doesn’t cause problems for me.
