I can confirm that the only GF dish is the Spicy Chicken (which can be made non-spicy) - it comes with carrots and peapods and can get either white or brown rice. Of note: chicken is fried in soybean oil - you can ask them to stream it in chicken broth (which took a while to confirm that was GF) and you can ask them to serve the non-spicy chile vinegar sauce on the side (quite sugary in my opinion). An hour later I was still doing fine and it was delicious! The only bummer is that it did take a long time to order as I made it clear that my ordering GF was not a fad but a medical necessity. It did seem a bit of a sting that in my take out bag there was a fortune cookie (definitely not GF) - makes me wonder how educated the workers are about GF though I think the person who bagged my order didn't know I was GF.
The one entree available as GF is spicy chicken. Not bad, and is now on my list next to Chipotle for airport and fast on-the-go GF food!
I 've had Pei Wei at the Minneapolis airport and love it. I was very excited to see it was here. Unfortunately, they were closed at 8p. they were the only restaurant closed on the concourse. Very dissappointed. I did get a good GF meal at ChopHouse, but very pricey.
Horrible experience. Their menu clearly marked an item as GF. I ordered it and had a few bites. It didn't taste right, so I returned to the counter. I was scolded that I had to request the item GF, even though there was no indication a request was needed. The menu clearly stated GF, not a GF option. Took a lengthy time for a cash refund. Be careful out there.
Happy to find a pei Wei where I've successfully ordered before in other locations. Only one option (spicy chicken) but it hit the spot. Food court option but freshly made. Near gate e-11
Everyone seemed very skeptical of my request to make sure it was cooked in a clean pan. We'll see how I feel....
They only have two options, but when you are hungry at the airport it's better than anything. They cooked it in a clean wok and were understanding of my gluten allergy.
The spicy chicken was so yummy. Kind of disappointed the steak is not gluten free. They do offer gluten free soy sauce packets.
gluten free menu, has sweet and sour chicken .
It's unfortunate they only offer 2 GF items - and with only 2 different sauce choices. It would be great for us (Celiac's) if they would use GF soy sauce to make ALL of their sauces. It makes no sense why they don't, because they give you packets of GF soy sauce when you order take out. The good news is....you can choose white rice, brown rice, or rice noodles to go with your choice of meat. I LOVE the fact you can get the chicken or shrimp grilled or steamed with NO breading on it. I also love that they DO offer a GF breading-like coating made from potato starch for those of us who like a coating once in a while. I've recently tried this restaurant for the first time. I'm glad to say I'll be eating at Pei Wei's at least 2x per week for the rest of my life. The food is delicious, they have good prices, and the inside decoration & layout is very appealing. I love the atmosphere here. If they take my advice about their sauces, I'll be eating here 3-5x per week! It's THAT darn good. =)
Food was fried , sweet and saucy. Not the best Asian food that I have had.
Very limited menu, but tasted good
I ordered 1 of 5 items they offer that's gluten free. After waiting about 20min for my food, I get in my car to find the shrimp they gave me is breaded.... The cook did not change his gloves to make my food and I have no idea if the sauce he used is gluten free or not. Would not recommend as a gluten free restaurant. Second star is for the gal at the front desk, she was nice.
The food is delicious, however, BIG HOWEVER... twice they put a noodle in the middle of my rice and I got sick. if cross contamination is a problem, I wouldn't recommend.
Best Pei Wei in the Nashville area. Several GF options to choose from.
They were out of Vietnamese Rolls, which is what I come here for. I tried the Asian chicken salad, but it was bland: iceberg lettuce, three little shreds of chicken and a few thin strips of red pepper. Not worth 8 dollars. I took one bite and took it back. They were nice about refunding my money, though.
The pei Wei we used to go to closed and we drove 20 minutes to get dinner. We never had trouble getting a fried rice made gluten free at the other place but the cashier told us they don't do that if they are busy (they aren't really) and she'd have to ask her manager. I watched that interaction and th manager flat out refused to use GF soy sauce for me. When my husband told her we'd just driven out of the way she said they could make it without sauce because they do t have any GF sauce - blaming her cashier for 'not understanding'.
They have an all new menu with dedicated pans and frying area! Spicy chicken is wonderful and I have eaten multiple times and have never been sick! My go to restaurant for affordable and delicious Chinese!
Never had an issue here from their gluten free menu, my wife and I eat here all the time and her Celiacs is very sensitive. Never had an issue with cross contamination. Their gluten free menu is small but very delicious!
there are very few dishes that are gf, and the ones they do have are boring
Their menu was measly for gluten free options providing only about 5 things one of which was a kids option. I orders their pei Wei spicy chicken but it came out breaded. I sent it back and they brought it out again but with less breading. The person who brought it out didn't understand what gluten free was so I couldn't explain why even the lighter dusting of flour was bad. Needless to say, I gave up and went someplace else. Hopefully their other chains are not as daft.
really limited options. Too bad too because their Parent company, PFChangs has a lot.of options and delish. If I feel like sweet and sour chicken I go here for lunch. sad they just introduced new salads and none of them have a gluten free dressing.
The gluten free menu has a few safe options and the food was tasty. It has been a long time since the last time I was able to eat anything Asian. Thank you for trying Pei Wei. Something is better than nothing and so far so good without any issues (fingers crossed), it's still early.
The staff here were superb. We have 3 small kids and they were very accommodating and helpful. They went above and beyond. Everyone enjoyed their food. Not a ton of GF options, but they were all clearly labeled on menu. We would definitely recommend based on our experience.
i get gluten free pei wei spicy with white rice several times a month and they do an amazing job. the food taste great and I've never had an issue.
Even though the GF menu is teeny tiny, I LOVED my sweet and sour shrimp. They use some potato and tapioca flour to bread the shrimp, which added texture and flavor.
My family has been coming here for years and we love it! Their gf chicken spring rolls are always fresh and yummy. My son always gets the GF sweet and sour chicken and I enjoy either a salad or the GF spicy shrimp. Never had any reaction after eating here. They also take online orders which is great.
Only one gf entree and one gf appetizer. But it's very good and I've never gotten sick! They have Tamari (soy sauce) on request only. Tip: Ask for the gold soy sauce packs!
While I really like the few options that they have here I find myself going less and less due to the very limited GF menu. They need to provide more/new options.
I've been getting take-out at this location for a while, but today my GF meal and my daughter's non-GF meal were switched and labeled incorrectly. Both were put up side by side, unlabeled. The manager asked which one was gf so he could label the lid, there seemed to be some confusion, and then they labeled the wrong one as gf (not sure they even looked at the ticket). I understand that mistakes happen, but when I asked the manager to re-make the gf meal (since the chicken in both looked identical and we couldn't tell for sure), he seemed confused. I tried to explain to him that gluten makes some people sick so I couldn't just hope it was gf. He then offered to make another one but I felt uncomfortable that they knew what they were doing. I probably shouldn't have ordered gf and non-gf together, and they were very busy, but it makes me nervous to go back for now.
It takes like dish soap every time I go there now! All I can figure is they are trying to clean the gluten off the pan and don't get all the soap off. I have thrown away my meal two or three times, so I'm not going back here again.
The manager Chris was very knowledgeable about celiac disease and guided me through the gluten-free menu options. The Pei Wei spicy chicken salad (mild version) was very flavorful and I will definitely return again.
I came here without any high expectations because, after all, most Chinese food is dangerous territory. Their gluten free menu isn't extensive by any means however, their gluten free sweet and sour chicken is delicious! I didn't experience any negative reactions to their food so it's definitely a place I'll try again. Worth a shot!
Delicious spicy chicken! One of my go-to restaurants on the go. Never had a problem .
Small GF menu but always yummy and reliable. The GF spicy chicken is my usual go-to.
