The Chop House

The food was good. I had a steak (no butter, no seasoning) , steamed broccoli (no seasoning), and a baked potato with only sour cream. Ice cream for dessert. The server was really nice and was willing to ask questions about how my food was prepared. However, the food still made me sick (I am really sensitive to it). I’m guessing it was from the steak being grilled on the same surface as other steaks with the seasoning on it? I wouldn’t recommend eating here if you are celiac unless perhaps you only ate a salad with no meat on it.

I am always my own advocate for dining out. I don’t expect servers to know. However, my server was knowledgeable and asked me questions about the tippings and sides just to be sure. Lots of items to chose from. Good food!

Do not go. Told them specifically about my allergy multiple times. Salad came out with a rogue rice noodle. Watched them make the salad, they didn’t wear gloves. Said they did. Server then tried to convince me the rice noodles are gluten free even though on the menu it states they are not gf. This place is not worth the risk!

After asking for a gluten free menu, telling my waitress, and talking to the manager, I was served a salad with gluten rice noodles on it. Then two people with me got steaks cooked wrong after having to send back all of our drinks because they were wrong. Then after being served my steak and eaten half of it, the manager came to take it away from me because they had seasoned it containing gluten. Yes, I got very sick. Being sick when on vacation when you took all precautions is not fun. I would NOT recommend this place.

We had an exceptional meal. I find these places easy dietarily. Great steak. The waitress wasn't very knowledgable about gluten free food but happily ran back to the chef with questions

Although they have gluten free menu server was not as familiar with celiac and food allergies as she should have been. I've been very sick for three days since eating there probably from cross contamination. Will not go back. Very disheartening because chop house use to have very high standards.

Our waiter Brandon was amazing and hands down the best waiter we've ever had! As soon as I told him I had a gluten allergy the manager came out with the gluten free menu. They have a great selection to pick from. When I had a question about a sauce the manager went to the back and looked at the ingredients to verify if it was gluten free. The food tasted amazing. Definitely worth the money. It made the perfect romantic dinner. This place is a definite stop when we come back.

They had a GF menu with a disclaimer on it at the top about contaminated utensils and grilling areas and a kitchen staff not trained to deal with allergies. That should have been my clue to run. I had the salmon without seasoning, steamed broccoli, and a sweet potato. They were able to accommodate dairy free. Their sweet potato fries are listed on the gf menu but are fried in a shared fryer. The food is delicious and the servers try, but before I finished my meal, I had a few symptoms show up. I hoped it was just a fluke but it kept getting worse and I knew what had happened. Clearly there was contamination. They have great tasting food and know how to cook their salmon to order, but it’s just not safe to eat there if you have allergies and/or celiac or issues with contamination.

The manager came to the table with the gluten free menu. Since I am allergic to wheat and not gluten I asked about an allergen menu. She was able to go to the back and get a spreadsheet for us to look at to make sure what I ordered didn’t contain any wheat. She did let me know that there was no guarantee that cross contamination wouldn’t occur, but it was a really good experience.

Prime rib was excellent. Otherwise not a lot of gluten free choices.

I’ve been ordering from them for years and I’ve always tried to show grace but after multiple mistakes in the last month I’m done. Fried chicken tender batter all over my gluten-free meal this is the second time I’ve had an issue with them in four weeks
