Yum! My son’s favorite restaurant. He has celiac disease. So many options.
— Separate gluten-free menu
I have celiac disease and was excited to try a place that “gets it.” I let my server know that I have celiac and asked for a gf menu. I ordered a pancake. After I was three bites in, my server came back and said he needed to stop me because he couldn’t be certain my pancake was gf because it didn’t come out of the kitchen with the gf toothpick in it. He apologized, took the plate, and had another remade. Thankfully, I didn’t get sick. So maybe it was gf but just wasn’t marked. The pancake was great! Smelled like a funnel cake! I’ll definitely be back to try lunch.
I went back a second time and had a breakfast with eggs, bacon, and a pancake. After, I was violently ill. I won’t go back.

An entire separate gluten free menu for breakfast and lunch. Lots of choices and everyone is very knowledgeable. The owner’s daughter has Celiac Disease so the restaurant knows everything they must do to keep dinners with Celiac safe. Great place for brunch and lunch. Great drink menu too!

I didn’t get sick but one of the dishes I ordered was not marked gluten free. The pancake was terrible and the eggs were mediocre. I’ve had much better food that I felt much safer about.

The Shack has multiple locations in St. Louis. The owner’s daughter has Celiac. They also own The Corner Pub.
There is a separate gluten free menu. They have a separate fryer and kitchen space for gluten free items. My food came with an “allergy” tag. I felt very safe. The food and service were very good.

The owners daughter has celiac so they really know their stuff when it comes to gluten free! Make sure to tell the wait staff you need to eat gluten free and they’ll bring a gluten free menu and cook all your food in a clean area of the kitchen!

Had a blueberry pancake that was delicious. The menu says the owner’s daughter has Celiac, so they are very cautious with GF.

Our son has Ciliac and we were so happy to hear how knowledgeable the staff was and the owner ensures a true GF environment. Back story is his daughter was diagnosed with Ciliac as well. The food is fabulous too!

I have Celiac and had no issues. Fantastic food and great service from our server Fontez. We were there for breakfast. Separate gluten free menu with a lot of options from pancakes to omelets to skillet meals. It was great to be able to eat hashbrowns at a restaurant. Highly recommend!

Great experience like everyone else. The menu isn’t quite as extensive as the non-gf but still plenty of options! The staff is trained about cross-contamination.

Great breakfast place and the menu states would they do to prevent cross contamination. The waitress confirmed the procedures with me. Got a smoothie and the corned beef hash and didn’t get sick.

Wow is this place good! Fabulous GF options!

THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! There is a delicious GF menu with many options that are celiac safe AND an amazing regular menu. I get the Meg Ryan, which is on the regular menu, but it's just a combination of carb, meat, eggs, and hashbrowns, so I order it with the GF blueberry pancakes. You will feel like a normal human eating here. THANK YOU to the owners! (It get crowded, so get there early or late!)

Staff is extremely knowledgeable and careful.

They have a dedicated space for the gluten-free food which is important for the person who has celiac disease.
There is a VERY good reason why they are the top gluten free restaurant in the St. Louis area. Had the gf chicken parmesan sandwich and sweet potato tots!!!!!!!!!!! We will be back

I have a wheat allergy and decided to try this restaurant. They were busy and I decided to get a take out order. I had gluten free blueberry pancakes with bacon and hash browns. The food was really good. The staff seemed very knowledgeable about the gluten free menu and food.
I always love finding gf treasures on vacation! My small town has no options. This place is celiac friendly. Their daughter is celiac and their story is on the back of the menus. The staff was very knowledgeable and kind. For the first time in 5 years, I ate a pancake from a restaurant! I didn’t know that was possible. I highly recommend giving them a try if you’re in the area!

Really good food, and they seem to be really careful about cross contamination, the pancakes and skillets are really good.

Owners have a daughter with celiac. Everyone from hostess to servers are well educated and don't bat an eye when asking for their (extensive!) gluten free menu or ordering from that menu. I felt like normal diner for once. It was wonderful. The fact that the food, atmosphere, and service are fantastic kind of makes it seem to good to be true...but it's deliciously true!!

love love love this place!!!!
Food was amazing! Love the pancakes!

I feel normal eating here. Substantial gluten free menu and they have separate fryers!

This was by far the most amazing gluten free meal I’ve had since being diagnosed with celiac. The pancakes are amazing and the staff super helpful. My family that isn’t gf loved their food as well.

Even though you still need to ask for the GF menu; it was fantastic to finally have a breakfast skillet again. No reaction to the "Kitchen Sink" and my non-GF mate really enjoyed his Huevos Rancheros (despite having verde/tamatillo sauce instead of the usual red sauce). Will visit again before leaving St. Louis!
FYI: Sunday morning (appx. 0900 check in) wait is 35-40min. thru the lunch rush...

Unfortunately, I have to lower my normal rating for The Shack. They used to have so many choices for gluten free but they seem to be paring down their gf menu. No peanut butter, no steak and egg breakfast, no corn tortilla for breakfast tacos. Just seems like they could have some extra items that wouldn't cost that much but would allow more options. Used to be so fun to come here. Still feel safe eating here but let's go back to more options, please. .

The shack’s owners have a daughter with celiac. They have a separate GF menu. Just ask for it at the host station. They cook anything ordered gluten free on a dedicated cook station. Everything we’ve gotten is delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch, but only breakfast on Sundays.
