The Shack

Unfortunately, I have to lower my normal rating for The Shack. They used to have so many choices for gluten free but they seem to be paring down their gf menu. No peanut butter, no steak and egg breakfast, no corn tortilla for breakfast tacos. Just seems like they could have some extra items that wouldn't cost that much but would allow more options. Used to be so fun to come here. Still feel safe eating here but let's go back to more options, please. .

We stopped here for breakfast based off reviews on this app and reviews in a local group. This place did not disappoint. My sons both ordered the gluten free chocolate chip pancakes with sausage. The pancake was huge and fluffy. We will definitely come back if we return to the area.

We live out of town and when we come in town to see our gaping we we make this restaurant a must stop. Our daughter has celiac and we have been here twice. Both times we tell the staff of her condition and they have been very accommodating. The gf food is delicious, staff is so friendly and professional. We live this place! We have a newly diagnosed Celiac in our family and are traveling from out of town. I found this restaurant on the Find Me GF app and was delighted when I read that the owner’s daughter herself has Celiac and thus, the restaurant is sensitive to the challenges of eating out with Celiac Disease, especially when traveling. I was excited that I’d found a place for my family with GF options as well as options for our non-GF members.

Imagine my surprise when my daughter ordered GF pancakes and was told that the restaurant was out of GF pancake mix! On a Saturday? The day before Mother’s Day? One of the most popular weekends of the year for family dining? At a restaurant owned by a family affected by Celiac?

Needless to say, we were disappointed. The food was good but because they had a hard time accommodating my daughter’s health needs, I would not recommend as a gluten-friendly establishment.

I had the Egg whites and b sprouts with bruschetta topping. So good! We tried a pancake as well. Very large size pancake! All good! Feeling fine about 12 hours later.

We’ve eaten here many times today without issues. The food is great and they have a great gf menu. But today my daughter ate the chocolate chip pancakes and got sick. This makes us sad, as it’s our go-to breakfast place that we’ve always felt safe at.

SO GOOD! The Shack is one of few places you don’t sit there feeling left out when everyone else is eating pancakes. YES, pancakes!!! The owners daughter has celiac and they have a special GF menu called Hanna’s at The Shack, full of breakfast and lunch options. Your food comes out with GF labeled toothpicks so you don’t sit there questioning, why does this look SO good, you sure I can eat this?!?

I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This place is truly AMAZING!!! Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, awesome menu. One of the owners has a daughter with celiac and the entire staff is very well trained on gluten free food prep and safety. If you are ever in an area with The Shack if is a MUST TRY!

This place is a gluten-free jackpot for breakfast and lunch with a totally celiac-friendly menu and kitchen. If you delight in actually having a sandwich for lunch, this is your spot. I had the turkey with sweet potato tots (yum!). Friendly, fast service and funky decor make it a win.

Although they are amazing with GF sensitivities, if you have dairy sensitivities on top of GF beware. They add sour cream to pancakes and egg batter. I ended up eating special eggs made for me today, that’s it. The fruit I ordered never came. Although the manager was super sweet and accommodating. I don’t understand why America feels the need to add all this extra crap to their food. Whatever happened to “just eggs” or “just pancakes.” That’s why everyone has high cholesterol, seriously.

The shack’s owners have a daughter with celiac. They have a separate GF menu. Just ask for it at the host station. They cook anything ordered gluten free on a dedicated cook station. Everything we’ve gotten is delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch, but only breakfast on Sundays.

Love the pancakes. They are literally the size of a dinner plate. They mark them so they don’t get mixed with normal ones
