Staff are very knowledgeable about celiac. One of our favorite places to go. Chef or manager will come out to the table if they know that you have celiac to explain the menu options and how the food is prepared. Food is great also and you can get enough to take home for the next day.
As mentioned in other reviews, the chef comes out to talk to you about the GF options and to make sure you are comfortable with how your food is being prepared. I've never had issues eating here except that I over eat and complain about being overstuffed... It's the "good" kind of bloating! ;-) This is one of the only places I will add "celiac friendly" to the rating.
I am sitting at Maggianos as I write this review because they absolutely deserve it. I came to eat here mid day and the chef himself came to my table to talk to me about my options and the pasta and my mom and I both had (both gluten free but different dishes) was by far the best gluten free pasta I have ever had whether at home or I'm a restaurant. They care about allergies and made sure I was satisfied and I am leaving full with leftovers I can't wait to eat later.
Great food and the server I had was very aware of celiacs/gluten intolerant diet.
person who cooks your food comes out to review options with you and takes notes on your needs. my son has celiac, and they graciously accommodated his picky kid taste buds, as well as his dietary needs. he devoured the gf pasta, and I had some too. it was quite tasty and had a nice mouth feel. great dining option! we'll be back again and again!
Today I found a hidden gem of the gluten free foodie world. My best friend and blogger – Sara Wyen of Words To Run By went with me to the Celiac Awareness Tour in Cincinnati, Ohio today. We were excited to see all the fun, new gluten free goodies with all the vendors. Another blog post coming soon on that… While we were there, Maggiano’s Little Italy chef Karl Lenz was there speaking and doing a gluten free demo. Well, I knew exactly where the Maggiano’s Kenwood was located and we zipped on over there for lunch. I am so glad we did. Upon entering the restaurant, I asked for the gluten free menu. They explained rather than having a gluten free menu, the Assistant Manager would come out and explain the gluten free options and ensure my meal was allergy safe. Matthew Powell, the Assistant General Manager came over to the table after our waiter quickly brought us drinks and very thoroughly explained how 90% of their menu items can be made into gluten free dishes. He walked me through the menu and made sure I was clear on food preparation, ingredients and options for celiac disease. This was the most gluten friendly and celiac aware place I’ve been to yet. 90% of their menu items could be made gluten free – surely it wasn’t so. This place isn’t on any of the safe lists or gluten free places to eat. Oh boy, did they knock my socks off. I decided to try their corn pasta. It. Was. Amazing. Gluten Free Corn Pasta Maggiano’s Sara and I ended up sharing a meal because it was really big. You know what the best part was? They have several menu items that you can get a to go item FREE if you order from the list. Yup – I got 2 meals for the price of one. 1 being a gluten free specialty menu item – without paying extra. Our entire lunch with the meal, Cesar salad for Sara and 2 iced teas was $24. Can you tell we didn’t like it? Just kidding. Matthew even came out after the meal and ensured everything was ok and up to my gluten free liking! Of course I explained. The chef that was doing the demo at the Celiac Awareness Tour, Karl Lenz – was back before we finished lunch and he even came out to welcome us and explain their cooking methods and showed me their pastas! Maggiano’s Corn Pasta I felt completely safe eating here, had no stomach ailments after my meal and will certainly make this a go to spot when we are in Cincinnati. The manager, chef and waiter all made me feel comfortable and took care of me the way a restaurant should with people suffering from food allergies. We already have a big enough burden of having this food allergy, we shouldn’t have to feel like one while eating out.
Worth the trip for the gluten free rolls!
Amazing food and excellent service! They do not have a separate GF menu, but they have GF penne to substitute with any dish! When you let your waiter know you have an allergy, the Chef personally comes to your table for you to place your order! Creme Brûlée is also GF (but not dairy-free), you can eat here without any worry of getting sick! Definitely worth a visit!
Wheat flour based fettuccini was mixed in with my GF penne pasta. I caught it before eating too much, but I still got sick. After bringing the issue to our waiter's attention the manager stopped by. The manager told me I should've asked for her because she knows the GF procedures. Perhaps they should put on the menu :p. Regardless they clearly aren't careful with food prep and definitely don't have a GF separate pasta draining/storage area. No GF specific menu. Eating here isn't worth the risk.
So many GF options, and a great deal to get the 2-person meal with 2 extra pastas to go. All the sauces are GF. Sub GF penne into almost anything. Chopped salad delicious, creme brulee awesome. Pasta was eh, kinda bland. Probably my fault ordering the "light" version of something alfredo. Didn't really like the texture of the penne either.
Great food. They don't really have a gf menu. However, it is true that they can make GF many things on the regular menu. Big exception:they have no gf breads AT All. The pasta we had was excellent. The only gf dessert was creme burlee which was also delicious. I would go back.
Chef will come to table for allergies, just ask your server. Many options including pasta. Great food and great service!
Our waiter was not very friendly and was not helpful whatsoever in pointing out the gluten free options on the regular menu. They don't have a separate gluten free menu. When I ordered the rigatoni which he finally told me could be made gf, I asked him to make sure they boil the noodles in a clean pot with new water. He paused for about five seconds and then said ok while he mumbled something as he wrote my order down. I had a bad feeling about whether or not they were actually going to do it so I just ordered a salad instead. I was very disappointed because I heard that this restaurant takes allergies seriously. Maybe we just had a bad waiter.
I would love to give them 5 stars, but I've gotten sick after eating here more than once. There are good options, and the staff seems knowledgeable, but I'm not so sure about their cross-contamination carefulness. There have been times I've been fine and times I haven't, but I think it's time for me to give up on them.
Had a wonderful time here. Waitress and chef were highly helpful, friendly, and understanding. Had salad with no croutons dressing was naturally gluten free. As for my main meal was told by chef all sauces are naturally with out gluten the only thing they change is its cooked in a different pot with special gluten free noodles and prepared separate from all other meals in the kitchen. The meal was amazing and service great. Will be going back more often.
I was just a Maggiano's for a baby shower. The chef personally came over to talk to me about the gluten free options (it was a Saturday, they had 6 other events and he graciously made the time). The pasta tasted and looked so delicious, cooked to the perfection of normal pasta. To be cautious I sent the server to confirm it was gluten free and it was!!! The tilapia and vegetables had tons of flavor!! Highly recommend for a fantastic gluten free meal, literally one of the best ever!!
I have eaten here several times and always had a dedicated knowledgable staff member oversee my order. The food is always very good and I have never had a reaction eating here. I just make a comment about a "gluten allergy" on my open table reservation and they send someone over to discuss accommodations for my celiac as soon as I'm seated.
Fantastic! They can adapt almost everything on the menu and all the sauces are gluten free which is amazing! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable and I think I love it here!
Absolutely delicious. Chef came to table and offered to prepare 80% of the menu gluten free - not just pastas, all the main courses. Only thing couldn't modify to gluten free was desserts. Speaking of desserts- the creme brûlée was gluten free and it was outstanding, probably the best tasting I have EVER had. The food here is fresh, cooked to order, the staff is friendly, GF knowledgeable, and everything we had was so tasty. BTW they will accommodate many food allergies, ie. eggs, milk, nuts etc. Highly recommend this place even if you have to drive a little while to get there because it is so worth it.
Told waiter about celiac and he said that he could absolutely do that. I ate through a whole part of the veal thinking that the sauce was kinda thick... When I double checked with him he went back to ask the chef who apparently forgot... So... I got very sick. Please ask for manager when placing an order.
My wife and I stopped in for a light dinner (salads), and the waiter immediately asked about allergies. Once I told him my wife was gluten intolerant, allergic to orange and chocolate, he brought the chef out. The food was good, but sitting outside you have to deal with the ignorant public who thinks it is a good idea to strike up a few cigarettes right next to where you are eating. The waiter said inside they can't smoke, but because there isn't a law in NV about public smoking they couldn't do anything. Not a knock on the restaurant, but the environment took away some points.
Everything here is made from scratch, so they can pretty much modify any dish according to your dietary restrictions. I opted not to get the pasta, and instead ordered the chicken marsala. I told the waiter I'm gluten and dairy-free, so they prepared it accordingly and made appropriate substitutions. The waiter seemed knowledgeable, and he made sure to double check with the chef about ingredients. Overall, very accommodating and understanding.
Have eaten here several times and pleased with no reaction later. Chef comes out to speak to you first and provides options. Seem very knowledgeable about cross-contamination.
Went last night and had a horrible experience. After following their protocol and speaking to the chef, they apparently mixed up my dish with my daughter's. They looked similar so after they were served I asked if the server was sure. He said yes he double checked. But no...he mixed up the dishes and I am now paying for it. Will never eat there again.
My 15 yr old recently diagnosed with Celiacs, first vacation has been rough but Maggianos is great. Chef came out and past and sauces are all gluten free! Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken coming up!!
The chef came to our table to discuss my options w me. Sauces here are prepared GF & they can make most dishes by substituting corn pasta. Gr8 service, very knowledgable staff, incredible food. I love this place!

We used to really like this place, but then we went last week for the first time in years and were completely disappointed. For one, they got rid of their GF bread, which was delicious, but not a big deal. The real problem was they don't have a GF menu but claim to be able to make almost everything on the menu GF, which seemed like it would be ok. However, the more we asked about specific options, almost every time they said they couldn't be accommodating. Basically, it seemed like you could order anything as long as you were OK with them modifying it down to GF penne pasta with red sauce. The worst part was that it made the whole experience more about the things we *couldn't* order, rather than about the things we could order. We left completely frustrated, and we wouldn't want anyone else to experience the same thing.
Absolutely fabulous!! All sauces are gluten free. So many choices I had a hard time deciding!! Gluten free rolls that were so soft I couldn't believe they were GF!! Staff is very knowledgable and helpful. I will definitely be returning, on a regular basis.

My office bought lunch for us today and I was excited to be able to partake this time, albeit worried about becoming ill at work. The food was amazing!!! The gentleman taking the order was wonderful. The portion size is huge and to be able to eat (bread) rolls from a restaurant was so exciting. I did not become ill and will be eating there again and again and again.
Yes they cistomize but the pasta is blah. Environment is like over priced country buffet seating. So not worth it! Go to Carabas!!!
I like Magginao's because it is a great option for gluten free pasta, which is penne. I do like that Maggiano's has one of its chefs come out to the table to take your order and discuss the menu with you if it is needed. This is done with any food allergies. Just make sure you make your server aware. The amount of food, especially pasta, is enough for two meals, thus left overs might normally accompany you home. One of my go to dishes is the Chef KB's Lobster Carbonara. You do get a lot of lobster with this dish. Is it the best lobster that you can every have, no, but it accompanies the pasta well. While it isn't the best GF pasta, it isn't by far the worst I've ever had.
In town for the Blade Show with my husband. Attended a dinner at this restaurant. Contacted them in advance and was assured they take food allergies very seriously, asked for my name and said they'd make sure the chef came out to talk to me that evening. Chef did talk to me, personally took my order and brought my food out to me. My meal may have been better than everyone else's! Great experience start to finish.
Had a reservation and was seated 15 mins late. gf pasta was tough and extremely salty. so salty it was inedible. was taken off the bill but I went back to the hotel still hungry. However, I did not get glutened, so that deserves 3 stars.
I went to Maggiano's after seeing all the wonderful reviews. I was so excited to be able to take my husband there for his birthday since it is one of his fave's; And since finding out about my gluten intolerence 6 months ago we haven't gone out to dinner much as I've been learning what to look out for. Unfortuantley, my experience was far different than the positive reviews I read. I told the server right away about my intolerence, she seemed very non chalant about it and quickly said the sauces are free and penne, then she set the bread basket down between us. I asked her very nicely to clarify that penne was the only pasta option and she said yes. I ordered the Rigatoni D since I thought it was a good choice served with Penne. Luckily, I know my pastas because they brought me out the Rigatoni without the GF pasta! I said something to the food runner and she confirmed it was not GF and seemed confused as if it wasn't notated on my order. About 6 minutels later while my huisband sat looking at his pasta getting cold mine finally arrived. I will give it one more shot for him just in case it was just the server who created a bad experience, but needless to say we were very disappointed. (and also, being Italian myself I really wish they had more choices than just Penne.. it would be plain wrong to eat certain sauces over penne... lol)
Chef came out, and made a delicious meal. Whole family loved it! Chicken Alfredo with asparagus over GF penne, kids lived GF penne with meat sauce, husband loved Caesar salad and twice cooked potatoes. To top it off, Creme brûlée desert!! Yummy! We will be back!
We went to Maggianos this weekend, it was packed we made reservations and had to wait about 15 min, no big deal. When we sat down right away the waitress asked if we had any food allergies and I said yes in allergic to gluten, then she went on about I can have the chef come out or just order corn based noodles which was fine with me so I ordered spaghetti and I hate to say it but it was not good at all very dry and the noodles were hard :(. I've made corn based noodles many times and have had it at a few other places and had no problem, maybe next time we will try something else! On a good note they do not up charge you on having to order gf noodles, which no place should really we can't help we have Celiacs. Other then that the waitress was friendly but we waited for our drinks twice at least 10minutes but it was very busy!
Told waiter about gluten sensitivity. She had the chef come out and take my order and he also brought my meal out. All their sauces are gluten free and the gf pasta is delicious. Very packed on weekends.
Expensive, but well worth it. Super gluten free friendly I love lovelove the sauce! The first time I went I had the chef come up to my table, and ask me what I wanted to eat.
soooo amazing definitely some of the best gluten free pasta!!! I had the pasta de mare with lobster, shrimp, mussels and clams with lobster cream sauce and it was amazing also chef came out to the table and.personally took my order
Tasty. Good GF pasta. Haven't had a bad meal or gotten ill, and we've been here a lot. Most times the chef will come speak to you (if I'm just getting a classic pasta I tell them not to worry about it). They've modified many a menu item for me, even beyond their usual modification just because I have a craving. Oh, and the GF rolls are Andreas herb dinner rolls. I have to slap my non-GF husband's hand to stay away from them.
Great for gluten free..chef comes out and talks to you about what you would like. When we come to Vegas it is a must stop for my wife.
