Best option for people with celiac/food allergies in the area! They explained how their staff is all trained and they have separate cookware for allergy orders and separate purple plates for serving. They also let me look at a binder which lists the allergens present in each menu item. I got the side wedge salad and a mushroom and swiss burger on GF pita. I do wish they had a GF bun option since the burger was very greasy, but the flavor was nice. I didn’t have a reaction! I wish I tried the lava cake. Will definitely return next time I’m in town.

I've had Celiac for 5 years and not once have I experienced an owner of a restaurant as passionate and attentive as Sandy . She sat down with me and went over everything I could have on the menu . She went over all the safe practices in their kitchen and how they use purple everything for allergies . The food was absolutely amazing and to top it off they also had local MI GF beer options . My husband and I can't wait to go back .

Great service, they go lots of extra lengths to make sure the food is safe. I had the pulled pork and subbed a pita to eat it in. The wedge salad was excellent. There was lots of choices, if I had been brave I would have tried the queso Mac but I’m not great with spice.

We had a great experience there this weekend. My 8-year-old has celiac and they came out and talked to us about how they prepare the food. They have purple cutting boards, knives, and plates to indicate an allergy. My daughter had buttered noodles and chocolate cake for dessert. They don't have a dedicated fryer, but we were happy with everything. The owner is an allergy mom and really understands.

The owner, Sandy has gone to great lengths to make sure her customers can have a safe and yummy dining experience. The staff have all been through training and follow a process to make sure there is no cross contamination. All GF orders are handled with separate purple cookware/utensils etc. There are multiple options- appetizers, main coarse and desserts. A food allergen binder is also available. Sandy was very attentive in making sure any & all questions were answered and that food was prepared properly and delicious. My 10 year old daughter was so excited to have more than just 1 option to order from. We were camping near by and made 2 visits just because it made her feel special and cared for. My daughter said, “Mommy, Sandy is a really special lady. I just love her!” We will definitely go back next year when we camp and spread the word!!

This is the safest I have felt eating out! The owner came and talked to me as soon as the server told her I have celiac disease. They handed me a folder with all the allergens, explained everything on the menu I could and couldn’t eat, and showed me pictures of how the avoid cross contamination in the kitchen. In addition, the food was delicious and huge portions. Our server was super friendly and we had a great experience overall! I highly recommend!

Happy to echo what everyone else here has said, this place is wonderful for anyone with allergies. I said I have a gluten allergy, which generally gives me great anxiety as I receive a concerned stare in response, but the waitress was immediately able to tell me all the options I had for food and substitutions. Shortly after, the owner came to our table and gave me a more in depth explanation of the safety procedures in the restaurant for allergies, which includes staff training, and completely separate cooking utensils and dishes. She was super friendly, as was the rest of the staff we interacted with! The food itself was delicious! There are options food gluten free pizza, pitas, pasta and bread, as well as multiple gluten free desserts. My non-gluten-free parents and I shared the GF-Lost Lake Flatbread, and they enjoyed it just as much as I did, which is rare. I will definitely be coming back here!

I was left speechless by the amount of menu options and cross contamination procedures that Alcona Brew Haus offered me. The owner, Sandy, is the kindest lady you’ll ever meet and is so knowledgeable about all types of different allergies. She took the time to go through the menu with us personally and showed us pictures of the kitchen and the cross contamination procedures she had in place. She shared her own personal story about dealing with allergies, and shared that her kids all struggle with severe allergies. It felt like a home away from home, and as a celiac, that’s not something I find very often. Oh, did I mention she also has all staff members go through a allergy training course before starting work? So if you don’t get the chance to meet Mrs. Sandy, her team of trained staff will have your back. This place is a treasure!!!

I have eaten here a handful of times and cannot say enough about the wonderful experience every time. The owner is tremendous and sits with you to explain the menu options. Much of the menu can be made gf. The food is also tremendous. The preparations are very safe. You can also get gf beers from Brewery Nyx.

My parents live in the area and told me that the next time I came in to visit, I had to try Alcona Brew Haus. My parents were thrilled that their celiac daughter (me) could have a restaurant experience that was safe from gluten/wheat! I’ve only been diagnosed for just over a year, but going out to eat still causes a lot of anxiety for me. I react poorly very quickly and am miserable for days once exposed.

Initially, I commented on a FB post from Alcona Brew Haus saying I was stopping by and that I was an excited celiac ready to try this allergen friendly restaurant! The owner (Sandy) responded quickly and went above and beyond to help me understand the menu/processes. Normally, she would come to the table to chat with you, but she was not going to be there on the day we were planning our visit.

When I say above and beyond, she circled menu items, explained their allergen handling process, AND shared her passion for creating a safe space for those with food allergies to enjoy their meals. All I had to do was tell our server that I had celiac disease and they knew what to do! Logan, our server, also went above and beyond. He was so kind and reassuring and was overall outstanding.

Food wise: I got the breakfast BLT on the Udi’s white bread, the wedge salad with Sandy’s dressing, and the mimosa flight. I am so full on amazing allergen/gluten-free food and incredible service. This place is an ABSOLUTE MUST for those who have food allergies and of course those without. I cannot wait to come back!

Alcona Brew Haus’ owner goes above and beyond to ensure that allergy-specific meals are carefully made separately. She walked us through her process for ensuring gluten-free preparation with a whole set of color-coded equipment, pans, etc.

The GF options are numerous and include really delicious pizza, burgers (with GF bun), cider, mead, and at least 1 GF dessert option at all times as well.

They pay very close attention to cross-contamination and I felt very safe eating here. The hard cider was delicious and had a wonderful aftertaste. I have Celiac disease, and the owner walked me through my options and their safety precautions. My macaroni and cheese with blackened chicken breast was delicious. It was nice to have this as an option. My husband, who can eat gluten, had a pizza and said it was tastier and higher-quality than the typical pizza you’d get at a pizza delivery place.

Highly recommend this place, and next time we’re in town, we’ll go back.

It was AMAZING!! I felt so special my entire visit!! Sandy (the owner) and Tony (waiter) were AWESOME they knew all about celiac and were so helpful. They have an allergy menu to use while you read the main menu. They also have GF substitutions for many of their meals. I ordered the Smothered Chicken. The waitress was knowledgeable about celiac and my food came on a purple plate. When I asked about the plate she said it was to remind everyone that this was an allergy order. I felt confident in eating there. The only thing they didn’t have was a dedicated fryer, but that’s not uncommon.

Spoke with the owner who has children with food allergies. She was passionate about having a safe option for everyone. They are careful with cross contamination and use different colored plates for allergies. Went here while on vacation with a party of 14 and we had great service & fresh food! The GF Cider & Mead are top notch too!

The owner came out to talk to me and went over the entire menu and all their options! She has children with severe food allergies and is very aware of cross contamination issues. They use separate cooking utensils and the serving plate is colored different to signify an allergy. I ordered the Lincoln Panini and it was absolutely delicious! They also offer GF cider and meads.

They are willing to go the extra mile for allergies. Extra kitchen training, dedicated dishes/utensils, gluten free options from top to bottom of menu. I ordered the chicken sandwich and whitefish dip; did not get sick!
