We love 5 Tacos and Beer! They have been really great. We eat there often with my celiac kid and have ordered food for parties too. They were even able to accommodate some additional food allergies to dairy for a party we hosted. My kid has never gotten sick and we all love the food.
Everything on their menu is gluten free except for the kids quesadillas (flour tortillas) and the churros.

We had a delicious gluten free lunch here! The server reassured us that everything on the menu is gluten free except for the churros and some of the beer (they do have gluten free beer, too). The corn tortilla chips and floutas (made with corn tortillas) are the only things fried in one of their fryers. The churros are fried separately in different oil. We felt like it was a safe place, but I do want to say that my daughter has silent celiac, so she doesn’t really ever have symptoms. The food was really good!

*edit* they are no longer gluten free.
Delicious.
The kitchen is gluten free so we were able to eat without worry. Plenty of meat free and vegan options.

Definitely got glutened. The server told me that there was a separate fryer for the chips (I asked 2 people) and I had 2 tacos.

I would not recommend this place. The server had no idea whether the chips were safe or which items were gluten free. Which was confusing to me considering other reviews. Not only that, but the restaurant was empty and it took them 10 minutes to say anything to us and almost ever free table had garbage and old food on it.

Great tacos, lots of gluten free options. But, their chips are NOT safe they are fried in the same oil as churros. Just make sure to say you have an allergy

There seems to be conflicting information on whether Five Tacos is celiac friendly. Some of the reviews here mentioned that all the food is gluten free while others have pointed out that the churro and fried fish are not. Even a recent Berkeleyside article states “ Every dish is gluten free except for two of its five desserts. (Those two dishes are prepared in a separate fryer to avoid cross-contamination.)”
In my experience, I double checked with the server on what was gluten free and not. She said that all of the food was, except for the desserts she pointed out (churro). However, when I asked whether the tortilla chips were fried separately from the churro, she attempted to make a distinction that they were fried in different baskets but since they used the same oil there was likely cross contamination. I’m not sure what to believe given the range of different information. The tacos are great though.

I’ve eaten here 5 times now and have m never gotten sick. Most of the menu is gluten free with little risk of contamination. The only thing you need to be aware of is when they have battered fish on the menu because they use beer and the fryer that day nay be contaminated. Other than that most days their fryer is completely gluten free. Even their churros are gluten free!! Not all their drinks are gluten free.
They have great customer service and are super attentive!
