Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
I informed them of our gluten allergy and they looked a little confused. He asked if I wanted him to change gloves. I said yes, and the utensils, please. They looked a little annoyed at changing the utensils and they did not wipe anything down. They seemed young and maybe not trained in what to do for a food allergy.
Fantastic experience for Celiacs! This amazing team including Pearson and Kaitlynn, changed all the spoons, changed all the cold food, wiped down the counter, and washed hands & changed gloves for us before preparing our food. This team really understood the needs of celiacs, and did everything they could to avoid cross-contamination to provide the best experience. The food was delicious and fresh. The best chipotle experience we have had in years.
Chipotle is one of my go to’s when traveling due to the limited gluten. They had set some tortillas in the top bowl and I asked for a different one since they weren’t gluten free. They instantly went to change their gloves, get me a bowl from lower on the stack and spread the word down to change gloves and be careful which is always a great sign for those with allergies and restrictions. Overall the Chipotle was meh though. It tasted like they forgot the seasoning in their meat and beans. The service was slow for everyone, not just me with the allergy restrictions. There was a girl working with 3 guys and she was basically running the show. If she was gone for a bit they just stood around looking at each other until she came and gave them direction. The bathrooms were in need of major TLC. The faucet in the women’s restroom was lose and sideways. However, as far as Celiac’s goes. I did not get sick.
Chipotle is very scary to a celiac at first because there is risk of cross contamination, but every one that i’ve been too has always been willing to change their gloves and get new ingredients for my bowl! There is a list of all their items that do not contain gluten online!! And their chips are corn tortillas!! Always the best!!!
I always recommend going early to minimize risk of cross contamination (cheese often falls into the salsa and guacamole at all locations, for instance.)
Food is tasty. The new chicken with a special sauce is not gluten free. Get plain chicken or meat.
The few times I've eaten here the food was just awful.
I got seriously sick after eating here and am writing this review while recovering from sickness. It's unfortunate because the staff was wonderful and took great precautions with my intolerance and even took stuff from the back to limit cross contamination. Will probably not be coming back to this location.
DONT GO HERE!!! These people are idiots. They don't have any idea what gluten free is. Only the manager knew what gluten free was. Pooly trained people .The guy that handled my bowl had an attitude. He was slamming my bowl on the counter along with the containers of cheese and lettuce. The one guy cooking rice said "contaminate her food" in Spanish. Everyone was rude. The food counters were dirty. DONT GO HERE!!
We went here for the first time, and we were expecting the same chipotle gluten free experience, but I was shocked when I told them that I have celiac, and they asked me which toppings I wanted, they changed the container of food, the spoon in it, and they all changed their gloves. They were great, and I recommend going to this location if you are near and want Chipotle.
I’ve eaten here a few times, but I’m not sure what happened maybe last time my stuff got cross contaminated because I got sooo sick and now I’m scared to eat here again. The only thing you can eat here is bowls but make sure they change gloves and use food from back if you’re as sensitive as I am.
I liked it. It was so chipotle. Mexican chain food.
We have been to many Chipotle restaurants around the country and I always feel like I'm holding up the line when I order gf. In this one the girl that served didn't hesitate when I said allergy ( I know it'snot an allergy, but that gets the point across). She immediately washed her hands and changed her gloves. She asked if I wanted her to take it down the line (I did) and she just moved it right along! No hold up what-so-ever! I wish all Chipotle's moved that smoothly with gf. 90-95% of the time it's pretty easy. The rest of the time I get the deer in the headlights look. Then I just ask for someone that's dealt with allergies. Again though, this one on Dale Mabry Blvd was great!
This is my go to chipotle for the Stafford area I have been diagnosed with celiac for over a year now this is the only chipotle I go to in Stafford the managers take it very seriously I even talked to one of the managers and she even said she remembers all the people that come in with an allergy the staff knows what they are doing there is always manger who knows the right protocol even when they have new staff I have ate here over 20+ times and have had no issue they have always grabbed stuff from the back and made sure they wash hands and change utensils I have become a regular at this chipotle at this point😂
I arrived early to pick up an online order clearly labeled for celiac. I even asked the employee to be mindful of cross contamination with our order. I watched him cross contaminate our bowls and use the contaminated cheese/lettuce. He attempted to remake it when I explained the issue a second time and then still use the contaminated cheese/lettuce. Be cautious if you online order and keep an eye on the prep line!
Came here before going to a game at Sofi. Always concerned with fast food chains and cross contamination even when the food is almost all gluten free (only the flour tortillas have gluten according to Chipotle's website).
We let the staff know that I have a severe gluten allergy and asked if they could prepare something separately for me. They were more than happy to help, with one of the team washing her hands and changing gloves before picking a new burrito bowl out of brand new packet. We saw that they were cooking a fresh batch of chicken and we asked if it would be OK to have which they were more than happy to do including cutting on a fresh chopping board. All rice and other additions were taken from new tubs in the fridge with fresh utensils, and the whole meal was prepared in the back kitchen away from the main line.
It was absolutely delicious and had zero problems!
EDIT: the last time I ate here I got incredibly ill. Unfortunately not sure if we’re returning.
EDIT 2: The last few times I went here I was fine. Its better to come at not so busy times. I ask staff to change their gloves.
Been here and never had a problem. Everything is gluten free besides the tortillas I believe. Bowls are very safe and tasty.
I had the best gluten free (celiac) dining experience! I was incredibly impressed with the staff taking care of my food allergies for gluten and dairy. The lady switched gloves and grabbed all fresh ingredients that were safe for me. She did not make me feel like I was holding up the line or causing any inconvenience - so grateful for them! Will definitely be back!
Had a really disappointing experience. Got a lot of attitude when asking staff to change gloves and wash hands, even mentioned it was a celiac allergy. They wouldn’t change spoons. They were not careful, even touched a flour tortilla then looked to see if I was watching, I asked to get new gloves again after that. They were making a burrito right after our rice bowls and they were going back and forth sharing spoons. I wish I would have just left in the beginning when they didn’t seem to understand proper allergy protocol. We didn’t end up eating the food, it didn’t feel safe.
Same experience as the other reviews. When I told them we had gluten allergies (celiac) they replaced all the spoons, changed gloves, wiped down the counter and provided a fresh batch of guacamole for our meal. One of the best responses and actions taken from a chain restaurant. Was very pleasant to deal with as well. Great job all around!!
Happy to have no issues with the Chipotle location. If you’re buzzing up to Door County, it’s not too far off the highway to get this fast food. The (possible) manager took care of prepping my bowl off to the side during a busy afternoon. I’m a sensitive celiac and had no problems.
