Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.
From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."
I appreciate their variety of gluten free options. My daughter complains about the beans being spicy but she’s just a picky eater overall. She does enjoy the rice, queso, chicken, chips, etc. I like that I can get her a full kids meal here.

A manger is celiac and makes an effort however there is a lot of cross contamination and any type of veggie will have gluten contamination because the quesadillas are cut on the same cutting boards all veggies are cut on with minimal sanitizing and no discretion of which one is veggies only

Yikes. I've seen some Chipotle's that are fairly safe but today was not it. The server knew what cross contamination was, and she changed gloves, washed her hands, wiped down the counter, but while she was wiping everything down crumbs were falling back into the bins, and I was watching them serve before hand and the ladles would brush right against the tortillas before going back into the containers. It was probably right after the rush too. Didn't even bother ordering because I knew I'd be sick.

Not celiac level gluten free friendly, unable to get food from the back and don’t really understand cross contamination!

They were not willing to use food from the back after we watched them cross contaminate and advised we are celiacs.

No one knew what gf was. No separate ingredients (as I’m use to in NY). Walked out empty handed because I did not feel safe at all.
UPDATE: went back almost exactly one year later (March 10th, 2024), and was told that all of their food was already put out and that they could not get anything from the back. They weren't super friendly at all, but we were hungry and we weren't aware of very many gluten free options in that area, and given the fact we had eaten there safely before, we went ahead and ordered.
They did change their gloves, but it didn't do much when after we ate we saw them touching the gluten filled tortillas and then touching the meat, cheese, toppings, etc.
They also told us that they could not go get clean utensils from the back, that all they had was put out.
I personally couldn't understand how at 2pm all of their food was put out when they close at 10pm.
My mom (symptomatic celiac) ended up having a cross contamination reaction later that night. I personally had some mild fatigue and brain fog.

Super friendly!
Manager prepared our order and got all but the meat from the back! Super yummy, too!

Chipotle always handles allergies with care. They change their gloves, opened new prepped containers of toppings and so nice when doing so. Chipotle is old faithful. For this I am grateful.

I have had celiac for 7 years and have only been eating out for a couple years now. I was blown away by how amazing the service was at this establishment. Two young men filled my order. They both took off their gloves without being asked and attempted to wash their hands (even though there was a long line behind me). I politely stopped them and said changing their gloves was sufficient. Then one of them went to the back and came out with fresh bins of lettuce and cheese to finish my order. I was highly impressed by how knowledgeable they were about cross contamination and the steps they took to keep me safe. I inquired about a tip jar and they said they are not allowed to take tips. When they handed me the food I threw ten dollars down anyway. By far, the best experience I've had getting take out!!!

They were very accommodating! They asked if I needed them to change utensils/gloves or wipe counter tops. And I had no reactions! Very happy with their service! I am gluten free, dairy free, nut free, corn free, etc. i am recently diagnosed celiac and am sensitive to cross contamination.

I ate here and got a slight bit cross contaminated even though the same person who changed their gloves for me did my order. I did however also receive an attitude about asking for such. I may or may not try this place again. It's a really busy spot so overall it's not a safe Chipotle.

Ordered a bowl and told them straight away- for someone with Celiac. The employee was new, I think, but he changed his gloves and washed his hands thoroughly in front of me and then asked for help. The girl came over and asked him if he knew what to do for Celiac. He said no, but she told him to remove and replace all spoons for the order and she thoroughly cleaned down the counter before the bowl was prepped. They also got fresh lettuce from the back. I was very impressed overall with the protocol at essentially a fast food place.

We went in for lunch and as we were ordering, we asked if the chicken was gluten free. The lady seemed like she had never heard of gluten before. She checked the chart and came back and said that none of the meat was gluten free (even though all are listed as gf online.) We decided just to leave since the friend I was with is severely allergic to wheat. lol maybe other workers are more knowledgeable?

Staff are helpful regarding celiac and though they changed gloves AND went into the cooler to use fresh cheese not on the production line, I still got cross-contaminated somehow. I steer clear now of any of these style quick, fresh, food places - without an entirely separate area and ingredients, they just can't ensure no gluten contamination.

First thing I noticed when I walked in the door was how much cross contamination there was. Each worker touched the food with their gloves as they spooned it into my bowl. Didn’t end up eating it because I knew I would get sick. Hate to leave a bad rating for the whole store because probably just depends on the worker. I have eaten at many chipotles without any issues. Something to be careful about!

The vibe in here is insane. The food is fine but everyone working here has either never been to a Chipotle or hates you for being there. That’s par for the course at a college town chipotle though

Delicious! None of the tortillas are GF so you do have to get a bowl but I don't mind at all. When you tell them it's for an allergy/celiac they will wash hands, change gloves and replace ALL utensils. They take good precaution with your food and with a smile :)

I had an amazing experience at this new Chipotle, safety-wise. I said I had an allergy and the employees instantly stopped making all other orders and wiped down the entire countertop, and the one making my order changed gloves. They also got out new spoons / bins of ingredients. Even the person who checked me out at the register washed his hands before touching just the outside of my bowl. This was all unprompted!
I plan to keep returning if this is the sort of service I continue to get. I’ve had (and heard about) iffy experiences at some other locations but this one clearly takes allergies seriously.
3/2/24: just wanted to update that I since went again in person and had another AMAZING experience. My partner has also mobile ordered food with my order under the name “GLUTEN ALLERGY” and I haven’t gotten sick (sensitive to CC). Awesome work by this location!

I love this location so much. You tell them they have a gluten allergy and they immediately change their gloves, ask if you want lettuce or cheese and will get fresh ones from the back if you do. They get it and they make it so easy! We’ve never had them change spoons but they will if you ask! I always try to tell the manager how awesome the staff is with gluten allergies.

Food was typical for Chipotle. Had burrito bowl. When I said wheat allergy the server washed her hands and put on clean gloves. I have celiac but some people don't understand what that is but they do understand allergies.
Always a risk of cross contamination but I felt it was safe enough and didn't get sick.

EDIT 2: The last few times I went here I was fine. Its bettee to come at not so busy times. I ask staff to change their gloves.
Been here with my celiac partner and never had a problem. Everything is gluten free besides the tortillas I believe. Bowls are very safe and tasty.

I love Chipotle but this particular location is terrible ! I have been here multiple times in the past and the workers seem to have no knowledge about celiac disease. The place isn’t that clean either. One of the staff members rolled his eyes at me when I asked him to change his gloves and wash his hands because I have celiac. I love their food and they are usually so careful about cross contamination but this location is not the best .

As a reactive celiac person I’ve gotten sick here multiple times. If you are sensitive to cross contamination I’d stay away.
Update: I came here last night for my kids and watched the server put the wrong rice on a tortilla and then correct it by scraping the rice back into the rice container. Next level cross contamination.

Staff was very thorough with preventing cross contamination including changing gloves, changing utensils and starting over if something went wrong in the process. It was to the point I felt bad and apologized to which they assured me that it was proper procedure and they were willing to go the extra mile to ensure my experience at chipotle was a good and safe one.

Not recommended for anyone that is gluten free. Was yelled at by the manager after asking them not to bring a flour tortilla order down the line after her staff cleaned the line. She followed up with saying we know who you are. Referring that we are the people that come in that are gluten free. Go to the Novi location, they are friendly and will follow the correct procedures.

This was our first attempt at eating out since my son's celiac diagnosis. He was very nervous, but we had heard that Chipotle does an excellent job with trying to limit cross contamination. We informed them that we had a gluten allergy and asked they change gloves. He asked if we would also like to change untesils. He took off his gloves, took out all the old utensils, wiped down the counters, replaced all the utensils, washed his hands, and put on new gloves. I'm sure this will be our new go-to restaurant because they were so accommodating!

I’ve been here a couple of times without getting sick. Just have to get a bowl and can’t have any items they use there hands to get, like the cheese because even if they change gloves it’s already been cc unless I guess your lucky and get a fresh non touched tub.
I had to get a burrito bowl with chicken because I knew those ingredients were safe. They were in a rush so I didn't get much extra info from them for gluten free. What I got was safe and I didn't react.

I asked staff to get food from the back because the spoons touch the tortillas and go back in the bin and they said they don’t have food in the back even though it was 5:30 and they closed in a couple hours so they definitely had more food. they did offer to wash their hands but i didn’t eat there and i watched as they refilled the guac from the back.

Was extremely glutened here. Informed workers that I had celiac disease and needed them to take precautions. First 3 workers had no idea what I was talking about. Finally another worker came over and said she knew what to do. She proceeded to change her gloves. I then asked her to change the utensil she would use. I got the eyerolls and no response. Then she got a new utensil. Normally I would ask for my burrito bowl to be made from ingredients not out on the line as I do at my old hometown Chipotle, but I was tired, sick and had a long drive ahead of me. So about 3 hours into my drive I was hit with severe explosive diarrhea and had to continue my trip with stops at every restroom along the way. One week later and I'm still having loose stools and abdominal discomfort. First time in 12 years for this to happen. Do not chance it!!!!!!

I LOVE Chipotle for gluten free. It is the main place I go now in Plattsburgh if I don’t want to have cross contamination or an allergic reaction. This is your typical Chipotle location all of which appears to have very few gluten items on the menu, namely the soft tortillas and by one report maybe the queso. Some people suggest calling the location to suggest changing gloves to avoid cross contamination on your order. Do a Google search on Chipotle and gluten to get additional tips.
Also see the allergies page on the chipotle website: https://www.chipotle.com/allergens
Grubhub and others provide delivery. One can use the chipotle app to order ahead and pick up.

We have eaten at this location pretty much every week since my son’s diagnosis last summer and his TTG levels keep going down. Staff will change gloves when asked. We avoid the chips based on Chipotle’s web site statement about possible corn cross contamination with other grains, in conjunction with our dietician’s advice.
