Gluten Free at Chipotle

Chipotle does not have a gluten free menu but instead has a list of gluten-containing ingredients to avoid. Cross-contamination is a concern, however, so let the person taking your order know that you are gluten free and if you need them to take the proper precautions.

From their website: "If you avoid gluten, don't eat our flour tortillas. If you are highly sensitive to gluten and would like us to change our gloves, just let us know at the start of your order. You should be aware items containing corn, including corn tortillas (chips, soft corn, and crispy corn tortillas) and corn salsa, may have a small amount of gluten from potentially co-mingling with gluten-containing grains in the field."

I am newly diagnosed celiac and I went here for lunch. I was very impressed with the staff when I told them that I was celiac with a gluten allergy. The girl went and removed her gloves and announced my gluten allergy to others. She washed her hands thoroughly and then made my bowl all the way through the line. She made sure to take out fresh, not touched ingredients from the fridge. I will go back!

Staff was wonderful! He wiped down the counter, washed his hands, put on gloves and got a fresh container for the items that they use their hands to serve (cheese and lettuce). They are definitely celiac friendly.

Best fast-food around. I'm very sensitive to gluten, it flares my arthritis if I get even a trace, but the burrito bowls work for me. What I found here is that it's best to skip the lettuce. The same person who is scooping the lettuce is also at the end wrapping the flour shells of the burritos or heating the flour tortillas at the beginning of the line near the salad lettuce. I believe it transfers from their gloves and contaminates the lettuce. It may not be an issue for everyone, but it's hit-or-miss with me so I just skip the lettuce. I have had some very nice employees put on new gloves and chop me fresh lettuce, which is very cool, but as busy as most of these chains are when I go, it may make you a bit of an annoyance to ask for every time.

Great food! Educated staff. Need to mention “Gluten Allergy”. They will change gloves, serving utensils, separate lettuce, cheese containers. The bowls & tacos are delicious. Been going here awhile & my son has never gotten sick.

I’ve stopped eating at Chipotle because I always end up sick and regretting it. They change gloves upon request but the ingredients are already contaminated so the glove change probably doesn’t do much

My daughter has a severe wheat allergy. Staff was very knowledgeable. They changed gloves and used new utensils to make sure there was no cross-contamination. We’ve been back multiple times and she has never had a reaction. Very pleased.

Staff are trained to wash hands and change gloves when someone announces a wheat allergy or Celiac. The only item that the chain carries containing wheat is the tortilla. Everything else is gluten free.

I asked about gluten free preparation and the staff just looked at me like I was crazy. They had no idea what to do. I have been to other Chipotle grills where the staff was great. This one is obviously under poor management

They didn’t seem at all knowledgeable about gluten. They washed their hands and changed their gloves, then handled tortillas right afterward. I did ask him to change gloves again and he complied. The other one washed and changed gloves after my order was already made. They used the same cheese and I crossed my fingers, but I got glutened, a pain, but when you don’t prepare your own food, it happens.

Good fast food option with healthy versions of gluten Free available. I can eat here without having a celiac option, as long as I don’t order the corn salsa, which they say is gluten free.

The staff here didn’t miss a beat. Without asking they wiped down all the work surfaces, informed me that all options excepting the soft tortillas were gluten-free. They took cheese and lettuce from a fresh bin and changed all gloves before helping. Great service, conscientious employees and wonderful experience.

I’ve been here several times since I was diagnosed and haven’t gotten sick. I am sure to tell them I have a wheat allergy when I first come in (there was some confusion when I used the word “celiac”) and they change their gloves immediately. They normally pass your food down the line to the next person if you don’t have an allergy, but when I tell them GF the same person with clean gloves is the only one that handles my food. I live for the burrito bowls.

Their premade crispy corn tacos avoids the problem of cross contamination with the wheat tacos. Everything else in the place is gluten free. Had 3 pork tacos with everything and a bag of chips and loved it. Directly across the street to the east of exposition park so great for lunch when going to the museums.

The food is good and most everything except the flour tortillas are gluten free. I told the woman that I was gluten free. She took her gloves off and washed her hands and put new gloves on. The food is really yummy. I had a salad with chicken.

This is the first restaurant I attempted to go to after my celiac diagnosis. They were amazing! Right away the lady took off her gloves, washed her hands, asked if I wanted new ladles, brought out fresh lettuce and she was the only one who handled my food the whole time. They made me feel human again.

I love lunch on the go with Chipotle and have been eating at this location for a few years. I always stick with a salad or bowl. Stay away from the two items that workers put their gloved hands in: shredded cheese and lettuce. The lettuce for salads they seem to use tongs. Not so much at the end of the assembly line. I’ve never even asked them to change gloves and following the no cheese/no shredded lettuce rule has been enough to keep me from getting sick.

The staff was very accommodating to my being gluten sensitive. Not only did she change her gloves, she switched out the utensils for the toppings and pulled out a brand new container of cheese. She did it with a smile and was very understanding. I didn’t feel uncomfortable or weird in the least. The staff is also very friendly. Will return!

When I told the worker I was celiac he automatically changed his gloves and all the serving scoops. And did it with a smile! When I apologized for the hassle, they kindly replied “we know it’s not your choice to be celiac.” Plus, everything on the menu except the flour tortillas is gf. Hallelujah for this place!

It really depends on how adamant you are about needing them to A) change gloves B) wipe down counters C) use different utensils for your food (has touched gluten shell when laying food down) D) making sure they give you the fresh options from the back versus the front Best of luck!

Newly diagnosed, this is one of the first times I ventured outside my kitchen after being glutened at other restaurants. I was surprised at how quickly they took off their gloves and washed their hands when I mentioned a gluten allergy. They even took out fresh pans of lettuce and cheese for me and switched the utensils. I was a bit embarrassed to cause such a fuss (newly diagnosed), but also very grateful for their care. I almost cried. And, more importantly, I didn't get sick.
