I am visiting and found that Jersey Mike’s has GF bread and prepares in a dedicated GF area with its own toppings separate from the regular sandwich area. They also have GF chips and a GF cookie by Udis to get with a drink if you want the meal.
They were all very knowledgeable as I did call first and then when I came into the store I asked again.
No issues and am hopeful that this is the same with all of their locations!
Completely misled. What a waste. Asked for gluten free and the employees changed their gloves like they knew what gluten free meant. I ordered the Philly cheese steak so all the I ingredients would be in the grill and I wouldn’t take the lettuce, tomato, etc, which I knew was contaminated. While my meat was cooking the employee took another person’s gluten bread and started cooking it in the grill next to my meat. They said they always do this! So nothing here is gluten free or safe for celiacs except the bread. Such a disappointment!!
I was very impressed with there service. They were are super nice and knowledgeable. They cleaned the machines and wiped everything down before preparing my sandwich. They use a tray and a sandwich wrapper to make my sandwich on. The sandwich was yummy and I haven’t had one since being diagnosed with celiac. The only thing I was worried about what the veggies . They use the ones they use for everything. So far so good though
Jersey mikes is the only sub place I will go since my Celiac diagnosis. It’s a line order so you can watch as they make your food. They have a gluten free roll (that comes separately package, you watch them open) you and for and they will confirm whether it is preference or allergen. Allergen they will clean the full station and keep your food separate. I love that I know this is a chain restaurant that is serious about the gf safe. I feel good about going to any location!
It’s hard to completely eliminate cross contamination in any restaurant that you walk into, but Jersey Mikes did a great job. When I told them that I had a gluten allergy they took several precautions right away. They cleaned the counter, replaced the cutting board, got new utensils, washed their hands, and changed gloves. They have packaged gluten free buns. They also have prepackaged gluten free sweet treats. I enjoyed my food and have had no reactions.
They cut my sub with the same knife as the regular ones and then put it on the counter with the regular ones. I didn't eat it. Do not trust.
I agree with the other positive reviews. Each time I’ve eaten here, they treat my order with the care others have described.
Felt comfortable getting my daughter a sandwich here. They changed their gloves and had gluten free rolls and dedicated gluten free area and condiments
I have eaten here in the past with no problems. The past two times the I tried to eat here, the shop was busy and they were using their gluten free station to make regular sandwiches. I have celiac and cannot take the risk, even if they were to wipe the station before making my food. I will not eat here again.
this is a decent sandwich place and they are well-trained, but I would not recommend going during lunch/dinner rush as they wipe EVERYTHING down when you make an allergy order. I usually go at slow times and get a tuna sandwich, meaning they don’t use the meat slicer, which is a possible point of CC (even though they wipe this down too). This is a chain, and a sandwich one at that, so go at your own risk.
The bread is Udi’s, and they also have an Udi’s chocolate chip cookie. I’m a big fan of their root beer.
I went with my husband who is not gluten sensitive. I told them I had an allergy and they had an employee they asked to make mine. He washed his hands and then proceeded to make my sandwich in separate station from regular orders that had all the veggies and meats without having to go to the regular line. They sanitized the counter by the register and then wrapped mine before another. I had zero reaction and so appreciated the precautions taken to enjoy a sub with my husband on our lunch date.
I ordered a cold sub because the shared area for heated subs seemed like an extra risk. They switched gloves and used a disposable sheet to separate the gf sub from the counter, but I still got sick.
I’ve been here multiple times and never got glutened. The staff always makes me safe and takes precautions. It’s always nice to have a hoagie when I’m in a pinch, highly recommend!
Wonderful staff and manager. Great Subs.
Stopped by on way through town and was pleased that the girl taking orders made sure that gloves were changed and counters wiped down prior to starting to make my sandwich.
So nice that they ask upfront if it’s an allergy. Food is kept separate, they change their gloves and looks like they are using a separate grill for our subs!
Have eaten here twice without issue and I am a pretty sensitive Celiac. Many GF options including chips and Udis cookies. Bread is very good
They changed their gloves and wiped down the equipment when I ordered a gluten free sub. They also kept my sandwich on a separate tray with a separate knife to cut it. Pre-packaged Udi’s cookies are available for sale as well. I didn’t have any issues and would eat here again.
Pros
- will let all the workers know they’re working with an allergy order
- will clean surfaces, gloves, use separate knives
- staff seems knowledgable: recommended I use the mayo packets since the mayo was contaminated
I so appreciated their willingness to accommodate me even with such a long line!
I wanted to eat here so badly but they grill their bread on the same grill they cook the cheesesteaks. There were crumbs everywhere!
Gluten free advertisement on the window! Fresh workspace, new gloves and new ingredients from the back! Haven’t eaten yet but feel super safe based on precautions made available by staff!
Another Jersey Mikes that are consistently safe for me.
I was IMPRESSED when I went in! They wiped the meat cutting machine down with soap & water, wiped all of the counters off, used a new, clean, & lined tray. However, I have gotten sick there both of the past 2 times I’ve been recently, I’m SUPER sad, I loved this place!
They used clean prep space and were willing to accommodate, but they started to use lettuce from the general bowl and we had to ask them to remake the sub. They were willing to do so. I would eat here again, but use caution and you might need to guide them through with specific details.
I went in a little over a month ago. I walked in and saw regular bread on the back counter where they prepare the gluten free subs. It was so busy so I just left because I didn’t feel comfortable. I’m not sure if it was just a weird day, but normally I feel comfortable and safe here, and I haven’t been back.
Always a safe choice for me when I’m on the road and need a quick meal
I appreciate that they will change gloves, clean counters, and prep in a separate area. The protocols with one person prepping the GF order and using squeeze condiments are appreciated. I understand that a fast food chain is always a risk, but this location specifically has fed me well without getting me sick many times.
The staff were excellent and knowledgeable. They wiped everything down and changed gloves to make my sandwich. I don’t love the Udi’s brand GF bread, but the rest of the sandwich was excellent.
I was absolutely shocked by this store in the worst way. This store was a clown show. I remind them it's for an allergy, guy says yeah, and I say "then change your gloves". He seems annoyed, but I simply want a sandwich that won't make my intestines bleed. Several times the gf bread touched the regular bread, which again I had to point out (to his annoyance). There were crumbs everywhere, and I had to remind them AGAIN that you can'tuse the regular mayo, it has been contaminated!! Why do I have to be the one to remind him, when he should have the training to do this??? I thought JM was GF friendly, but I guess not.
Udi’s baguettes for GF. They change gloves and wipe everything down, change knives.
Not a great experience. Had to guide the employee. When I asked them to wipe down the surface where all the other rolls were cut, they pulled out a bucket of water and a used rag (which likely had been sitting in the water with the breadcrumbs all day…). Asked her to change gloves again before making my sandwich. If you’re intolerant it’s probably okay, but otherwise maybe look for someplace else.
We have eaten here several times as very sensitive celiacs and have never been sick. Always a trusted meal experience. We watch them prepare our meal the whole time and have never been concerned about safe handling with both cold cut sandwiches or hot cheesesteaks! Grateful for an establishment that offers high quality gluten free sandwiches!
Great gluten free set up! They have a separate slicer, a dedicated gluten free counter, they put your gluten free hoagie roll on parchment paper to keep it separate from the possible contamination, they use a clean knife, and all staff change their gloves before they handle your sandwich. Great experience!
