One of the two knew what had to be done (including get the mayonnaise from the squirt bottle) but were rude and I was very anxious and fully expected to get sick. Thankfully I didn't. They used two rags to wipe down the grinder but each rag was so full of crumbs and they just didn't seem to care and got mad when I asked them about cleaning things. The udis bun was pretty good. The bacon is crunchy like broken glass (here and the Alpine location). Otherwise the meat and cheese are fresh.

Staff was so friendly about Celiac/gluten allergy. They make the sandwiches in a separate area with changed gloves and do their best to take deli meat from new containers.

The bread tasted so good and was fluffy and all the things! I got a hot sandwich and they prepared it in a separate, designated area

Was blown away as to the extent they went to insure there was no cross contamination Cleaned the whole area changed gloves and made sure the bread never touched anything. Had a separate knife to cut the bread and everything. Very impressed Will eat there again.

We have never had a bad experience here. We have watched them change gloves, clean surfaces, and grab separate ingredients every time. The second we don’t experience that, we will let Mike know, as his daughter is a celiac. This place is safe. We eat here all the time.

Staff are well trained on cross contamination. Prep sandwiches in a separate dedicated area. Always a little nervous about the veggies though because they are taken from same bin as for other sandwiches but I always watch loke a hawk and ask them to pull veggies from back. Been here at least 10 times, no reactions and no CC.

I eat here about 1x month and haven’t had issues with cross contamination, but my god are they rude and disrespectful. They always act like it’s a damn imposition to order anything off the grill. Their attitude and the cleanliness of the restaurant are awful. Don’t think there’s a clean place that’s safe to sit down to eat. Oh and they’re going to close an hour early every night says the paper taped to the door.

Jersey Mikes is my go to when traveling - I have eaten at location in many states and they have all followed their process to minimize cross contamination. They have a poster in the wall if you look for it:
• separate location for making GF sandwiches
• change gloves
• cut fresh meat
• clean grill if you order a hot sandwich
• they have Udi’s sub bread
Key West location met all the same standards. Super quick service, asked if it was an allergy and then followed the process. Have never gotten sick after Jersey Mikes.
You can order any of the subs with UDi’s GF sub bread (it’s better then what we can by frozen in the grocery store, very soft), and you can even get a hot Philly cheese steak!!

I’ve heard Jersey Mikes is great with celiac so decided to give it a try. I told her from the start I had celiac so couldn’t have any cross contact and needed ingredients that wouldn’t have touched regular bread. She wiped the counters and the meat slicer down before starting my sandwich but then put it down at the regular toppings/ingredients counter. I asked if they had ingredients in the back and they said no. So I got a plain sandwich. Wish they would’ve told me they didn’t have that before when I told them what I needed.. then I’m pretty sure the guy proceeded to cut my sandwich in half with the same knife they use for everyone. Maybe it’s just this location but not a great experience. Didn’t feel understood.

We eat here regularly, it’s one of my Celiac daughter’s favorites. I specify that it’s a gluten allergy so they always use a specially marked knife and make sure that extra paper is used between the bread and any surface. Kid hasn’t gotten sick even once.

If you order take out, make sure you check your sandwich before you leave. Usually they get it right but it sucks to walk home and not be able to eat your lunch. :(
At least they have gf bread. Even if it crumbles everywhere.

Loved finding a sub shop where I could order bread instead of just a lettuce wrap! Made my day!
The staff has been trained well to ask if preference or allergy. If allergy, they clean work station, change gloves, and prepare some items from separate section. If you get mayonnaise or spreadable sauce- watch or ask for it not to be from the main line- or it will have more cross-contamination risk. I’m gluten-intolerant and have had no symptoms. Tasty Udi sub bread and cookie.

They have gluten free sub rolls by Udi’s brand. Regular and Giant options. $1.50 up-charge for regular & $3.00 up-charge for giant. This makes me so happy! Tasted great! They make sure to take proper precautions when making your sammy. I ordered the Buffalo chicken!

This was my first time, wanted to check out after seeing they had gf bread. It is Udis bread. Not great but okay. I got the club sub mikes way and the filling in the sub was fantastic! Overall rate 7/10, would be 10 if bread was slightly better. Also writing this review later after, did not get sick. They took reasonable cross contamination precautions. They knew they needed to wipe down surfaces to prepare sub, including slicer they use to fresh slice deli meat. Had to remind them to get toppings from untouched product in the back. Employees assisting were a little awkward and did make me feel like I was an inconvenience a little but were nice overall. Based on taste and not getting sick, would go back when I have a sub sandwich craving!

I'm celiac and have eaten here over ten times without any cross contamination. I do put in the notes when I'm ordering that I'm celiac and write off they could be careful (change gloves, not have any ingredient or knife touch any surface that bread has). They use a special knife that's color coded and make the sandwich on paper.

Wonderful experience here. Sometimes Jersey Mikes just wipes off the slicer that has normal bread on it and as a sensitive celiac that makes me nervous. Here, they had their own allergy station with its own slicer and condiments and changed their gloves. Felt very safe.

So the people seem to care but they NEED training. I was so happy I went in. I am very serious about CC with my daughter and watched the process after being assured they were careful. They do have a separate section it can be prepared so I felt ok…watched them do it. New gloves. But…the girl that told me she has celiac was the one putting the sandwiches together and was touching every piece of bread and putting those same hands in the veggies. Which I was ok with until they brought my daughters sandwich over to that same table and asked me what she wanted. I had to make them go get veggies from the back that I only hope to be clean. I explained to them since they definitely do not know that all of those veggies were CC. I sure hope that poor girl doesn’t eat there like that. They seemed a little confused by my very reasonable request. So enter at your own risk. I think it was fine but only because I babysat every aspect and DEFINATELY NEEDED TO.

Tried to order a gluten free sandwich. Told the worker it was for an allergy. They proceeded to pick up an already opened gluten free bun with the used gloves (after touching other bread 5 seconds before). The bun had also been sitting uncovered on a counter top with other not gluten free bread and he didn’t understand why that wouldn’t work for an allergy. He continued to make blatant mistakes with cross contamination and was not receptive when we tried to communicate that being an issue. Ultimately left without anything because we weren’t confident the food would actually be safe to eat. If you have celiac or an allergy don’t come here.

They are very celiac conscious. Every time I go in and ask for gluten-free bread, they always ask if it’s preference or allergy. Upon hearing it’s for an allergy, they clean all appliances they will be using, change gloves, and grab a clean knife from the back to use on the bread. They do not cross contaminate ingredients and wrap the sub in separate paper from the one they prepared it on to make sure there’s no chance of contamination from the outside of the paper when unwrapping it to eat.

They have a separate prep area for GF sandwiches. They were very careful preparing our GF sandwiches, one person washed hands, changed gloves and made our sandwiches from beginning to end. Just one person handling the process in the separate area made cc less possible. Any sandwich on the menu can be made GF.
