Great to be able to go out for a beer. Finished playing some squash and we wanted to grab a pint. It’s nice they have a GF option. It’s really good too.

My husband was recently diagnosed. 99 King was one of our favourite spots before, so when we saw a post that they had great GF options, we decided to try it last night. It was AMAZING. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and careful. They have a separate fryer for all fries - so no cross contamination. Their selection is HUGE. You can make most of their meals GF. And we tried the 2 GF desserts - Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Brownie. Best desserts ever - not just by GF standards. You’d never know they were GF - they were that good!! Thank goodness for restaurants like this. My husband will be going there regularly!

Food was excellent and good variety. I ordered the club. They offered a gluten free bun and fries from a dedicated fryer with it. Was very good and didn’t get sick at all.

I had a great experience eating at this restaurant. There are a lot of options but I ended up going with the pirogies and fries. They were both really delicious and the garlic aioli was 👌. I’ll try the chicken sandwich or chicken and waffles next time!

I will never return to this establishment.
Nothing to do with the food but the way the server was dismissive of an old man who came in late by himself. He was told to leave as they're closed but that was a lie. There were several still in the dining area including myself, my partner, and 3 people drinking at the bar.
Server tried to convince him to leave but he insisted.
He only asked for soup.
Server said, I can do soup to go.
While he waited, he paced the floor, hands shaking.
The server chatted with other patrons about how awesome it is to smoke weed and pass out until she saw me looking at the menu and asked if I'd like to order anything else. No, I wouldn't.
Finally, the man got his soup then asked what time they close. She told him 11.
It was 10:38 when he left. He said so, but she said we need to close early so the staff can leave on time. I wasn't asked to leave or wrap up, I was offered another chance to order, but this older man was in need of a hair wash and new shoes and to be treated with dignity.
Instead, the moment he left, the server and other patrons began to openly mock him saying, "oh there's 22 minutes left until closing but not for you!!! Byeee!!!
I find out later this "patron" who was laughing at the man with the server was in fact THE OWNER Colleen.
About herself, she said, "I know I'm going to hell!"
Further, she lied on a Google review saying this man ALWAYS comes in late to order soup and NEVER stays, but if thats true why would you need to insult and treat him so poorly when you could have just given him his USUAL order knowing full well you still had soup.

Had my 2nd visit in 2 weeks and I live over 2 hours away lol! This is delicious pub style food that is safe! They have a dedicated fryer so it’s such a treat to have stuff like a Buffalo chicken sandwich, pirogies, sweet potato fries, wings and so much more! They also have desserts! Can’t say enough good things!

Great little pub/restaurant in downtown Bowmanville with a nice patio. Lots of gluten free options. They even have a fried chicken sandwich made with a fresh chicken breast. Fresh cut fries were great. All fried GF items are done in a separate fryer. The GF stick toffee pudding was great. They have specials daily and live music on Friday evenings - Tom Hughes was great on May 19.

My Celiac son just ate at 99 King in Bowmanville today. He ate a burger and poutine without fear of cross contamination! Even my husband (who is not Celiac) had a GF bun, and he said it was delicious. So many GF items in the menu! Two of the chefs are Celiac, so they absolutely know what they are doing!

Thank you to the people who reviewed this spot! What a great find 😍 If you haven’t been, you need to. Pub style food with a dedicated fryer. The waitress was so helpful and the food was amazing. (Menu included in photos, the online menu doesn’t show the gf options and there are sooo many). Make sure you tell them when you’re ordering celiac/allergy because the kitchen will prep separately.

Many gluten free items clearly labeled on the menu. Waitress said they have separate prep area, separate pans and fryer. Everything is made fresh in house. Very yummy.

Great experience, the server on the phone was knowledgeable to what was gf/ what wasn’t. I originally asked for honey garlic wings and she said that was the only sauce that wasn’t- which was nice she knew.
We had the perogies, poutine and medium wings. They were SOOO good. Will definitely be going back!

The owner is very knowledgeable about celiac disease and the kitchen is super careful. They have a large selection of gluten free items, including nachos, chicken wings and fries (dedicated fryer), burgers and sandwiches (GF buns available), and some desserts. The GF items are clearly indicated on the menu in the pub; however, this is not shown on their website menu (hopefully they will update that). The food is great and the service is excellent. I will definitely be a repeat customer!
