They do have a wide variety of gluten-free items to purchase. I can not say if there is any cross contamination. The cost is reasonable from $12 and up. The gluten-free beer GREENS was very good. It didnt take long for the server to bring us our food. The server was pleasant. The parking lot can accommodate about twenty vehicles. You have to back out onto the street when you leave. They do not deliver and you can not order food on line. I do recommend this restaurant.
About Our Gluten Free Menu
We use a gluten free fryer and grill and select gluten free products. Our soy sauce for our marinades and stir-frys is gluten free and we use a special blend of gluten free flours and seasonings for our seafood breading. Our brownies are baked from scratch with cocoa and gluten free flour. And, two thirds of our menu is or can be prepared Gf!
We regret that we cannot guarantee
the possibility of cross-contamination.
If you're parking in a garage, leave it and walk to the restaurant. Parking is limited.
Went yesterday & the staff was very knowledgeable. Amber did an amazing job taking care of my fiancé & informing us what items were safe. The food was delicious & as a Beatles fan the ambiance is incredible. Would recommend to anyone seeking GF options while at the beach.
I ate here twice on a recent business trip. Friendly bar style atmosphere and 2/3 of the expansive menu is gluten free. “Gluten free” fryer is definitely gluten free. I’m celiac and get sick easily. Took my chances and ordered fried food on first night and had no sickness at all. Second meal was perfect, and also resulted in no sickness. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a casual night out without the worry of gluten.
Great service! Tons of GF options. I had sweet potato fries from the GF dedicated fryer and the jerk chicken Caesar salad. My husband had the clams on a half shell and the seafood jambalaya which had some heat for sure! We ended with the delicious GF brownie sundae which is a huge portion and plenty for 2 to share. Thanks to previous reviewers!
this restaurant is amazing for celiac/gluten free! MOST of their menu can be made gluten free and they are very knowledgeable about everything. also they have a dedicated fryer!! i got the chicken broccoli alfredo and i LOVED it! it was absolutely delicious, the noodles didn't fall apart, and i felt great after! it was such a big portion and so so delicious!
Visited this since 2/3 of the menu can be made gluten free. First good sign? Lots of locals in there. I had steamed shrimp appetizer and fried shrimp (yes fried!) with fries all made in a dedicated fryer. It was delicious and the plates were huge. If you visit Virginia Beach, this is a must go to place.
My family was in VA beach last week and we ate at Abbey Rd. three times! My son has celiac and loved that two-thirds of the menu can be prepared GF. He had the chicken tenders which were outstanding (and juicy!), the potato skins 3x, and the grilled cheese 2x. Great service and they have a pool table!
This place is one of the best in Virignia Beach for celiac. They have a wide selection of gluten free options including a dedicated frier. Everything comes out with a marker so we don't get things mixed up with others and staff is very knowledgeable.
Food us certainly good if a little pricey and drinks are interesting. A must visit for anyone with gluten issues at the beach.
The food was great, my wife enjoyed the fried shrimp this time, this is our go to spot on the beach. Never had a problem with food handling.
AMAZING gem in Virginia Beach! There are a plethora of options for both GF and non-allergy bites. Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating! I ordered the pasta prima vera and a side of sweet potato fries. My meal was DELICIOUS! My meal came out with a marked indicating it was different than the rest of our non-gluten free party. They have a seperate fryer for GF items so that is an added bonus! I would highly recommend this spot!
I'll add to the chorus of glowing reviews for Abbey Road! We had dinner here our first night in Virginia Beach, and we loved it! We tried the Reuben with fries, fried shrimp with veggies, jerk chicken with beans and rice, French onion soup, and a brownie sundae. Everybody was happy with the food!
Bonus points to our server. One person in our party has a dairy allergy in addition to gluten, and when she ordered the beans and rice, our server told us that she would tell the kitchen not to put cheese on top as they otherwise would have done.
Great experience! Totally safe for us.
Abbey Road is a nice pub on 22nd street, one block from the beach in Virginia Beach, that serves good breakfast and lunch. Dedicated to the Beatles, they take gluten free stuff serious. You can get pretty much everything gluten free, with a gluten free toothpick right in it. They have a gluten free corner in the kitchen, and indicate what's gluten free on the menu. They also say they can make pretty much every dish gluten free (with some obvious exceptions). They did charge me a $1.50 gluten free fee for my naturally gluten free omelet with hash browns. My wife enjoyed her gluttony eggs Benedict. It's nice to find a place that takes gluten free serious. Looking at the crowd on a random non beach Sunday morning, it's a local favorite.
Shout out to the restaurant and our server Jill who effortlessly accommodated our party of 18 at the last minute! Not only did they welcome us with open arms, they served us delicious food. The gluten free selection with a dedicated gluten free fryer goes above and beyond. This quaint restaurant checks all the boxes!
I look forward to visiting here every year. One of the best menus for GF options and have never had any kind of cross contamination issues. I had the black and blue burger and French onion soup. Both were amazing.
Everything seems safe as far as I can tell but only did 4 out of 5 cause I don't know what happens in kitchen. My husband and I had some burger and mine did have GF marker.
I didn't ask about kitchen practices, but our server was very knowledgeable. I had breakfast today. I don't remember the name of the order, but I had scrambled eggs, homefries, steak and fruit with gluten-free toast. Let me just tell you, after eating GF so long, I was so impressed by the toast that I questioned again if it was truly gluten-free! It definitely was. Menu is clearly marked. Super cute Beatles theme too. Live music regularly. Really nice place.
I LOVED this place. Very knowledgeable and accommodating for gf. The protocols they follow are spelled out clearly on the menu. More than half the menu can be done gf. It was the first time in over a decade that I had a deep fried seafood platter. We even had the dark chocolate brownie sundae for dessert. It was amazing without being overly sweet. I highly recommend this place.
It’s the best place we found so far for true GF options. 2/3 of the menu is Gluten free and they have a dedicated fryer. You can try fried shrimp which is really good. The waiter was not perfectly aware of all the options but will inquire in the chicken if needed. For drinks, we tried the strawberry daiquiri which was not labeled GF but was ok for me. The waiter brought the mix for it so we could validate if it is ok. Beware of the O’Mission beer which is labeled GF on the menu! It is actually a Gluten reduced beer so unsafe for celiacs.
We went on Thursday night. Last day of vacation and 2 time going out to eat. We were eating packed food or dinner from Harris Teeter (TGI Kevin meals). We love places where the celiac can feel normal eating out including ciders on draft. Felt safe. Food was delicious and tons of variety to GF. He got the Rueben with fries (yeah dedicated dryer!) and Buffalo wings (we were bummed they were out of potato skins). I’m not celiac and got mahi mahi and broccoli. Both great options for all.
We had a great meal at Abbey Road — the fried shrimp was so good! Our server was working her last shift before leaving for college but we were still well taken care of. We had- Fried oysters Fried mahi bites Fried shrimp Surf & turf with fries The theme of the meal was definitely fried seafood as there were so many delicious options to choose from, and choose we did!
It was quite busy, and we had a large party. The waitress came out with the large tray of food and in the other hand was my daughter’s plate - to prevent cross-contamination! Another guest in our party had ordered the same thing, so I was nervous but they had a special marker in the GF bun to identify it. My daughter loved the food, especially the sweet potato fries. She said the GF bun crumbled so it made eating the chicken sandwich hard. She had no symptoms after our visit.
