I had read many positive reviews about a Aberdeen Barn on other platforms as well as it had a good reputation from when I lived in Williamsburg years ago. I called the hostess and asked if they recommended Reservations and she politely said yes they did being that they’re only open from the afternoon time (I think it’s 4 pm) until 8:30 PM. Our waiter, Mike was an older gentleman and was very caring and kind. While they did not have a gluten-free menu, I did talk with Mike and he was very accommodating.
My son had the crackers and cheese that was served to everybody as a welcoming appetizer and with more planning I could’ve brought my own crackers and enjoyed the cheese as well with no worries. I did order a Delmonico steak with a loaded baked potato and a house salad with no croutons. It was all very fresh and came out with excellent results that met my expectation. My son ordered The seafood trilogy with scallops, shrimp and mahi-mahi with garlic, mashed potatoes. He said it was excellent! This steakhouse is a very old-fashioned type of restaurant with a full bar available for drinks. Having said that I didn’t expect them to have a gluten-free menu yet. I did expect them to not have any issues serving me, gluten free because of my basic steak and potatoes and salad order. Everything went well!
We had a delightful experience here. Our server, Harris James was very accommodating with helping us decide what to order. I had your basic steakhouse dinner- salad (which was nice and crisp), Delmonico steak with sautéed onions and a baked potato. The steak came out just right. They have a very nice wine list. The portions are large, so I had no room for dessert. Would definitely come back and ask for Harris.
Waiter was not interested in my need to eat gluten free. Thought a steak would be a safe bet and brought be some apple sauce instead of the salad because he didn't know what was in the ranch. Something made me sick, not sure what it was.
A favorite dining establishment of my husband before celiac. They serve no gf crackers or breads, my husband will carry his crackers for delicious cheese. Our Waiter Essam was fantastic, told my husband I will take care of you, shrimp and scallops wrapped with bacon delicious, steak salad with balsamic vinegar, baked potato. No beer, cider and wine available.
Definitely not celiac friendly. I asked what was gluten free and the kind waitress said “I thought it was marked on the menu.” It wasn’t nor did she have any clue how to proceed from there and kept telling me to enjoy the crackers and breadsticks. I ordered steak and she said it would be without the onion rings on top yet it was served to me with onion rings on top. She took it back and brought the same steak back to me. I sent it back again and a new steak came out rare and I had to send that back as well. Not a good experience and I still paid 130 bucks.
