I get the eggs, pancakes and link sausage from here, pretty regularly. Never had a reaction but it's merely OK pancake house food.

ewww! Gluten free pancake fine, can't really screwed up a pancake. how is regular syrup not gluten free. Omlette was gluten free, but really gross! On the plus side didn't get sick after eating and server was very nice.

We went after reading positive reviews, and it didn't disappoint. I was told the only gf pancakes they do are the standard pancakes, but that's exactly what I wanted. I don't know if they can do their eggs or breakfast meats and keep them gf since all I cared about were the pancakes. The waitress immediately informed me upon my order that I can't have their house syrup, but they had a sugar free, gf syrup. I appreciated her quick acknowledgement to my needs. The pancakes were hot and fluffy, and I loved them! Everyone else enjoyed their breakfasts, too!

Food was good, did not get sick after pancakes, but our waitress acted annoyed from the moment I told her I was eating from the gluten free menu. When I asked her to find out if there was any possibility of cross contamination with sausage, she looked at me like I had three heads and walked away without asking; therefore I had no meat with my breakfast. Will NOT go back!

After trying two other pancake houses in Myrtle Beach, these pancakes are the best! They are fluffy and they put bananas and pecans in the pancakes, and ON TOP! There is no gluten free pancakes on the menu, but they are on the sign for the restaurant. I asked for gluten free pancakes, and as always asked for the cook to clean off the grill before making my food. The server replied that they already do that, which means they are conscious about cross contamination. I have a severe allergy to gluten, but had no reaction to the food at Akel's.

We accidentally walked in very close to closing but the staff was very nice about it. The Gluten free pancakes were amazing! You could hardy tell they were gluten free.

Some of the staff are knowledgable, but some aren't. My waiter Michael was very knowledgable. I asked to talk to the chef and he seemed to know the severity of having celiac disease. Their original syrup contained barley, but the sugar free syrup is gluten free and even states it on the bottle. The pancakes taste delicious!!! And best of all I had no reactions.

What a great place! The banana-pecan pancakes were amazing. Our waitress, Cheryl, was super friendly and helpful. She let me know that their regular syrup has malt barley in it so I had to have sugar free. They have a clipping of the pancake mix label so you can buy it for your personal use. Hubby, who isn't, GF, loved them too.

I have to say it was great to be able to go out and have a "regular" breakfast without stress. I had the banana and pecan gf pancakes with eggs and bacon. Everything came out hot and delicious. I was a little weary after some other reviews but our server Mike was great and very knowledgeable of Celiac disease. I would give 10 stars if possible. Definitely check this place out when you are in the area.

waitress did not seem knowledgeable about gluten free options, nor is there a dedicated menu. I am also dairy free and that concept seemed foreign to our waitress. food was not good whatsoever.

Definitely worth a trip to Akel's b/c they offer GF pancakes any way you want them! This is the FIRST restaurant I've had GF pancakes as an option since my celiac disease diagnosis.
