Food tastes great and staff were able to cater the set menu but I had to constantly remind staff that I’m coeliac and only after mentioning this again and again did they make and bring me out alternative - my meals came out so much later to everyone else

I've eaten without issue at Akiba in the past, but unfortunately had a bad reaction after a recent visit. Would recommend fellow coeliacs steer clear.

Akiba is my go-to for coeliac friendly food! Staff are super knowledgeable about cross-contaminationand are super careful even when bringing out the food! Separate kitchen and utensils etc used to ensure a safe dining experience!
Food is a fusion of Japanese and Australian cuisines - a must visit venue - book early as they are often booked out!

This restaurant is the whole package: fabulous food, evident coeliac awareness (including separate fryer and specific coeliac menu) and excellent service. It's the kind of place where you'll be told not just about the separate fryer, but that the gf and non-gf fryer are located side-by-side in the kitchen, enabling you to decide the level of cross-contamination risk that you're comfortable with. FYI the miso dengaku eggplant is fried, but in a third fryer elsewhere in the kitchen. We had it; can highly recommend!

Had a couple of really nice experiences at Akiba! The first time I ordered off of the a la carte menu. The second time I got a banquet menu.
In all cases, they have a coeliac-specific menu that you can order from. After specifying with the staff that I was coeliac, they confirmed that they use a clean area of the kitchen for this and avoided cross-contamination. With every meal brought out, the staff were sure to stipulate which was coeliac or not. With the banquet meal, I felt so spoiled as I was with gluten eaters, but while they had the gluten menu the kitchen/staff had a 5-course coeliac menu brought out just for me! Fantastic. Feels so good to go somewhere where my needs are well understood.
I did call ahead to ask questions and stipulated that I was coeliac when I arrived.
