Symptomatic Celiac

Bobby, who is also a manager, was our server and said his sister has celiac and was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. They went above and beyond, checking ingredients and making sure there was no cross contamination. We felt protected and confident ordering from him.

Overall, our experience was a good one.

They mark which items are gluten free on their menu, and additionally have a category marked "Gluten free available" (GFA). GFA means that they can substitute non-GF parts of the item for GF ones. While the menu lists items made with "gluten-free tempura" and "gluten-free unagi sauce", the tempura is fried in a shared fryer and the unagi sauce is only that: sadly, they don't actually serve GF unagi.

A lot of the GFA items weren't worth getting once the non-GF parts were removed or subbed, however they will replace the fake "Krab" with real crab for an upcharge. About a third of the menu is marked GF; half if you count the GFA.

The food was good, and we didn't have any obvious snafus (where something obviously not GF was on the roll). They do have GF soy sauce (we got takeout, so we got packets of soy sauce marked GF). I would have given five stars if they had GF unagi or truly GF tempura. They seemed to be knowledgeable about what was and what wasn't GF.

They are a busy restaurant, so plan ahead and allow plenty of time for your dinner.
