Based on the reviews here, I took a chance and didn't probe them with a ton of questions. They just seemed to "get it" - boy, they GOT it! The food was delicious. The chicken sandwich really is amazing and has such a great combination of flavors. My celiac daughter got a hamburger then quickly traded half my sandwich when I gave her a taste. The second time I went, I had the chicken and waffles because they were out of GF buns. I was so nervous because the waffles looked so good I thought they couldn't possibly have been GF. They were. Nom. I do suggest calling ahead to make sure they have what you want before you arrive. I reeeeeally wanted that chicken sandwich the 2nd time I went. 😋
This place is amazing! I was able to eat gluten free fried chicken waffles! It was delicious. Their desserts are pretty much all gluten free too! Best place I have been to so far in Central Florida. I highly recommend.
Cashier did not seem to know what items on the menu would be safe for me to eat (GF/DF). I was pushed into ordering a salad because she said that was the only thing I could have.
I sat to wait for my food to be ready and read over the menu again. I returned to the counter and asked her if the chicken sandwich (the item I came in for) would have been fine if it were grilled chicken. She said yes. I asked her the same question about the burgers (if I got no cheese) and she said yes. I asked if they have an allergen menu, she said no.
Why wasn’t I given those items as an option before?! I don’t even want this salad I ordered - I just got it because she said it was the only thing I could have and I wanted to give the place a shot.
This better be a damn good $20 salad, or else I doubt I will return.
Although it took a little bit to get the order I must confess it’s the best chicken sandwich around in my option. It’s super juicy and they make their own aioli.
Fantastic menu options, chef is very knowledgeable & can steer you in the right way. There is the possibility of cross-contamination, so go with the yummy home fries to be safe.
If you're vegan, you're pretty much stuck with the vegan burger, home fries, & salad options for lunch; but totally worth it if you're into it.
Their specials are pretty amazing. My husband was able to find something to eat without feeling a need to compromise on taste; so we were both very happy here.
Worth a try!!
This is one of our favorite lunch spots in Orlando! Listen, you can get an actual fried chicken sandwich! Gluten free fried chicken, on a gluten free bun. And I’m not talking flavorless, with no sauce- we are talking sauce, slaw, the works… just delicious. Also gotta try their award-winning Mamba Burger if you like a little spice. They always have gluten free dessert options. Great, friendly staff and owner, like a second family.
All I can say is WOW! This was honestly the Best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had! Fried pickles were a little spicy but so yummy. French fries were homemade and perfectly cooked. My family has 3 celiacs and we were so excited to try this place based on the reviews. It exceeded my expectations! The staff is amazing, kind and knowledgeable. Our meals were delayed because they just opened and were changing the dedicated gluten free fryer oil. Because of the wait they gave us free homemade chocolate chip cookies to eat while waiting (amazing - just like chips ahoy). We also got a free dessert, chocolate cake which was also incredible and moist. Thank you Alex and staff for understanding the gluten free struggle and creating the most delicious food I've ever had! Will definitely be back when we're nearby.
Fried green tomatoes were so good. Also had the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious. The breading was also really good on both of those dishes. They have a dedicated fryer. We had key lime pie for dessert. Also wonderful with a GF crust. They didn’t have many desserts left when we went on a Saturday night. They said the desserts all are GF and they are very popular.
Such a great place to eat! They have tons of GF items on the menu, and they have a dedicated fryer. The fried chicken sandwiches are really good, and they even have gluten free carrot cake. My one complaint is that it takes a little while until the food comes, but other than that, the food is amazing.
I came here on a recommendation from another user of this app. Alex’s is a neighborhood place that has the most yummy fried chicken breast sandwich. Had the fries and fried pickles. Mom (who is also gf) had deconstructed chicken sandwich and loved it. Small friendly place. I heard one guy saying the burgers are a mix of short ribs, filet mignonette and sirloin steak made into patties. Next time I’m down this way I’m getting one of those burgers. Just about everything can be done gf - even desesert!
The food was spectacular! Lots of customization for gluten-free. Very kind ! They seem to take great care to prevent cross-contamination.
-My husband couldn't stop saying how good his "Mamba" burger was! He added gluten-free fried pickles as a side and a slice of gluten-free chocolate cake.
-I had the Turkey, Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato sandwich and French fries!
We will be back-
I have eaten here a few times now and felt it was time to share after reading some reviews I do not think are accurate. The staff are always friendly, they explain the menu and choices well, they have GF items but do also acknowledge that it is a shared kitchen, I have never had an issue after eating here. The food is always delicious!!! Ingredients are fresh you don’t feel like you are missing out when you eat here. It’s a wonderful little place you should try.
The gluten free fried chicken sandwich was good… absolutely LOVED the GF lemon pie! It was so good I didn’t believe it was gluten free. Seriously go there to try the gluten free desserts. I can’t wait to try the GF cake I heard about. Service was great and they were accommodating.
I had the most amazing fried chicken sandwich and fried pickles. They have a variety of GF cakes too. I can’t wait to come back and try them. They have a dedicated fryer too. Definitely a must try!!! Will definitely be coming back with my two celiac kids too and let them enjoy something they normally don’t get to eat… fried foods!!
Everyone raves about this place and it's fantastic they have so many GF options and are about 2 miles from my house. Unfortunately, though, it did not live up to the hype for me taste wise. Overcooked / dry food isn't a tradeoff for having GF buns.
Medium Burge was well done. Very little cheese on it. The breading on the fried Pickles and jalapeños was super soggy and off-putting. Ended up just eating the burger patty only. Soggy fries. BF's chicken sandwich was good but he said he wouldn't get it again.
Great to have GF options, but only if executed well.
After hearing about how celiac safe this restaurant was, I decided to give it a shot. Explained that I had celiac so please do everything possible to reduce cross contamination. I still got glutened and honestly the food wasn’t even tasty enough that it was worth the sick it gave me. Won’t go back.
Truly remarkable!!! We live 4 hours away and I would come here just for the Mamba Burger and homemade fries. As a pediatric gastroenterologist whom lives with celiac disease and Crohn’s disease, eating out is not an easy task. If I’m going to eat out it needs to count and you better make me the best cheeseburger I’ve ever had. Well Alex, the owner, has done just that. The meat was top notch, the brioche style bun is perfect, and the cheesy sauce is well, no words to describe that yumminess. They even have desserts that are GF. Alex grew up cooking and this restaurant shows his passion for his craft. Even my boyfriend whom eats gluten was shocked and was thankful it’s not closer as he would come daily :)
Celiac here and got the FRIED CHICKEN SANDWHICH WITH FRENCH FRIES... LITERALLY INCREDIBLE!!! The Owner, Alex, has family members with Celiac and is extremely KNOWLEDGABLE on gluten free protocols and avoiding cross contamination, ALL of the chefs are extremely knowledgable. I have eaten here twice both times getting the GF FRIED CHICKEN SANDWHICH WITH FRIES AND IT IS HEAVEN ON EARTH! WAY BETTER THAN CHICK FIL A AND 0 GLUTEN WHATSOEVER. NO BREAKOUTS! I can tell if something is cross contaminated the minute i eat it because my arm starts getting red and rashy and i start to itch, this has NOT happened at Alexs fresh kitchen so I know that they really know how to prepare GLUTEN FREE! God bless this little gem, you MUST go! All deserts are gluten free as well!!! Sign up for their loyalty program to get poiints to redeem for free deserts!!! Lemon Cake Banana bread chocolate peanut buutter cake, suuuuper rich and flavorful. They also just added gluten free FRIED PICKLES TO THE MENU, as well as theyre adding gluten free beer soon!
Love love love Alex's!!! Have eaten here a bunch and never gotten sick. Alex has a celiac in his fam & his mom makes all of the delicious GF desserts! I have 5 words for you: FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH WITH FRIES. This is a must try if you're in the area. It does get busy and it's a small restaurant but def not anything to keep you from trying it!
Had the fried chicken sandwich and fries from a dedicated fryer for gf items. Everything was delicious. I wanted to try the banana bred but they were out. Will definitely be back.
We stopped by for lunch after hearing they could accommodate gluten free. They were super friendly and the desserts were gluten free. But unfortunately, as far as lunch went they said they could make up gluten free fried chicken and that was about it. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend it for a celiac looking to grab lunch.
