We traveled 1 1/2 hours to Ali's for her amazing gluten free bakery. I have not found options like hers in the 3 years that I have been gluten free. When I drove down and it was closed I felt like a family member died that is how sad I was. She had a true talent for what she did. God bless you for the little slice of heaven that you offered us Ali.

Closed! It's so sad.... She had a very comprehensive selection of certified gluten free products. I'm hoping that they are moving or have moved and will re-open somewhere. Just really hoping that all is well for Ali an her family!
CLOSED!!!! Drive about 30 minutes to find it closed, very sad.
This place is your one stop shop for food, snacks, groceries and best of all DESSERTS!! Wow are they amazing. Prices are great. It's a must stop if you have any food allergies.
Amazing service! Very knowledgable about the products and what I can and can not eat do to my severe allergies. Thank you so much for giving me options.
Great pizza if Paul makes it! He should teach the others how to make them.
touted vegan but found very little. also much more expensive.
I really like eating at Ali's, but it is too expensive. Maybe they need to high prices to be able to stay open. I pay over $12 for a sandwich. My girls love that they have lots of desserts to pick from. I love what they offer, but can only afford to go once in a blue moon.
Great selection but VERY pricy!
Best gluten free baked goods you will find! I stop here before visiting my mom, she always requests I bring her a cinnamon swirl. Of course, I leave with many extras and a chocolate cupcake for myself!
One of the best Gluten Free stores in Pennsylvania! I just stopped by today and was floored by all the products they offered for my wife and I. We purchased everything for a week's worth of meals and the staff helped us pick everything out to accommodate our diets. (Both of us are Celiac) I can't say enough great things. They made us feel right at home. We will be returning once a week, (or day if my wife has any say in it).
Very sad day for this GF GIRL. Us Celiac's seek out FRIENDLY BUSINESSES that are safe to eat and this place was starting to be a great experience until the owner yelled over the counter to "Stop taking photos" and so I walked up to her to ask what the problem was only to get a lecture of how this is her "blood sweat and tears and she doesn't want me taking pictures of her products and stealing her trade secrets." When I explained that I post reviews/photos to this site, she was still nasty and totally ruined the whole experience with her attitude. The irony is that trade secrets are not in the photo, it is the recipe. She is NOT a very nice person and seems to not exercise a good business model to verbally attack your patrons due to your fears. I was a PAYING patron, not the enemy. Side note: the sandwiches are normal size at 11.49 and up. A cupcake sized cake was 7.99 -- WOW! I will NOT BE BACK...
I would not buy anything here again. Ordered a pizza for my son who has celiacs, and it was very small and barely had any cheese or toppings on it. If I pay $20 for a small pizza, it better have some toppings on it. When I was checking out the manager Paul was ignorant and had an overall bad attitude like he was doing me a favor by selling me a $20 pizza. They need to get new management that actually knows what quality service means. Hopefully people realize that they can buy most of this stuff at regular grocery stores for much less.
I decided to give this place a try, even though many people have told me to avoid it. I got a sandwich, which I paid $12 for, and it only had three pieces of lunch meat on it, and barely any other condiments!! $12 for a sandwich that I wouldn't even pay $5 for. Absolutely insulting that they would rip people off like this. While I was waiting for my sandwich they were trying their hardest to get me to buy their overpriced baked goods. It appears that they rip you off first, and then promote diabetes by trying to shove their sugary baked goods on you. I would never go back, nor would I recommend anyone spend their money here. RIP OFF!!!
This is by far the best place I have ever been to for gluten free!! I ate their cinnamon roll from the bakery and I must say, it was fantastic. Also tried the Italian sub, the best one I have ever had even when I didn't have to be gluten free! I would highly recommend coming here for anything, gluten free or not! The staff are great as well, and offered to help me when I told them i had never been there before, and even offered me a tour of the store! Now that is customer service at its finest. I will be back.
Love this place!! Great food/pastries and VERY friendly, helpful people. Worth the drive from the West side of Pittsburgh. Large selection of gf groceries.
I am here weekly! Paul, Ali, and Melanie have changed my life in educating me on my gluten intolerance. They are life savers and their food is delicious. I am so blessed to have met them and have their wonderful store so close to home. Get the cinnamon muffin with white icing on top or an orange iced cookie. Their pizza and sandwiches are so good too!
Fantastic gluten free store. Many hard to find dry goods and frozen options. Highlights: Deli and breakfast sandwiches. Fresh bread and pizza by order. Bakery: PB cups and orange cookies. Please try the orange cookies.
Ali's Marketplace is amazing! The bakery items are absolutely delicious-- you would never know that they are gluten free. The sandwiches and pizza are also yummy. Not only that, but the staff is so friendly and helpful. Anytime I'm in the store, I feel so welcomed and appreciated. I would highly recommend Ali's Marketplace to anyone!!!
I have gone to this store a few times before and after they moved locations. As other reviews in this forum, I agree that the prices are extremely high, and the attitudes of some of the staff are insulting, and they act as if they are doing society a favor by allowing us to buy food from their store. The tall male manager is arrogant and seems to have a bad attitude towards customers, including myself. I think they forget that people are spending their hard earned money on products that are very overpriced. I do not recommend that anyone shops at this store!! You can get the same foods at other stores for much cheaper.
I've never been to a place where the employees had to ask other employees what was in their products! I can't believe the prices too! 3.99 for a cupcake?! Outrageous. I've never seen anything like it. The staff were very friendly for the most part and seemed to care, all though the woman running the bakery case was very uninformed. If you like to waste money, this is the place for you.
I don't know where I would be without Ali's Marketplace. I love walking into the store and feeling right at home surrounded by a variety of gluten free products. The baked goods are so delicious you wouldn't know it's GF. Sandwiches are great too, my favorites include the Veggie and the Italian. I'm so glad I came here first when I was diagnosed with Celiac because the staff is very kind and knowledgable. They are a little high in price but they have many items I don't have access to in my hometown.
Heaven on Earth! What an awesome experience my family and I had there today! We enjoyed breakfast sandwiches and to die for baked goods. The entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable. one if the girls went through the products with my son who is an extremely picky gluten free celiac. We can't wait to return!
I went to this store after hearing that they have a large selection of gluten free options. But, a majority of their options are not only unhealthy, they are incredibly expensive. I went to the sandwich counter to try one of their sandwiches, but the staff basically ignored me for nearly 10 minutes!! Everyone seemed to be miserable that worked there, so I will spend my money at a different store next time. There are plenty of options out there. You would think the employees or owners would be happy that people are spending their hard earned money on their over priced groceries.
A-mazing options! Fresh baked goods, food made to order and groceries. Clean, cute and easy parking.
Amazing baked goods
We just stopped in to Ali's Marketplace for a special lunch and dessert treat. We also shopped a bit in the store, but really were there to eat. They have absolutely amazing fresh food. I ordered the italian sub, per their suggestion. And my friend ordered the reuben. Our kids ordered the chicken nuggets and (dairy free) grilled cheese. Everyone loved everything! The nuggets were really quite good. Perfect for kids. Not too "peppery" or dry, which we've found many GF nuggets are. My italian was absolutely incredible. So incredible actually that my kids ate most of it. And my friend actually said that her reuben ranked in the top of all reubens she's eaten, even before celiac! After lunch we got an assortment of treats from the bakery. Everything was moist and delicious. The chocolate donuts are incredible but rich. I don't think I could eat a whole one, but it was great to share. The cookies were good and soft. And the streusel muffin was delicious. Nothing tasted dry or "sandy" like some GF items. There were also plenty of dairy free items on both the bakery and lunch menus and they were conscientious to list all other allergies present in their products. They also prep all dairy free items in a separate prep area too. All in all we were very impressed with the food! We look forward to driving out that way every so often for lunch and a treat.
Honestly the best place on earth! I found this place about two years ago, when I first was diagnosed with a severe gluten intolerance. Never have I ever been disappointed! Paul, Ali, and Mel are such wonderful people. They are so helpful, friendly, and knowledgable on every product in their store. They'll never steer you wrong! The staff is also wonderful! Knowledgable on products, helpful, and welcoming. They are all aware of many food allergies (just not gluten!) I have been there numerous times inquiring information, and if they don't know off the top of their head, they will gladly look it up for you!! The baked goods are to die for (they don't last more than a half hour in my house, and I'm the only one gluten free!) The food service is also top notch! It's great to go into a place and not have to worry about a single thing! Absolutely the best of the best.
You don't get much for the amount of money you pay, and the food was just OK. Nothing special by any means. The staff was nice except for a man named Paul, who was rather rude to myself and some other customers. Seemed to have an overall bad attitude. And, they claim to support a healthy lifestyle, but the few times I was in the store they were practically begging me to buy their unhealthy bakery items. I would not recommend this store to anyone. You can get the same food at other stores, or make your own for a fraction of the cost.
They are great there! We asked them about a boars head product that they didn't carry. Next time we went in, it was there! Their personal customer service is above any other! Lucky to live so close to a great business!!
Wonderful place to pick up a gluten free and dairy free lunch. I had an awsome roast beef hoagie and a mouth watering chocolate dessert. The store and bakery have LOTS of gluten and dairy free items and the quality of the food is very high.
It has a good selection but keep in mind this is a gluten-free store NOT a health food store. You will finds lots of sugar and carbs. Which is fine, just don't fool yourself. It's great if you need to quickly pick up a pizza or treat yourself to a cupcake but other than that it is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. Instead of making the time to drive out here, just use Vitacost or Amazon to buy the same gluten free supplies for half the cost. Also, most of their baked goods contain dairy, eggs and/or soy so you're better off going to Gluuteny if you have other allergies--I think their desserts are better anyways.
Excellent food! Sweets that taste like real dessert!!! Love it
Amazing!!! So lucky to have this close by! The only thing better than their bakery items are Ali and her staff! If you can't find a Gluten Free product here I swear it doesn't exists!
Love, love, love this store!!! I stop here at least once a week for lunch. The bakery is to die for. No one can ever believe that these desserts are gf. Highly recommend!!
Amazing place! Went there for the first time today and will definitely be back soon! Everything tasted wonderful and the staff was so welcoming!
This is a fabulous shop. Unfortunately I live in Michigan and do not get to visit very often. Fabulous bakery and fantastic sandwiches. If you are in the area you must stop by.
Had a sandwich there today for the 1st time which was better than any sandwich I could get any place else! Only draw back is I can't afford to eat or shop there often unfortunetly.
Wow! What can I say! Absolutely knowledgable and friendly staff! The family that owns it all live the gluten free lifestyle and is there to offer lots of gluten free advice. Not to mention their bakery items are all to die for! I haven't had an Italian hoagie since being diagnosed...it was better than the gluten I remember! Well done Gluten Free Zone, I will be back for sure!
After reading reviews I was expecting to be wowed by this place. The staff was friendly and helpful, but in all I am rather disappointed. The groceries are overpriced, as well as the hot food items. $17 dollars for an order of bread sticks?! $1.50 per topping on an already $17 dollar pizza?! $8 dollars for a sandwich on a bun not much bigger than a hot dog bun?! There was no wow factor in the food, in fact it was almost tasteless. In my much smaller hometown in PA, the few gluten free options are not nearly as expensive.
As a 9 yr. old that is gluten free, it is hard for me to eat things that other kids eat. I even get made fun of in school b/c of this. However, I actually feel good again after feeling bad for a long time. Anyway, the Gluten Free Zone is AWESOME! I actually had pizza for the first time in a really long time. This shop was great and the staff was really nice and helpful. I wish there was a shop like this in the Philly, PA area. Thanks Gluten Free Zone and I'll be back!
So this is what heaven is like. I stumbled on this store and did not want to leave. I had a turkey sandwich that was fantastic. You cannot find a nicer group of people who seem to really want to do a good and right thing. It would be great if they expanded 280 miles East!
Everything, and I mean everything, they make is you won't believe it is gluten free amazing! The baked goods fooled my family who saw a bakery box on the counter and devoured my Thanksgiving cookies and cupcakes. I don't know how they bake so that the items stay moist for days like "regular" items. Their baguettes, which they make hot sandwiches with as well, are to die for, as is their pizza crust. My only complaint is that it is across town and I can't go every week. They are by far the best gf bakery in Pittsburgh.
Love it! Pastries and food is amazing. As well as everyone their is so knowledgable on all there products and benefits to a gluten free lifestyle
Absolutely my favorite place! Staff is friendly and very knowledgable. It is so hard to find a store that has so many great gluten free products as well as amazing fresh gluten free food. When I'm in town I always go to Gluten Free Zone to stock up!
Absolutely amazing!!! Stopped here for the first time the other day. The baked goods are out of this world, the sandwiches are to die for, and above all the staff is so friendly. I have never been to a place so dedicated to helping a celiac like myself. I would highly recommend this place even if you're not a celiac!
Would not eat here owner could not even tell me the ingredients in the baked goods not the recipe but the ingredients! Obviously does not know!
Not only is everything gluten free, but the staff is helpful and pleasant. I recommend coming here regularly! Support your local GF establishments!
