Told them we were gluten free. Waitress was clueless as to what that was so she brought us their allergy menu. Then they brought us regular bread so I again said we are gluten free so we don't need it and asked if they had gluten free bread. They said yes. 20 minutes later I asked about the gluten free bread and they said they would bring some. Finally the chef came to our table to ask about the way my wife wanted her pasta and I asked him about the gluten free bread. He brought some out himself, which was just a gluten free hamburger bun that was still frozen in the middle. My wife's pasta was good but I got the Salmon, which I get often all over the country. My salmon was by far the worst salmon I have ever had. It was overcooked, tasted bad and the mussels with it were also way overcooked, like chewing hard beef jerky. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.
They have a limited gluten free menu. We ordered the minestrone soup, Caesar salad, and the lumaconi pasta. It was all very good but they left croutons in the Caesar salad so that was disappointing. The wait staff was very considerate and the chef came out to apologize. I’m not very symptomatic so I wasn’t too unhappy but I wanted to write the review for others thinking about this place.
They have a limited gluten free menu that includes gluten free pasta dishes. The penne ala vodka was good and the chicken was very juicy. They brought out a grilled gluten free roll with olive dipping oil which was better than the regular sourdough they offer (according to my friend). The pasta was expensive but portions were large.
What a pleasant surprise! The fact that they are open late and brought out my own gluten free bread separate from my friend’s table bread. Waitress was diligent about no croutons on my Caesar side salad. I order the mushroom risotto and that was really good for a casino pasta experience.
I was so pleasantly surprised at the wonderful service and food here. We were looking for a very very late dinner (1am after a poker tournament) and I assumed I’d be eating a small dinner salad. This place has a full GF menu and delicious food options. Yes it’s pricey, but wonderful.
My experience here made me feel safe. I was in a group of work colleagues and the booking was made with a note about needing gf options. After telling them that I had a gluten allergy at the top of the evening they changed out my menu, and assigned me my OWN CHEF who came out and introduced himself and checked in twice to make sure everything was good, made suggestions, and timed my meal at my request to work on with the rest of the table. No gluten induced sickness here :)
We ate lunch at Allegro. I was excited about the GF bread I’d read about in other reviews, but it’s not offered for lunch. There aren’t a lot of GF options on the lunch menu. I had the Caesar salad, minus croutons, with grilled salmon. It was good, but nothing special. We’ve eaten dinner here in the past, and I’d definitely suggest dinner over lunch. More GF options including the GF bread are available for dinner.
I had the gluten-free pasta and it was amazing. They also had the best gluten-free bread that I’ve ever had in my life! They said that they make the pasta and bread in house and make sure that it is celiac safe and I had no reactions. When I spoke to them about dessert they said the only dessert that they had was made outside of their facility and had the possibility of cross-contamination because that bakery does not make sure that it is gluten free, only gluten sensitive, so I avoided it. They can modify some of the dishes to make them gluten-free that are not marked, they made me a gluten-free/vegan Bolognese with beef… the gf pasta is a penne.
The waitress named Joe served me and he was very knowledgeable, and said his wife was celiac. They change gloves have a dedicated space, separate fryer and bring out different oil for their GF bread. They do not have a dedicated oven so none of their pizza is safe.
They have separate GF bread which is complementary, they make it from scratch and it’s really good. They use the ancient grain noodles from Whole Foods for their pasta
They have separate gluten free menu with several options. They also had a gluten free bread as a complementary starter. Our waiter also asked if I had allergy or if it was just preference, for reasons I assumed were to make sure there was no cross contamination. I felt great eating the food!
They have a separate allergen menu and when you tell them you're gluten-free, they ask if you're simply avoiding gluten or if it's an allergy. When you tell them it's serious, they take all the extra precautions. And the food is absolutely delicious!!
Server came out and asked about food allergies right away, got gluten free bread that was very good and the salmon and grilled asparagus. The salmon was hands down the best I've ever had! Definitely recommend!
