Such a shame - we've been going to the Alma Coffee House since we moved up here two years ago. The prior owner was always sympathetic about my wife's Celiac Disease. All she orders is a Latte but even the slightest cross-contamination makes her violently sick within thirty minutes, so she is extra careful. My wife was asking questions of a new employee about cross contamination and the cook/owner apparently took offense and said he considered Celiac to be psychosomatic and sarcastically taunted her about me and my daughter ordering wheat bread sandwiches. Little does his feeble mind realize is that my wife gets violently sick even with a speck of gluten. It is indeed a real thing and we never know when cross-contamination will happen. The insulting of my wife was almost too much to bear as she teared up because of the torture of Celiac. However, in order to not cause a scene - because it WOULD have escalated in my anger and it would not help to get arrested. We stayed because we had ordered sandwiches and already paid so we stayed to get what was owed. I didn't say anything at the time so the owner would not spit in my food. My wife refused to drink the coffee because the owner thinks bleach kills Gluten. I had ordered a Jalapeno BLT that came out with no jalapenos or even jalapeno flavoring. It was the blandest BLT I can remember. It was supposed to come with tortilla chips - but I received the crumbled up micro-crumbs from the bottom of the bag. My daughter had ordered an apple savory melt and it came out with an inch of apple and very little else. Worst value - two sandwiches and three drinks for $30 (including a prepaid 20% tip) - although we got insults which is I guess what we really paid for. Thanks to the new management, we will be going to the Fairplay Creamery where the people are amazing! We only continued on to Alma due to the crowded festive people at the creamery. We wanted a quiet place to talk with my daughter who was visiting. Besides we wanted to patron a long-standing favorite place and keep the economy going to the Alma Coffe House. Thank you for darkening the day and ruining it.People are tortured with Celiac and gluten intolerance. You have a lot to learn about running an eatery and about customer service. Just a shred of compassion and understanding would have gone a long way. You could have even faked it.... but you didn't care about anything besides giving us a bad experience, and overcharging for substandard food. We'll only tell EVERYONE in South Park not to frequent your establishment. Way to go failing in your endeavor and we hope you fail miserably.
