Omg heaven on earth! I saw the bad reviews, but figured I'd ask the person serving me to put the gelato in a cup with no cookie right away. I did that and they understood. The pistachio gelato and the chocolate sorbet are wonderful! If you go mid-day, there's little to no line. It gets long at night (went back for seconds :)
Unfortunately, after waiting almost an hour in line, they told me practically nothing is safe, as almost everything, with an exception to the fruit flavors because they are made first, have cross-contamination. It is not safe here for you if you have celiac.
Automatically places a waffle cone cookie on your ice cream if it’s in a cup!!!! Not safe for celiacs. I attempted to ask for no cookie and got one anyways. Thankfully did not get sick and just passed the cookie to my sister (who happily took it), but omg I was not expecting it. Lines are also long as heck after dinner or on hot days.

After seeing the reviews for the Anita Gelato in old San Juan we were exited to find one closer to our hotel. Unfortunately after the very very long line they put cookies in our ice cream despite us asking them specifically to not. Got sick there, would definitely not recommend anyone with any gluten sensitivity to eat here.
