The place is now called In Riva Bistrò, but still worth a visit. We came during late afternoon, the kitchen was closed, but still we got very good warm ham and cheese sandwiches (based on hamburger style buns) and frites from a dedicated fryer. For kids. For us a very good wine and Aperol Spritz.
staff seemed a little thrown for a loop by the celiac. they were unclear about what items would be celiac safe. what they do have: pasta, a hamburger, a ham and cheese sandwich, and french fries. if you have any dietary restrictions beyond celiac, i do not recommend coming here as you will likely have to have dairy or meat in order to avoid the gluten. i ordered the spaghetti with tomato sauce and it was not great, not terrible. did not feel particularly well after eating, but it could just be that i was already feeling unsure about how safe the food was.
Super friendly staff. Happily explained all the GF options. Of which there were many. Had a bacon and cheese toasted bun and French fries. Both delicious. Fries were fresh and crunchy and the melted cheese hit the spot. Their coffee was good too. They did charge an extra 2.50 for the GF option.
Gluten-free sandwiches and fries. They also had gluten free pasta options available.
NOW KNOWN AS ‘IN RIVA BISTRO’ Highly recommend this place. Lovely staff who are clued up on cross contamination. They explained they use separate fryers for the chips and prepare gluten free on a separate surface I had a pork sandwich with chips, however they had gluten free chicken/ calmari etc etc. The bun was lovely, it came toasted and they asked whether I wanted any sauces in the sandwich
We went to this cafe after seeing other people recommending it on this app.
They knew what gluten free/ coeliac meant and were aware of cross contamination.
The waiter clarified with the kitchen that the food I ordered was gluten free and when making the order the chef came out to clarify it was gluten free - she even brought the food over herself.
I had the pork roll with lettuce and a bowl of chips - both were delicious! 😍
I enjoyed my meal here! Would recommend if in Burano. GF options are not listed on the menu, but essentially there’s a few sandwiches, fries, and the seafood salad. I had the sausage sandwich with pepper and onion added. These additions do cost extra, so keep that in mind. My order took a bit longer than my non gf counterpart, but the server explained that would happen because they are taking precautions to keep the food gf. It’s been a few hours and im feeling fine still! Additionally, the meal was delicious and oh so flavorful! Would recommend to anyone looking for an easy gf meal in Burano.
