AMAZING!

Had gluten free sandwich, salad AND pie for $15 lunch special. Was absolutely delicious. The service is incredible too. Thank you Linda, you are an angel!

Stopped here as my first town day 77.5 miles in on the Pacific Crest Trail.

4 of us had lunch 1/13/24 (Sat). We sat outside at picnic tables and enjoyed the food. None of us are celiac. I ordered gf apple crumb pie, it was delicious!! I had gf bread and ham/cheese sandwich (lunch special). GF lunch special w/soup usually only offered Saturdays. Other days you can order gf sandwich, pie but, maybe no soup. The wait line was short compared to other restaurants in Julian. Would be happy to go back, especially for the gf pie!!

No issues / reaction from pies-they tasted great. Had an apple boysenberry slice with lunch special (on GF bread) and took an apple pie to go. Drove into town on a Sunday afternoon; Julian was a mob scene. Monday for lunch was no issue. Small kitchen; staff was knowledgeable on GF. Don’t think there are other GF pie options in town.

Well. Got a gf pie. I worked retail every single holiday for the past decade. I am allergic to oats. I said “do you happen to know the ingredients to the gluten free pie?” after inquiring if they even had it since it’s the holidays. I understand the craziness of the holidays. I’ve had people fight for things at the markets I’ve worked at. For the lady at the front to respond with “ UGH do you know what day it is it’s the holidays I don’t KNOW what it’s made of?!? Why???!”

Well. Again. I am out of town and don’t feel like going to the ER. Hoping it was just that one lady but man…. I had high expectations for some sort of understanding. Especially after reading the article in newspaper online. And I was being extremely kind especially since I HAVE WORKED RETAIL. Made me feel uncomfortable shouting that from the back of the kitchen to me. My dad wanted us to just walk out.

She didn’t wash her hands and boxed it with bare hands so let’s hope she didn’t touch any gluten beforehand…

A definite go to when visiting Julian!!! They have GF pies so frequently, I’ve never gone and not been able to get one. They’re so delicious!!!!!

Amazing staff, super friendly, had the list of ingredients for anything they were unsure about (ex soups). Also didn’t charge extra for gf substitutes including pie and bread for the sandwiches, this was a first for me!!! 10/10 recommend

Great gluten free apple pie. The ice cream is not gluten free. Inside and outside seating. Great staff. Happy to explain how they keep the pie gluten free in a bakery which also bakes pies which are not gluten free. They also make sandwiches using gluten free bread and ingredients, but I didn't try them.

Apple Alley had a lot of different gluten free options! You can get a slice or a whole pie. I had a slice of the gf apple crumble that was delicious, and then we bought a full pie of boysenberry crumble. The employees were very friendly as well :)

Ridiculous protocol for getting in. Place is wide open but they only let one group in at a time. Would have loved to try the gluten free pie but not participating in the circus of getting a slice.

Last time I was in Julian I was surprised to find gluten free Apple Pie whit Eiscreme. It was delicious. This second time I ordered boysenberry Pie and i enjoyed it so much.

I love this place! The pie is so good, and the sandwiches are decent. They have a lovely outdoor seating area. So so happy there is a place in Julian I can enjoy a treat too!

So thankful for this app letting me know I could get GF Apple Pie in Julian! They make the GF stuff at the beginning of the day with a clean kitchen. Great pie al a mode! They also have sandwiches!

2021 update - great sandwich on GF bread and unbelievable pie! On top of that, we ate in the courtyard out back where the smell of baking pies wafted into our noses so deliciously!

I am Celiac and didn’t have any issues. The GF boysenberry pie was to die for! And the tuna sandwich on GF bread was delicious!

We had lunch and pie a la mode. The food and service were great. The wait is always worth it. I had the cinnamon ice cream for the first time and will for sure buy a pint to go next time with my frozen GF pies to go.

I was able to get both a pie and a sandwich. When I sat down and the lady handed me my food she said to me ‘oh you’re gluten-free?’ And then she returned with a free cup of gluten-free soup and asked me to try it. They were kind friendly and took lots of Covid precautions. I’m gluten intolerant.

Delicious GF sandwich and pie. The cook invited me in the back to see her GF workspace, and she opened a new tub of ice cream to avoid potential cross contamination in half used tubs. My celiac child loved it and was not sick afterwards.

I opened the app to find a GF apple pie slice in Julian, without much hope...and found it! Staff is super knowledgeable, bake the gf pies in different ovens, and handle them in different part of kitchen from normal pies. And they are great! Also the same price of normal pies! No extra for GF! :)

Came to a pie town expecting to be disappointed... what a great surprise! Tastes amazing, and they have GREAT sandwiches as well.

i have Celiac and was really looking forward to eating the GF apple pie. However, after asking a few questions, it was obviously not safe to eat. They roll the dough on the same surface (after washing) and bake gluten containing pies at the same time in the same oven.

There aren't many gluten-free options in Julian, but Apple Alley Bakery delivers! In addition to serving up classic apple pie with GF crust, they can make your sandwich on GF bread. Great place for lunch or just dessert!

Finally, my kid with Celiac is able to have GF apple pie! It was absolutely delicious, you could not tell it was GF. So happy to have found this gem in Julian. We were too late to try their sandwiches, but it's good to know that there is a place we can eat at when we visit.

Thought that Julian's apple pies were a thing of the past now that you can't have gluten? I did too and am so glad that I was wrong! Amazing GF pies! I had the apple pie with ice cream. It was delicious and even though I am extremely sensitive to cross-contamination, I didn't get sick! The menu says that they also have GF bread for sandwiches, but I didn't try it so I can't review that.

Loved the GF boysenberry pie. Staff was helpful & knowledgeable telling me how they avoid contamination. GF pies are made first on a different counter space with clean gloves & utensils.

They have GF apple crumb pie and boysenberry-apple crumb pie. Available by the slice or a whole pie. During our stay in Julian my friend and I got a whole boysenberry and it was amazing! The crumb topping was great. You'd never know it was GF. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great GF dessert option in Julian.

This was my favorite pie place in Julian before having to go GF. When I went for a visit this fall I had not expected to find GF pie......I got very excited! I ordered a full pie, apple & blackberry. They are frozen due to how crumbly they are but they will warm just a slice if that's all you want. I took it home, let it thaw overnight in the fridge. The next morning I had a slice for bfast. It was on the crumbly side, & the topping could have been a tad sweeter Over all though the filling was delish, and it was very enjoyable! I will certainly go back for another GF pie before the season is over!!
