The "gluten free menu" consisted of a binder filled with tables that had columns for multiple different food allergies. You have to find your item, and then trace over and find the columns that correspond with your allergy. None of the prices are listed in the binder. I suppose this would be helpful for someone with multiple food allergies, but as a newly diagnosed Celiac, this was an overwhelming and cumbersome system.

Not very many gluten free options here. Was given an allergy menu but many of the things listed as not having gluten are not really gluten free (French fries, nachos, and anything else fried as they don’t have a dedicated fryer). Wait staff was nice and tried to be very accommodating of my allergy.
This was a unique experience for us. There was no gluten-free menu, or marked menu items, but the manager sat down with us and an allergens binder, and went over the safe-to-eat menu items with us. He was very friendly, very helpful, and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable eating here. If you eat here, ask for Jason (the manager).
Said they had a GF menu. Manager came out with a binder that I couldn’t look at. Steak isn’t even safe. Only two options available and I had to sub my side. Although manager was friendly and they said it was flagged allergy I ended up having an attack. I will avoid in the future.
Overall the food is cooked well and tastes delicious. They don’t have a GF menu. They just have the Giant file for allergens tat doesn’t even include the newer items. If you don’t have hours to figure out what you want, you can just stick to the basics and be fine. I didn’t get sick from cross contamination but the staff didn’t seem to know much about GF either so it might have just been luck.
Their Chicken tortilla soup and Chicken Caprese salad are gluten free, amongst others. Applebee's also has a designated allergen book for you to choose what you are craving and what they offer gluten free/vegetarian/ vegan on their menu. So exited, thank you Applebee's! :)
We ate at an Applebee's last summer and I did well there. There were several options for me. This time, even the steaks were not gluten-free. And the waiter couldn't tell me if they could be cooked in a gluten-free manner. I was offered a burger with no bun or a salad without croutons. I wasn't impressed.
I have had mixed experiences with Applebees, but having Celiac, a couple bad experiences is enough for me and sadly I won't be returning any time soon. I ordered off the gluten free menu and asked all the typical prep questions and still got sick.
There is a very, very small selection of what they call GF on their menu. It isn’t very good, and every time I eat here I get sick. I no longer trust the place at all.
Although they did have a detailed binder, I would not consider this place celiac friendly. No dedicated friers and when asked about certain things, the answer was "we are not up to celiac standards". Salads can be a safe bet most of the time, but they have one that was celiac friendly. I did eat that one salad, modified slightly, and am ok so far. I just don't consider it celiac friendly if I have to work real hard to find something to eat.
Very limited menu. Some items listed gluten free on menu are not due to cross contamination in fryer. Service was good and server was knowledgable. I will not eat here again due to such a limited number of truly gluten free items.
I'm not usually a big fan of chain restaurants due to staff not usually paying attention to allergy needs, but I had an incredible experience. I had forgotten to ask for a gluten free menu when I walked in, but when we got to the table I mentioned I had an allergy. The hostess went and got the manager, who brought me a binder of all of the foods they serve (was very updated), and what type of allergens you may find in them. It was a little hard to operate, but was very in depth. Our waitress even ensured I didn't have any questions before ordering and made a note that my food preparation be handled differently as to not cross contaminate. I always worry about getting ill, but I felt perfectly fine after. I was very pleased with how knowledgeable the staff was, and how wonderful they were taking care of me while I dined out with my family.
I visited Applebee's with my celiac daughter. The waitress (I believe her name was Kerra) was very knowledgeable about celiac and went through the menu options with us. She ensured the kitchen staff was aware of our needs and told them to clean the cooking surface and keep our food separate from gluten. The manager was notified and he stopped by to visit us to make sure our needs were met. Overall it was a stress-free experience.
Ordered a burger on a bed of lettuce, telling them I had Celiac and cannot have any bun at all. It still arrived on a bun. Sent it back to kitchen and they made a new burger, but served it on lettuce on the same plate covered in crumbs from the bun. Left extremely disappointed.
I asked if they had a gf menu and I was handed the binder. It's difficult to read and figure out what is actually gf? Once the waitress came back to take our order I said I was really confused as what I could actually eat because I had celiac. She said well that's why we give you the binder . When it came around to take my order I decided to pass. All I wanted was a salad but I did not feel safe eating here. Come on Applebees you should have a gf menu!
No gluten free menu, just a book of allergens. This book was brought to me by a manager who made it clear that the establishment is not responsible for any cross contamination. He said that the dedicated gluten free fryer would sometimes be used for fish and chips when the place got very busy. At least he was honest. As a person with Celiac disease this will be a restaurant I will have to avoid.
This is more a criticism of the chain rather than this particular location, but I wish they'd print an actual gf menu rather than have the giant, difficult to navigate binder. That said, they do have a few appetizers that are gf. I had the nachos, and they were tasty and generously sized. Staff was friendly and attentive.
*** Please write honest reviews so others have up to date information on choices*** Annoying allergen book so it takes forever to order. Very limited options. Staff is not knowledgeable. The last time I took my child, who got mac n cheese, I asked for no mushrooms but got them anyways, took one bite of my chicken when he needed to go to the bathroom, again, and when we got back to the table the mac n cheese had been scooped into my food because two full plates of food and a full plate of yogurt gave the bus boy the impression that we had left... got a new plate still with mushrooms, ate, paid full price, tipped and left.
Unfortunately I don't feel they make it particularly easy to dine at their restaurant if you are trying to eat GF. Granted they will bring you the allergy binder but as far as making recommendations the staff are either not trained or not very interested.
