Typical Applebee’s gluten allergy list... I’ve never gotten sick here

Extremely unsatisfied, called ahead for time to make sure they had a gluten free option. All 4 salads came out with croutons, no one new anything about gluten/celiac, I had to look everything up on line to order. And the service was beyond horrible! It takes me ALOT to give a bad review! DO NOT RAT HERE!!!! I am only giving it one star because it made me.
Staff was friendly and manager came out to discuss the way they handle celiac disease and gluten-free customers. They had an allergen list they gave me. I had the add on grilled shrimp skewers with garlic green beans. They did bring a Parmesan dip to go with the shrimp and when I asked about if that was GF, the waiter went to inquire. Upon his return, he quickly removed it from my plate (it was in a separate dish). I had no problems.
Hostess told me they don't offer gluten free menus, or carry gf food. The waitress brought me a notebook showing what was gf. I explained that I have celiac and asked her to please make the kitchen aware, she did not. Violently sick. I will never eat at an applebees again.
I inquired whether their fries shared a fryer with gluten items, such as chicken tenders. Waitress came back and told me her manager told her to inform me that fryers typically “kill” allergens in the hot oil and even gave me examples such as peanut allergies, fish allergies, and gluten. I was horrified. Don’t EVER trust this restaurant if you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
I ORDERED THE RIBS AND IT TOOK 30 MINUTES FOR THEM TO REALIZE THAT THEY DONT HAVE RIBS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT!!! SO I HAD TO GET THE SMALL RIBS APPARENTLY THAT WAS AVAILABLE . THEY WERE SO BAD THEY TASTED LIKE CARDBOARD WITH BONES AND I ASKED FOR A SIDE SALAD AND I CLARIFIED THE FACT THAT I COULDNT HAVE RANCH AND WHAT DOES SHE BRING ME RANCH AND THATS NOT ALL THEY RAN OUT OF UTENSILS AND NAPKINS AND HALF THE FOOD IN THE RESTAURANT. AFTER 2 HOURS I DECIDED THAT WAS MY FIRST AND LAST APPLEBEES TRIP !
I ate here just last month and had a good experience... The fryer is a shared fryer so idk why anyone would order chips there so definitely steer clear of those. The waitress even asked if I had celiacs or was just intolerant. I got ribs, salad and veggie.
My favorite thing to get here is the grilled chicken breast and a side of fries for around $11. I have never felt sick from eating here, and the food has always been good. They also have other sides that my family members with celiac/gluten sensitivity enjoy, including the grilled vegetables. Applebee’s has become a place that I can rely on for a filling, safe meal.
Terrible service despite the fact that it never got busy. My daughter's food came out with french fries (cross contaminated) even though it was supposed to get green beans. My meal had a hunk of fried breading on the side of the plate from someone else's food. They did have an allergen menu but it does not take into account things like the cross contaminated fries.
I've been here several times before and never had a problem before 5/13/2018 . I usually have Bar-B-Q Riblets with fries and Coleslaw all are listed as GF in their allergen free lists. I always tell my server that i am GF and have Celiac Disease. The wait staff always told me they would let the kitchen know. Last night our waitress seemed to be clueless., she went to her manager, who came to our table. He was extremely rude and informed me that the kitchen would not watch out for gluten coming near my food and nothing would be done to treat my food in any way different than "normal kitchen foodcare". My food came out without the fries, coleslaw, and cold, at the same time as my side salad which had croutons.My partner and I were speechless and very angry.
sorry Applebee's. decided to give you another chance.no improvement in menu. at least the server was willing to check for us but gf menu not really accurate . double check it all. we did get a bunless burger with a side salad.kids menu very poor.
Never again! They have a very hard to read allergy menu. Items that they say are safe on menu, are not. Everything is fried in same fryer. Different staff contradicting each other. Didn’t know what was safe. I’ve been told before they used a dedicated fryer. They do not.
Last night I ordered the salsa verde nachos for curbside pickup & told them I’m gluten free when I ordered. The gm came out to the car & said they’re not gf. I told him that they’re on the gf menu, as are the fries that I order. He said they don’t have a separate fryer. It’s all cooked in the same fryer. I’ve gotten sick the other times I’ve ordered but assumed I was glutened someplace else or from home since they’re on the gf menu & the person in charge those nights would come over & talk with me before ordering. I’m hoping the gm is wrong & that I’ve gotten sick a different way. I’ll be calling cooperate on Monday.
they have an excellent allergen list that is very c omprehensive. being celiac and lactose intolerant nattows down my options. their staff was exceptional in helping me stay safe. it was Easter Sunday, they were crazy busy, they took the time to get it right . these guys were awsome.
Management seems very attentive to the urgency of Celiac requirements. Some staff also very attentive while others a bit less so stay diligent, making sure the waitstaff understands. We had no problems ordering but options understandably limited. Had a tasty grilled chicken, steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. Chips are merely warmed in the store so the chips and salsa were tasty, and safe, as well.
Awful. I got super sick. Please please please don’t go here if you have CD! You will 100% get sick. The staff isn’t knowledgeable about gluten free at all. I got a salad and had croutons on it and told me to just pick them out.
Not very many gluten free options here. Was given an allergy menu but many of the things listed as not having gluten are not really gluten free (French fries, nachos, and anything else fried as they don’t have a dedicated fryer). Wait staff was nice and tried to be very accommodating of my allergy.
This was a unique experience for us. There was no gluten-free menu, or marked menu items, but the manager sat down with us and an allergens binder, and went over the safe-to-eat menu items with us. He was very friendly, very helpful, and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable eating here. If you eat here, ask for Jason (the manager).
