Went to ash’kara recently and we had a great meal - except that they accidentally gave us regular pita instead of gluten free. We asked to make sure because it wasn’t labeled, and they sent it back to the kitchen and brought out the actual gf pita - but it took a full 45 minutes to get it. Everything i ate was delicious, though, and the staff was celiac-aware and i did not get sick.
Celiac from out of town. I’ve been to this restaurant twice - January 2023 and May 2024. Both were good but the earlier visit was better. Warm GF pita is very special and I like the hummus. We also had a dish with sweet potato and walnuts on their spring menu that was very good. The lamb was better than the chicken. Overall, good experience and did not get sick.
Lots of GF options. Super Knowledgeable staff. 2 separate people warned me about the falafel cross contamination with the fryer. And when they brought out my friend’s birthday dessert they also brought me sorbet, so kind. The GF pita wasn’t as good as it was last time I was here, but sure if something changed there. But still awesome overall
Very good restaurant, with lots of GF options and knowledgeable staff. They were diligent about cross contamination and the GF pita was cooked in a different oven, but it was so dry and crunchy, hard to eat. They used to have excellent GF pita when they first opened. Overall good restaurant, I would still go back.
Ate here a few weeks ago. We had the fries for an appetizer and the salmon & asparagus toast on GF pita. The food was tasty but the pita was over cooked so it was very dry and crunchy. I was told the pita was baked in a separate oven. The server at first told me the fries were cooked in a fryer that doesn’t cook anything with gluten but they don’t label it as a dedicated fryer. When they brought out the fries, they said that they confirmed and there was “very little cross contamination.” I decided to eat them anyways and thankfully did not get sick. I would go back but I don’t think I’ll be adding it to my favorites list.
